Office Hours:
Tuesday-Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 AM and Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
In today’s Gospel, when Jesus asks “which of these three, in your opinion, was
neighbor to the robbers’ victim? The scholar of the law answered, “The one who
treated him with mercy.” Jesus then said, “Go and do likewise.” Today, you can
also “treat the poor with mercy” by giving to the St. Vincent de Paul’s
Annual Black Bag Collection.
Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brings the love and care of
Jesus to the poor by assisting families, providing food, utility, rent and other
financial support. The Black Bag collection will enable the Archdiocesan Council to
continue to assist those on the margins through programs such as the St. Vincent
de Paul Resale Store Ministry that offers clothing furniture, and household goods
at no charge to those in need.
The Chapel candles are offered in thanksgiving for the
Priestly Ministry of Fr Wencil.

afé MARIANAS,
la conferencia
anual para
mujeres cuya
misión es servir, edificar e
inspirar a Mujeres
comunidad parroquial.
querido. Si todos fueran un solo miembro, ¿dónde
estaría el cuerpo? Como es, hay muchas partes, pero
un solo cuerpo." 1 Corintios 12: 18-20

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults
Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…
Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.
Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living
“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the
faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a
diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have
learned along the way.
Becoming Catholic
Then please join us at the weekly Inquiry session
that takes place every Sunday after the 9 AM
Mass. The group meets in the Conference Room
from about 10:15-11 AM. Contact Heidi at
[email protected] for information.
Next Sunday’s Mass Themes
It’s important to come to Mass with an understanding of the
readings that will be proclaimed that day. Next Sunday is the
16th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Gospel features the
hospitality story in which Martha and Mary welcome the Lord
to their home. Martha’s anxiety is chastised, and the honor
that Jesus gives to Mary, saying that “she has chosen the better
part,” is clearly the point of the story. The most important
aspect of hospitality, surprisingly, is not what is given to, but
what is received from the guest. Listening to Jesus is crucial to
receiving Him.
Calling all who Love Food!
The most delicious fund raiser of the year,
Men Who Cook, is just around the corner
and in need of cooks to compete and hungry
people to taste their delicious offerings! The
event is set for Saturday, August 13, from
6:30-10:30 PM. Tickets go on sale July 18, and they are $35 in
advance and $50 at the door. Tables for eight—which include
2 complimentary bottles of wine and 4 commemorative
cookbooks—are available for $400 each. To volunteer, contact
Carl at [email protected] or call 281.413.0653.
Confirmation for Adults

received first Eucharist but has not been confirmed, please

Over-50 Ladies Lunch Bunch

Registrations are being taken to attend the
next men’s ACTS retreat scheduled for
Thursday, September 1 to Sunday,
September 4. Contact Bob Milmoe to get one: 409.795.7227.
Welcoming the Stranger
Our parish namesake said it best in his letter to the Hebrews:
“Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have
unknowingly entertained angels.” Even though our parish has
a reputation for being warm and welcoming, it can sometimes
be difficult to know what to say to someone you don’t
recognize at Mass. Here are some good options: “Welcome to
St. Paul’s.” “I’m glad you’re here this morning.” “I haven’t
met you yet….I’m ___.”
In-Parish Couples Retreat
Make plans to attend this 1½-day parish-based event,
September 17-18, which focuses on helping couples create the
marriage they have always dreamed of. Living in Love helps
couples get in touch with the resources that draw them to each
other. There is no large group discussion or open sharing.
Saturday goes from 8 AM -9 PM and includes a lovely
candlelight dinner. Sunday ends by 3 PM and includes Mass.
The retreat takes place at our parish so participants can sleep
at home and simplify child care. Living in Love has special
appeal to men who find it refreshingly
positive, proactive, and energizing. Contact
Heidi to register: 281.333.3891 or
[email protected].
Prayer Shawl Ministry Update

Join hundreds of young adults at these popular events on
Monday, July 11, 18, and 25, at St. Vincent de Paul, 6800
Buffalo Speedway. This year’s theme is Reawaken Mercy; the
evening schedule is confessions at 5:15, Mass at 6:15, dinner
at 7:15, and the talk at 8:15. The first talk is on Compassion,
Community, and Christ featuring newly ordained Fr. Preston
Quintela. Cardinal DiNardo is the speaker next week.

Want more culture, but can’t travel? Host two
teenagers in your home for the United Space School!
Host homes are needed for two well-deserving boys
or girls (as appropriate) for two weeks, from July
17th to August 1st. During those weeks, the teens
will be participating in a group project Mon-Fri at
UHCL. They will be part of the United Space
School, a 501(c)(3) private foundation with a
mission to provide space-based academic
instruction to international pre-collegiate students,
while offering an introduction and orientation to

As part of that mission, the teens experience life in

needed!
Also, there are family events and teen group

their fun! In the end, your family will make
international friendships that can last a lifetime!

parishioner will take the chalice home and use it as a focus
of their prayers for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate,
and religious life. At the end of the week, the parishioner
will be responsible for returning the chalice so it can be
passed on to the next parishioner. We hope this tradition
will continue to aid that effort and bring in new laborers into
the fields. If you would like to sign up contact Tom or Mele
Paul. 281.338.7285 or [email protected].
