Pastor’s Corner
I'm much more impressed with a person
who shoots for an A and fails and gets a
C instead than the guy who aimed for a
D because he knew he could hit it, and
does. Failure is not the bad thing that we
tend to think it is-at least not in the
positive areas in our lives. Succeeding
in becoming a drug addict is not the type
of success anyone should shoot for.
Failure is the process by which we learn.
As toddlers, we failed and failed in our
attempts to walk. Our failure even
brought pain as we fell down, bumped
our heads, and wailed for mommy and
daddy. But this process of failure
teaches us a very important truth. As
you fail, you learn more than you
thought you would.
Falling is part of life. We all fail. This
past year has not been easy for most of
us here at the church. We have
encounter difficulties not only in
membership decline but with our
finances and leadership too, but Our
God has been faithful always. We are
reaching out to more people during the
week with the food pantry ministry and
I just want to say thanks to Rachael
Tortosa and her husband Oscar for being
faithful in supporting this ministry for
the community of Elvira. They go to the
food bank 2 or 3 times a month. Many
families have been blessed with a box of
food on a regular basis.

It’s OKAY to fail.
And I can go on and on telling
you about how God is working in our midst
despite the problems we are facing as a
church.
King David said in Psalms 23:6 Surely your
goodness and love will follow me all the
days of my life, and I will dwell in the house
of the Lord forever. The goodness of our
Savior has been always with us. We were
able to replace the old blinds in the
Sanctuary with a very nice wood blinds and
they look great. The blinds have added a
new feeling to our church. Last week we
finished the fence between the church and
the Education building. There is now a safer
place for our kids and young people. God
has brought men, women and young men to
do community or voluntary work on the
premises.
Someone said that failure is only failure if it
keeps you down. Quitting is the only true
failure in life. A marriage is a success if
they keep trying and learning from their
mistakes. But if they quit, yes, it has failed.
Imagine a toddler attempting to walk and
falling down, and imagine that same toddler
saying, 'Well, I tried this walking thing. I
really did. But it's just not for me. I don't
think I'm cut out to walk. Besides, it's
dangerous, and I think that people who want
to walk are crazy!' No parent would
condone such an attitude! Yet we live such
an attitude in our daily lives. Failure is only
failure if you quit! That’s why here at Santa
Clara United Methodist Church will
continue moving in the direction of
reaching out to everyone and preaching
using words when necessary like someone
said it before.
ICS (Interfaith Community Services) a

our church. They are recruiting people
to become drivers to help Senior and
disabled Neighbors in our area. If you
