Schools have a number of roles they perform.
Supporting student achievement is the very reason we
exist. As such, this is a role which is constantly on the
collective minds of all of our staff members, students,
and parents.
Student achievement is critical. However, it pales in
comparison to the most important role a school faces.
That role is to provide the safest environment possible
for our students. At T.E. Culbertson, we continually
review our safety practices and procedures to ensure that
our students are safe.
Preparing for a worst case scenario is not pleasant. We
hope we never have to use the skills we acquire from
these drills in a real life situation. Unfortunately, because
of real world events, we can’t take student safety for
granted. We must treat every drill as if it is a real event.
We conduct drills on a monthly basis. Both students and
staff have done a great job of working to enhance
student safety.
Office Procedures
Our procedures have been established in an effort to
maximize the barriers an unauthorized visitor must
follow. These procedures can, at times, become
tiresome to our wonderful parent volunteers, and/or
guests. We know it is not always pleasant. We apologize
for the inconvenience. But, we can agree that we all
want the same thing. We want to return your kids to you
as healthy and happy as they were the moment you
entrusted them with us. Thank you for your support in
this matter. As with anything else, we look forward to
your input.
Joliet Area Great Teachers Awards
The Joliet Area of Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for their 2014 "Joliet Area Great Teachers Award".
The Chamber hosts a banquet each spring to honor the best and brightest teachers in the area. If you would like to
nominate a teacher, nomination forms are available in the school office or on the District website. Completed

applications must be received by the Joliet Area of Chamber of Commerce by 4:00 p.m. on November 26 for the
nominee to be considered.

Premio de Gran Maestro(a) del Área de Joliet
La Cámara de Comercio de Joliet está aceptando
nominaciones para el “2014 Premio de Gran Maestro(a)
del Área de Joliet.” La Cámara de Comercio organiza un
banquete cada primavera para honrar a los mejores y más
brillantes profesores en el área. Si desea nominar a un
maestro(a), los formularios de nominación están
disponibles en la oficina de la escuela o en el sitio web del
Distrito. Los formularios completos de la nominación
tienen que ser recibidos a más tardar a las 4:00 p.m. el 26
de noviembre del 2013 para que la persona nominada sea
considerada.
Las escuelas tienen una serie de funciones que realizan.
Apoyar el logro del estudiante es la razón de nuestra
existencia. Como tal, este es un papel que está
constantemente en la mente colectiva de todos los
miembros de nuestro personal, estudiantes y padres de
familia.
Rendimiento de los estudiantes es fundamental. Sin
embargo, palidece en comparación con el papel más
importante frente a una escuela. Ese papel es
proporcionar el entorno más seguro posible para
nuestros estudiantes. En T.E. Culbertson,
continuamente revisamos nuestras prácticas y
procedimientos para asegurar que nuestros estudiantes
estén seguros.
Preparación para el peor de los casos no es agradable.
Esperamos que nunca tengamos que utilizar las
habilidades que adquirimos durante estos ejercicios en
una situación de la vida real. Desafortunadamente,
debido a los acontecimientos del mundo real, no
podemos descuidarnos de la seguridad de los
estudiantes. Debemos tratar a cada ejercicio como si
fuera un hecho real. Realizamos simulacros una vez al
mes. Tanto los estudiantes como el personal han hecho
un gran trabajo para mejorar la seguridad de los
estudiantes.
Procedimiento de la Oficina
Nuestros procedimientos se han establecido en un
esfuerzo para maximizar las barreras que un intruso (no
autorizado) debe proceder a través. Estos
procedimientos pueden, a veces, llegar a cansar a
nuestros voluntarios, maravillosos padres y/o invitados.
Sabemos que es molesto. Pedimos disculpas por las
molestias. Sin embargo, estamos de acuerdo en que
todos queremos lo mismo. Queremos devolverles a sus
hijos tan saludables y felices como lo eran en el
momento que ustedes no los confió a nosotros. Gracias
por su continuo apoyo. Al igual que con cualquier otro
tema, sus comentarios son agradecidos.
