The Importance of Sunday Mass
As the body will die without food, the soul will expire
without nourishment. As Catholics, that spiritual
nourishment comes at the Sunday Eucharist. The Lord’s
Day is essential for our faith.
Make Sunday Mass the heart of your week.
A Message from our Pastor,
Fr. Bob Cilinski
Thanks and Farewell to
Fr. Gregory Thompson
“Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.”- Matt 28:17
Fr. Gregory Thompson, Parochial Vicar of All Saints for
the past five years, will be going to St. John the Beloved in
McLean beginning Wednesday, June 29th. We express our
best wishes and gratitude to Fr. Thompson for his
dedication and priestly ministry among us. He will surely
be missed.
My dear parishioners,
The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery
of our Christian faith and life. The Church dedicates the
first Sunday after Pentecost to reflect on the mystery of who
God is. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a community of
persons united in love. That is also what a family is and
what a parish is … persons united in love.
The image of “Father” is a powerful one which evokes
many thoughts and feelings. Jesus revealed God as a loving
father for whom being a father is the most important thing
to him. Everything he does, every word he speaks, and
every way he looks at each of us is as the Father. When we
think of God we should remember that Jesus taught us to
call God “Abba” which means “daddy” or “father.”
On this Father’s Day, we think of our human earthly fathers
and give thanks and honor to them. It can really affect our
lives in a positive way if we live under the powerful, loving
shadow of the Father who loves us more than we can know.
Let us keep Fr. Greg Thompson in our thoughts and prayers
as he completes his 5-year assignment at All Saints and
prepares to begin a new one at St. John’s in McLean,
Virginia. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for his
dedicated priestly ministry among us.
Our parish will celebrate a Farewell Mass with Fr.
Thompson on Sunday, June 26th at 11:30am followed by a
reception in his honor in the school gym. We remember Fr.
Thompson in our prayers as he prepares for his new
assignment.
Welcome Rev. Jeb Donelan
Fr. Jeb Donelan has been assigned to All Saints as our new
Parochial Vicar, and will begin his ministry with us on
Wednesday, June 29th. Fr. Donelan was with us this past
summer as a seminarian, and this past year completed his
studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.
He grew up in St. John’s Parish in Warrenton, Virginia.
We welcome Fr. Donelan with great joy.
Welcome Joe Bergida
Remember also Fr. Jeb Donelan, newly ordained, who will
arrive at All Saints on June 29th to begin his first
assignment. We are so blessed to have Fr. Donelan
assigned to All Saints and I thank Bishop Loverde for his
care and love of our parish in sending us a gifted and
prayerful new priest.
Joe Bergida, a seminarian for the Diocese of Arlington, has
been assigned to All Saints for the summer. Joe has
completed his third year of theology at the North American
College in Rome. We welcome Joe to the parish and offer
our support as he journeys to the diaconate in the fall and
the priesthood next June, 2012.
I look forward to celebrating the dedication of our new
organ/grand piano and the recital by Internationally
acclaimed musician, Jeremy Filsell, this Thursday, June 23rd
at 7:00pm in the Church.

Pro-Life Message
Praise the Holy Trinity ~ Some truths, like the very
existence of God, can be known by human reason alone.
Other truths, like the fact that God is One in Three Persons
– Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – can only be known if God
reveals them to us. We could never conclude on our own
that God is a Trinity. Today’s Feast is not only an
opportunity for thanking God for telling us more about
himself. It is an occasion to take courage as we strive for
deeper unity within the human family. God reveals himself
to us in order to make us more like himself – not just as
individuals, but as families, nations, and an international
community. We grow in unity as we give ourselves away to
one another, just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit give
themselves to each other completely.
Please pray to end abortions in Manassas. Peaceful
demonstrations are conducted on Saturdays along the
northbound side of Sudley Road on the sidewalk between
Stonewall Road and Grant Avenue. Call Aaron Messier at
(703) 754-9712 for further details. God bless you for all
that you do for the unborn!
