St. Louis de Montfort Mission Statement
We are called to be and to become a loving family centered in Jesus.
We acknowledge and accept that each of us is unique and
has special gifts from the Holy Spirit.
We wish to nurture, develop and share these gifts within and
for the Body of Christ.
Having been called by Baptism into that Body,
We celebrate our relationship in Word, Sacrament and Family Celebration.
We are then sent to call others to Christ
through who we are and what we do.
We recognize Christ’s call to be one in Him and commit ourselves to his way of life.

Gratitude for our volunteer catechists & assistants:
Today is Catechetical Sunday and the Catholic Church
throughout the United States is commissioning volunteers who serve as catechists in parishes passing along
the faith to people of all ages. The Religious Education
office is grateful for and blessed by the 45+ women and
men (plus a group of 15 substitutes) who teach the children of our parish from 4 yr olds through 8th grade. We
still need volunteers to assist in a few of our classes on
Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you are interested, contact Kelly [email protected] or 937-8363

PARISH FESTIVAL THANKS
Our 49th annual parish festival was a HUGE success
thanks to the efforts of over 500 volunteers. There is
no way we can name them without missing someone.
We were blessed with great weather. The food and
drink booths kept everyone well nourished. The
Stepping Out Band and talent show contestants entertained our large crowds. Rides and games kept the
kids asking their parents for more money. Dime Raffle was hopping all day. Donations from businesses
and individuals kept our costs low.
We thank you for a FABULOUS day.

DO YOU USE THE PCC??
Regardless which night or day of the week, we
need to have a short meeting to review the cabinets you have been assigned to based on your
original request. We have some groups who
now meet in a different room than where they
store their materials. This involves the Upper
Room and downstairs: Fireside, Rm. 2 and
Mahan. So, we hope to resolve that and free up
space for those still in need of a cabinet!!
Please, the only date we can find the building
free is SAT., SEPT. 28 from 10-11 a.m.
The head of your group, or a representative
must come—with the key to the cabinet!!!
Please mark your calendar.

RCIA-CHILDREN PROGRAM
We have 70 children/young adults from age 8-18
who are in various stages of becoming a Catholic.
We need Catechists who are available on Sunday
mornings from about 9:30-11 to teach the classes.
The program is throughout the year, but your commitment would be twice a month, every other
month. If you are interested please contact Jose
Orozco at the rectory on Mon-Fri, 1-3pm.

PARISH SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD
Hopefully you will recall we requested nominations
last March/April and we received nominations. The
Parish Council and Fr. Charles have chosen the
first recipients in this new format for recognition. A
new plaque to hang in the foyer of the Upper Room
will identify the recipients each year. The award
began last year when the KC’s honored Al and
Norma Ceglia, so their names will be on the plaque
for 2012. The recipients for 2013 are: Carol Mendoza, and Ed & Pauline Collins. The recipients
will be recognized at the 11:30 Mass on September 22nd, and a reception hosted by the Parish
Council will follow in the parish hall. Friends
and families of the recipients are welcome to
attend the reception, plus any parishioners.
24TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
DID YOU KNOW?
All Catholic school personnel are screened,
trained to detect child abuse
Did you know that all Catholic school personnel in
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are screened for
their ability to work safely with children, are provided information and training to help them recognize and deal with issues of child sexual abuse and
are offered guidance and instruction on appropriate professional conduct with students? Likewise,
all seminarians and candidates for the diaconate go
through extensive evaluation and psychological
assessment before entering formation. After ordination, priests and deacons receive ongoing training on maintaining the integrity of the ministerial
relationship.

.¿SABIA USTED?
