SPIRIT OF SELF-IMPROVEMENT
Esfuerzo, afán de superación y trabajo duro en
equipo para poder lograr el mejor resultado. Estas
son algunas de las actitudes que comparten los
centenares de regatistas que estos días vuelven a
concentrarse en la Bahía de Palma de Mallorca para
disputar la 35 edición de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE
de vela, uno de los acontecimientos deportivos
más importantes del verano.
Effort, drive for self-improvement and hard team
work in order to achieve the best result. These are
some of the attitudes shared by the hundreds of
sailors who return these days to the Bay of Palma
de Mallorca to participate in the 35th edition of the
Copa del Rey MAPFRE, one of the major sporting
events of the summer.
Un año más, MAPFRE vuelve a ser patrocinador de
esta competición, con la que llevamos vinculados
una década, y que sitúa a Baleares como la capital
internacional de la vela durante los primeros días
del mes de agosto, con más de 120 barcos de casi
una veintena de países diferentes compitiendo en
sus aguas.
En MAPFRE apostamos de forma decidida por el
mundo del deporte y de manera muy especial
por la vela, una disciplina en la que los hombres
y mujeres que compiten se baten cada instante
por dar lo mejor de sí mismos. Ellos demuestran
constantemente que cualquier reto, por difícil que
sea, se puede conseguir. Los 38.000 empleados de
MAPFRE en todo el mundo compartimos este afán
de superación que caracteriza a los deportistas
y esto nos empuja a responder cada día a la
confianza que más de 34 millones de personas y
empresas han depositado en nosotros.

Again this year MAPFRE is the sponsor of this
competition, with which we have been associated for
a decade, and that places the Balearic Islands as the
international capital of sailing during the first days
of the month of August, with more than 120 vessels
from almost twenty different countries competing in
its waters.
At MAPFRE we make a firm commitment to the sport
world and especially that of sailing, a discipline
in which the men and women taking part fight
every moment to give the best of themselves. They
constantly demonstrate that any challenge, however
difficult it may be, can be overcome. MAPFRE’s 38,000

and which drives us to respond every day to the trust

LIMITLESS
Solemos pensar que cada Copa del Rey que
cerramos es insuperable, que no hay posibilidad de
llegar más lejos. Pero cada año nos equivocamos.
Al final de la edición de 2015 dije que habíamos
celebrado “la mejor Copa de la historia”. Y así fue.
Tuvimos más barcos y países que nunca, en el
puerto estuvimos muy cerca de superar nuestra
capacidad de acogida y volvimos a ser el centro
deportivo y social del país, con una repercusión
económica en medios jamás vista. Lo lógico sería
pensar que tocamos techo, que el listón no se
puede poner más alto, pero ya no me atrevo a
decirlo. No cabe descartar en absoluto que la 35
Copa del Rey MAPFRE supere a todas las anteriores.
Lo tenemos todo para que así sea: barcos de
máximo nivel, la experiencia de un gran equipo
organizativo y un campo de regatas único.
Por primera vez en la historia, además, la Copa
albergará una prueba de grandes catamaranes. Y
no de unos catamaranes cualquiera. Los GC32 son
unas máquinas increíbles, capaces de sostenerse
sobre sus ‘foils’ con apenas una ligera brisa. Como
presidente del RCNP me siento muy orgulloso
de haber podido incorporar esta clase a la Copa
del Rey MAPFRE, y como navegante y aficionado
al deporte de la vela estoy ansioso por ver sus
evoluciones en la Bahía de Palma. Promete ser
uno de los espectáculos más impresionantes que
se hayan dado nunca en nuestras aguas, y que
se sumará al que de por sí ya ofrecen el resto de
categorías participantes, desde las grandes esloras
hasta los pequeños monotipos, pasando por la
siempre fiel flota de cruceros ORC e IRC.
La Copa del Rey MAPFRE es mucho más que
una simple regata. Después de 35 años, no
es exagerado decir que representa el mejor
escaparate internacional para la ciudad de moda
en el Mediterráneo. De hecho, es muy probable
que el Real Club Náutico de Palma y su equipo
humano hayan contribuido durante todos estos
años de esfuerzo y trabajo bien hecho a que Palma
goce de ese estatus entre los amantes del mar. Yo
estoy convencido de ello.
Ahora es el momento de disfrutar de la regata y de
todo lo que la envuelve. No se la pierdan.
We tend to think that every Copa del Rey we close is
unbeatable, that we cannot top it. But every year we
are wrong. At the end of the 2015 edition, I said that
we had held “the best Cup in history”. And it was so.
We had more boats and countries than ever. In the
harbor we nearly exceeded our capacity and once
again are the sports and social center of the country,
with an economic impact in ways never before seen.
It would be logical to think we have reached our
limit, that the standard cannot be set any higher,
but I no longer dare say so. We can’t rule out the 35th
Copa del Rey MAPFRE exceeding all of the above. We
have everything we need to make this so: top-level
vessels, the experience of a great organization team
and a unique regatta course.
Furthermore, for the first time in history, at the Cup
there will be a race for large catamarans. And not just
any catamarans. The GC32 are incredible machines,
able to stand on their ‘foils’ with just a light breeze. As
President of the RCNP, I am very proud to have been
able to add this class to the Copa del Rey MAPFRE
and, as a sailor and sailing amateur, can’t wait to
see their evolution in the Bay of Palma. It promises
to be one of the most impressive performances we
have ever seen in our waters, in addition to the one
already offered by the other participating categories,
from long vessels to small monotypes, without
forgetting the ever-faithful ORC and IRC yacht fleet.
The Copa del Rey MAPFRE is much more than a
simple regatta. After 35 years, it is no exaggeration to
say that it represents the best international showcase
for the fashion city of the Mediterranean. In fact, it is
very likely that the Real Club Nautico de Palma and its
human team have contributed during all these years
of effort and hard work to giving Palma that status
among sea lovers. I am utterly convinced of this.
Now it’s time to enjoy the regatta and everything
related with it. Make sure you don’t miss it!

CONGRATULATIONS
La nostra ciutat es consolida en el mapa dels
esdeveniments nàutics esportius més importants
del món any rere any, i sobretot gràcies a la regata
de la Copa del Rei, que enguany celebra la 35a
edició.
Our city is consolidated year after year as one of
the world’s major sporting nautical venues, and
especially thanks to the Copa del Rey regatta, which
on this occasion celebrates its 35th edition. És un honor ser el batle de la ciutat que acull la
regata més important de la Mediterrània, i per això
vull felicitar especialment el Reial Club Nàutic per
l’organització d’aquesta edició i expressar el meu
agraïment als patrocinadors i als participants per
seguir confiant en aquesta competició.
Palma es converteix un any més en l’escenari
d’una de les competicions de vela més importants,
un autèntic esdeveniment de referència per a la
nàutica, que proporciona a la nostra ciutat una
extraordinària projecció internacional.
En els pròxims set dies es demostra que la nostra
és una ciutat oberta a la mar, amb una badia que
es converteix en l’epicentre d’una activitat nàutica
de primer ordre. I, alhora, Palma es transforma en
un mostrador inigualable que es posa a disposició
dels visitants com a oferta turística, gastronòmica i
cultural de primer nivell.
Aquesta és, per tant, una oportunitat única per a
mostrar i demostrar que Palma és molt més que un
aparador privilegiat; que som un exemple de ciutat
viva i atractiva, oberta a la mar i al món, i curosa del
seu patrimoni i el llegat cultural i patrimonial.
It is an honour to be the Mayor of the city hosting the
most important regatta in the Mediterranean, and
that is why I would like to particularly congratulate
the Real Club Náutico for organizing this edition
and express my thanks to the sponsors and
participants for continuing to place their trust in this
competition. Once again, Palma becomes the scenario of one of
the most important competitions, a real benchmark
for the sailing world, which gives our city an
extraordinary international projection. During the next seven days the world will see that
our city is open to the sea, with a bay that becomes
the epicentre of a major nautical activity. At the
same time, Palma is transformed into a unique
showcase made available to visitors with a first-rate
tourist, gastronomic and cultural offer. It is therefore a unique opportunity to show and
prove that Palma is much more than a privileged
showcase; that we are an example of a living and
attractive city, open to the sea and to the world, and
which cares for its cultural legacy and heritage. Congratulations to the Organization and good luck

UN REFERENTE
A BENCHMARK
Después de tres décadas y media, la Copa del
Rey mantiene sólida su vinculación con Mallorca
ofreciendo un valor añadido a la imagen de la isla,
lo que la impulsa a seguir siendo protagonista
del verano mediterráneo. En estos momentos
en los que hay que conseguir una diversificación
de nuestra oferta turística, competiciones como
esta ayudan, sin lugar a dudas, a que Mallorca sea
conocida por algo más que sus playas.
After three and a half decades, the Copa del Rey still
holds a strong relationship with Majorca adding
value to the island’s image, which drives it to
continue being the protagonist of the Mediterranean
summer. In these times when we have to achieve a
diversification of our tourist offer, competitions like
this help, without any doubt, Majorca to be famous
for something other than just its beaches.
La Copa del Rey contribuye decididamente a que
seamos un destino turístico de primera calidad. El
potencial de la vela, en sus múltiples vertientes,
atrae cada día a más gente en el archipiélago,
con efectos multiplicadores. Tenemos claro que
para mantener el éxito del conjunto de nuestro
producto turístico se debe apostar por eventos
deportivos consolidados con decidida proyección
exterior. La alta internacionalización de la flota, con
presencia de 19 países, es la prueba más evidente
del eco internacional que tiene la prueba.
En nombre del Govern de les Illes Balears quiero
felicitar al Real Club Náutico de Palma por acoger
una prueba que se ha convertido en un referente,
al tiempo que sigue reforzando a Mallorca como
un escenario de primer orden para la práctica de
este apasionante deporte.
Finalmente, deseo que los deportistas que
participan en esta nueva edición de la Copa del Rey
encuentren de nuevo en nuestras aguas el marco
idóneo donde demostrar su gran preparación
y nivel competitivo. El marco privilegiado y
majestuoso de la Bahía de Palma será testigo.

The Copa del Rey definitely contributes to us being a
top-quality tourist destination. The potential of
sailing, in all its facets, every day attracts more
people in the archipelago, with knock-on effects. We
are aware that to maintain the success of our entire
tourism product, we must make a commitment to
consolidated sports events with a decidedly external
projection. The high internationalization of the fleet,
with the presence of 19 countries, is the most obvious
proof of the event’s international echo. On behalf of the Govern de les Illes Baleares, I’d like
to congratulate the Real Club Náutico de Palma
for hosting an event that has become a benchmark,
at the same time as it continues consolidating
Majorca as a major scenario for engaging in this
exciting sport.
Finally, I hope the sailors participating in this new
edition of the Copa del Rey will once again find
in our waters the ideal framework in which to
demonstrate their great preparation and competitive
level. The privileged and majestic backdrop of the
Bay of Palma will bear witness to this.

La Copa del Rey MAPFRE
La Copa del Rey MAPFRE es una referencia en el calendario de
regatas del Mediterráneo desde hace más de tres décadas. Su
historia es la de la evolución de las flotas nacional e internacional,
que se citan cada verano en la bahía de Palma para disfrutar de unas
condiciones de navegación inmejorables.
The Copa del Rey MAPFRE has been an essential date on the
Mediterranean regatta calendar for more than three decades now. Its
history is one of the evolution of the national and international fleets
that meet here each summer in the Bay of Palma to enjoy unbeatable
sailing conditions.
The Copa del Rey MAPFRE
Los orígenes de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE se
remontan a 1982, cuando la Asociación Nacional
de Cruceros organizaba con el Real Club Náutico
de Palma la primera edición de una regata abierta a
todas las clases en tiempo compensado. Aceptaron
el reto más de medio centenar de participantes. El
italiano “Nan” era el encargado de inaugurar el libro
de oro de la regata, al que seguirían el “Barracuda”
de Pepín González (1983) y el “Bribón” de José Cusí
(1984 y 1985), sentando la tradición de que S.M. el
Rey Don Juan Carlos navegase en “su” regata.
The Copa del Rey MAPFRE began back in 1982,
when the National Yacht Association, along with
the Real Club Náutico de Palma, organized the
first edition of this regatta, which was open to all
categories under the handicap system. More than
50 participants accepted the challenge. The Italian
“Nan” was the first boat to win this competition,
followed by Pepín González’s “Barracuda” (1983)
and José Cusí’s “Bribón” (1984 and 1985), initiating
the tradition of King Juan Carlos of Spain sailing in
“His” regatta.

desembocarían en los IMS Regata y Crucero,
divididos según esloras. El podio hablaba casi
exclusivamente español, dominado por nombres
como Josele y Noluco Doreste, José Luis Suevos,
Pedro Campos, Jaime Yllera, Pelayo de la Mata,
Manuel Chirivella o José Manuel Cardesín.
After joining the world

in 1987, in 1988, 106
participants registered for
this competition and were
divided for the first time into
two categories: IOR and IMS.
At the beginning of the 90s
there were mainly Spanish
participants within a consolidated international
fleet that had around 100 boats. They were years
of changes to the handicap system, which led to
the IMS Cruiser and IMS Regatta categories, divided
according to the length of the yachts. Winners were
mainly Spanish, with sailors such as Josele and
Noluco Doreste, José Luis Suevos, Pedro Campos,
Jaime Yllera, Pelayo de la Mata, Manuel Chirivella or
José Manuel Cardesín.
Con el cambio de siglo, el IMS evolucionó hasta
ramificarse en las clases 500 –posteriormente 570–,
600 y 670, llegando con fuerza las clases Monotipo
y Box-Rule. El “Caixa Galicia” de Vicente Tirado hacía
historia encadenando tres títulos consecutivos:
2002, 2003 y 2004.
In the 21st century, IMS carried on developing and
was finally divided into classes 500 –then 570–,
600 and 670, and finally One-Design and Box-Rule
vessels. Vicente Tirado’s “Caixa Galicia” won three
titles in a row: 2002, 2003 and 2004.
En 2005 debutaba la clase TP52, que trajo a la
bahía de Palma la competición en tiempo real.
Esta fórmula se consolidaba en 2007, copando
ya la mitad de la flota cuando se iniciaba la
reordenación de las clases en tiempo compensado
con la potenciación de la nueva IRC.
In 2005 the TP52 class competed for the first
time, bringing the real-time competition to the
Bay of Palma. This formula was consolidated in
2007, having half of the fleet within this class at
the time that classes under the handicap system
were being reorganized, promoting the new IRC
class.
En 2009, la regata sentaba las bases para remodelar
su estructura de competición. Además de IRC,
se incluía RI para ir homogeneizando la flota en
tiempo compensado, manteniendo la apuesta por
el tiempo real con los monotipos (Swan 45, X-35 y
X-41), y los Box-Rule (TP52).
In 2009, the Regatta set the basis for renewing
its competition structure. Besides IRC, RI was
also included to homogenize the fleet under the
handicap system, still betting on the real-time
system with One-Design (Swan 45, X-35 y X-41) and
Box-Rule vessels (TP52).
En 2010 hubo seis coronas: IRC A, IRC B, RI 1, RI 2,
y los monotipos X-35 y X-41. La crisis ya azotaba
a la flota, pero aún así se rozaba el centenar de
participantes.
En el 30 aniversario de 2011 debutaban dos nuevas
clases (Melges 32 y J80) y se vivía la histórica victoria
del TP52 de José Cusí, único armador que había
participado en todas las ediciones, y cuya saga
“Bribón” se despedía en Palma de la alta competición.
Sexto título para el barco y el armador con mejor
palmarés en la historia de la prueba.
Las ediciones siguientes consolidaron a la flota
de la Copa del Rey MAPFRE en el entorno de las
110-120 unidades.
En agosto de 2015 se celebró la edición más
multitudinaria en las tres décadas de historia
del evento. Nada menos que 136 barcos de 23
nacionalidades compitieron en la bahía de Palma
durante seis emocionantes jornadas para desvelar
la identidad de los campeones en las ocho clases
participantes. Los ganadores de la 34 Copa del Rey
MAPFRE fueron los estadounidenses “Ran V” (Gaastra
IRC 0) y “Quantum Racing” (TP52 Super Series), el
japonés “Mamma Aiuto” (Rías Baixas IRC 1), el italiano
“BMW Sail Racing Academy” (BMW ORC 1), y los
españoles “Noticia IV” (Singular Kitchen Soto 40),
“Movistar” (BMW ORC 2), “Red Eléctrica de España” (Air
Europa X-35) y “Ono Polaroid Tressis” (Herbalife J80).
In 2010, there were six categories: IRC A, IRC B, RI
1, RI 2, and the X-35 and X-41 One-Design vessels.
Although the economic crisis was already hitting
the fleet, the regatta gathered almost one hundred
participants.

Rey MAPFRE fleet in around 110-120 units.

In 2011, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of
the Regatta with two new classes (Melges 32 and
J80). That year, we witnessed the historic victory
of José Cusí’s TP52 yacht, the only owner to have
participated in all the editions, and whose “Bribón”
saga said goodbye to high competition in Palma. It
was the sixth title for that ship and owner, holding
the best results in the history of the Regatta.
August 2015 saw the busiest edition in the event’s
three decades of history. No fewer than 136 vessels
of 23 nationalities competed in the bay of Palma
during six exciting days to reveal the identity of the
champions in the eight participating classes. The
winners of the 34th Copa del Rey MAPFRE were the
Americans “Ran V” (IRC Gaastra 0) and “Quantum
Racing” (TP52 Super Series), the Japanese “Mamma
Aiuto” (Rias Baixas IRC 1), the Italian “BMW Sail
Racing Academy” (BMW ORC 1), and the Spanish
“Noticia IV” (Singular Kitchen Soto 40), “Movistar”
(BMW ORC 2), “Red Eléctrica de España” (Air Europa

El sector de la náutica deportiva y de recreo en España
sigue remontando tras la grave crisis desencadenada
hace una década. Los datos relativos a ventas en 2015

Si hablamos de zonas, Baleares continúa a la
cabeza del mercado de embarcaciones de recreo,
del que representaba el 15,2% en 2015. Con 709
matriculaciones, Baleares ha crecido un 20,37%
con respecto a 2014, año en el que se matricularon
589 embarcaciones.
La buena marcha en la actividad comercial,
tanto en la compra como en el alquiler, conlleva
también un panorama positivo para las entidades
aseguradoras, donde sigue destacando el papel de

The Spanish nautical sports and recreational sector
is still recovering after the severe crisis unleashed a
decade ago. The data related to sales in 2015 present
a climate of moderate optimism that confirms the
progress already experienced the previous year, a
circumstance logically in line with the recovery of the
economic activity in our country.
According to the January-December 2015 market
report on recreational boats (“Informe del mercado
de embarcaciones de recreo, enero-diciembre 2015”)

Swan 45 y Herbalife J80, hasta 24 pruebas de GC32,

COMPETITION
The competition program provides for a maximum
of 12 races of Air Europa X-35, MRW Swan 45

This category allows yachts of different
characteristics to compete in the same race, assuring

MONTBLANC MAXI 72
Son espectaculares monocascos de 72 pies
de eslora (22 metros), barcos muy rápidos y
tecnológicamente avanzados, que tanto pueden
competir en regatas costeras como enfrentarse
a duros recorridos oceánicos. Sus armadores
decidieron iniciar la clase en 2014 como evolución
de la flota Mini Maxi Racer desarrollada por
la International Maxi Association (Asociación
Internacional de Maxi). Una de las reglas de clase
indica que el patrón debe ser el propio armador.
Su calendario 2016 comenzó a principios de año
en Estados Unidos y el Caribe, y continúa en la 35
Copa del Rey MAPFRE como primer evento de la
temporada europea.
En la bahía de Palma no faltarán varios de los
equipos más potentes de la categoría, como los
estadounidenses “Bella Mente” de Hap Fauth y

MONTBLANC MAXI 72
They are spectacular monohulls 72 feet in length
(22 meters), very fast and technologically advanced
boats, which can compete both in offshore regattas
and tough oceanic routes. Their owners decided
to start the class in 2014 as the evolution of the Mini
Maxi Racer fleet developed by the International
Maxi Association. One of the class rules states that
the skipper must be the shipowner. Its 2016 agenda
started at the beginning of the year in the United
States and the Caribbean, and continues in the 35th
Copa del Rey MAPFRE as the first event of the
European season.
Some of the class’s most powerful teams will compete
in the bay of Palma, for example the American
Hap Fauth’s “Bella Mente” and George Sakellaris’s
“Proteus”, the British Alex Schaerer’s “Caol Ila R” or
the German Dieter Schön’s “Momo”.
The Montblanc Maxi 72 will race a maximum of 11
legs, including an coastal one.

Es la gran novedad de la 35 Copa del Rey MAPFRE.
Diseñado por Martin Fischer y botado a finales
de 2012, el GC32 es un catamarán al estilo de los
de Copa América pero sin restricciones de regla,
mucho más pequeño, con velas convencionales en
vez de tipo ala, y con foils (pequeños apéndices que
producen un fuerte empuje y sacan literalmente
el casco del barco fuera del agua). Con 10 metros
de eslora y seis de manga, y un máximo de cinco
tripulantes a bordo, el GC32 despega literalmente
desde apenas siete nudos de intensidad de viento, y
es capaz de rozar los 40 nudos de velocidad máxima.

crew on board, the GC32 literally takes off from
hardly seven knots of wind, and is able to reach a

SINGULAR KITCHEN IRC 1
La fórmula IRC es un sistema de medición
desarrollado por el RORC (Royal Ocean Racing
Club) y la UNCL (Union Nationale pour La Course
au Large) que clasifica una amplia gama de
monocascos con la asignación de ratings basado
en un factor de corrección de tiempo único. En la
35 Copa del Rey MAPFRE compite una clase con
certificado IRC: Singular Kitchen IRC 1.
The IRC formula is a measurement system developed

BMW ORC 1 & BMW ORC 2
The ORC formula is a handicap system based on
the boat speed prediction. It is an evolution of IMS.
The ORC certificate fleet is the most numerous and
diverse of the 35th Copa del Rey MAPFRE, with
vessels of a dozen nationalities with lengths of
between barely ten and more than 15 meters. It will
be divided into BMW ORC 1 and BMW ORC 2, with
over 60 boats on the water. BMW ORC 1 Y BMW ORC 2
La fórmula ORC es un sistema de compensación
basado en la predicción de velocidad de los barcos. Es
una evolución del IMS. La flota con certificado ORC es
la más numerosa y heterogénea de la 35 Copa del Rey
MAPFRE, con barcos de una decena de nacionalidades
de esloras comprendidas entre apenas diez metros
y más 15. Se dividirá en BMW ORC 1 y BMW ORC 2,
sumando más de 60 barcos en el agua.
BMW ORC 1 es la clase con mayor participación,
más de una treintena de equipos. No faltan los
campeones de las últimas ediciones –el italiano
“BMW Sail Racing Academy” de Vittorio Codecasa
y el español “Rats on Fire” de Rafael Carbonell– ni el
barco que tradicionalmente patronea S.M. El Rey, el
“Aifos” de la Armada Española.
En BMW ORC 2 compite como defensor del título

patrón más laureado en la historia de la Copa

Diseñado en 2001 por German Frers para el prestigioso
astillero finlandés Nautor’s Swan, el Swan 45 fue
reconocido como clase en 2005. La potente flota
internacional cuenta con 50 unidades que compiten
regularmente en regatas de medio mundo, tanto
en formato monotipo, como bajo regla IRC. Como
se deduce de su nombre, es un barco de 45 pies de
eslora, el equivalente a 13,8 metros. La regla de clase
indica que el armador debe ejercer de patrón y que
el peso su tripulación no debe exceder de 950 kilos
(entre 10 y 12 tripulantes).
MRW SWAN 45
Designed in 2001 by German Frers for the prestigious Finnish shipyard Nautor’s Swan,
the Swan 45 was recognized as a class in
2005. The powerful international fleet has 50 units
that regularly compete in regattas around the world,
both in Monotype format, and under IRC rules. As
may be seen by its name, the boat has a length of
45 feet (equivalent to 13.8 meters). The class rule
indicates that the shipowner must be the skipper and
that the weight of its crew must not exceed 950 kg
(between 10 and 12 crew members).

AIR EUROPA X-35
El X-35 es un monotipo de 35 pies de eslora
(10,61 metros) creado por el astillero danés
X-Yachts y estrenado en 2005. Se incorporó
como clase a la Copa del Rey MAPFRE en 2007,
y este año celebra su décima participación
consecutiva. La regla de clase indica que el
peso de la tripulación no debe exceder los 640
kg, lo que equivale a ocho o nueve tripulantes.
Entre la flota de esta edición no falta el campeón
de la Copa del Rey MAPRE 2015, el “Red Eléctrica
de España” de Javier Sanz, que busca la defensa
del título frente a rivales italianos, españoles y
holandeses.

The X-35 is a One-Design yacht of 35 feet in length
(10.61 meters) created by Danish shipyard X-Yachts
and first used in 2005. It joined the Copa del Rey
MAPFRE as a class in 2007, and this year celebrates

indicates that the crew weight must not exceed 640

company J Boats. This class has a very strong fleet in
Spain, and has been dominating the international

and the values they represent, such as effort, spirit
of improvement, elegance and team work. BMW
and competitive sport have been associated since
the company’s origin, always demonstrating the

Palma y patrocina dos clases de la 35 Copa del Rey

environment well suited to the attributes of a sports
brand that is innovative and respectful with the
environment. Its contact with the user and amateur
athletes is promoted through the BMW Sailing Cup,
a unique international competition that is organized
simultaneously in several countries.

always offers constant support to the sailing world,
and is therefore present at the most prestigious
international competitions and regattas, either
through its sponsorship or being the event’s official
vehicle. In this way, guests and sportspersons have

El RCNP vuelve a ser el centro de operaciones de la
Copa del Rey MAPFRE, con propuestas diarias para
participantes, patrocinadores e invitados.
Once again, the RCNP is the Copa del Rey MAPFRE
centre of operations, with daily proposals for
participants, sponsors and guests. POR LAS MAÑANAS
9:30 a 11:00h - Desayunos Zespri, con fruta fresca
para que los participantes carguen pilas antes de
poner rumbo al campo de batalla.
9:30h - Brunch by Iberostar The Singular Kitchen Show,
donde patrocinadores e invitados despedirán a la
flota desde el privilegiado balcón del restaurante El
Náutico.
IN THE MORNING

fruit for participants to charge their batteries before
heading out to the battlefield.

competición para Óptimist, 420, Laser y Laser
4.7), de mar y de piragüismo (base, de verano
y de competición) contribuyen a fomentar la
pasión por el mar y el deporte.
EL RCNP, EN CLAVE REGATA
A la largo de sus 68 años de historia, el RCNP
ha cosechado un impresionante palmarés
internacional que confirma su vocación deportiva.
Su regata más importante es la Copa del Rey
MAPFRE, que se celebra ininterrumpidamente
desde 1982, pero el calendario deportivo del club
cuenta cada temporada con una impresionante
oferta de eventos en diferentes formatos y para
distintas clases de embarcaciones que incluye citas
clásicas como el Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía (que
celebró el pasado marzo su edición 47), la Gaastra
PalmaVela (abril-mayo) o la Superyacht Cup (junio).
Entre agosto y diciembre de 2016 se disputarán
las siguientes pruebas:
Fundado en 1948, el Real Club Náutico de Palma
(RCNP) se encuentra ubicado en pleno corazón
de la bahía de Palma, un emplazamiento natural
de enlace entre la capital palmesana y el mar.
Sus instalaciones, totalmente remodeladas entre
1999 y 2004, cuentan con una amplia oferta de
servicios para sus socios, con dos piscinas (exterior
e interior), una completa biblioteca, cuatro
locales de restauración (Restaurante Nautic, Café
Terraza Corb Marí, Restaurante Pescadores y Bar
Café), cinco salas multifunción (Sala Magna, Sala
Tramuntana, Sala Xaloc, Sala de Prensa y Sala de
Televisión) y un gimnasio.
El RCNP dispone de 1.035 amarres, 605 de los
cuales están reservados a los socios y el resto a
transeúntes, compañías de chárter y otros servicios.

Founded in 1948, the Real Club Náutico de Palma
(RCNP) is located in the heart of the island’s capital
and the sea. Its facilities, totally renewed between
1999 and 2004, are equipped with a large range of
services for its club members, with two swimming
pools (outdoor and indoor), a large library, four
catering premises (Nautic Restaurant, Corb
Marí Café-Terrace, Pescadores Restaurant and
Café-Bar), five multipurpose rooms (Magna Room,
Tramuntana Room, Xaloc Room, Press Room and
TV Room) and a gym.

THE RCNP, IN REGATTA FORMAT
Throughout its 68 years of history, the RCNP has
achieved an impressive international track record,
confirming its vocation for sports. Its most important
regatta is the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, held since 1982
without interruption; but the club’s sport calendar
offers every year many different events and for
diverse boat types, including a classic as the S.A.R.
Princesa Sofía Trophy (which last March celebrated
its 47th edition), the Gaastra Palma Vela (April-May)
or the Superyacht Cup (June).
Between August and December 2016, the following
competitions will be held:
