Students have a study guide and all powerpoint notes are posted to Blackboard. Friends, family, and / or neighbors who have a student going into the 5thgrade in August 2016? Get the word out!!! Online applications are submitted through our website at www.ssas.org , beginning August 1st, 2016 through December 1st, 2016, and found on our Registration page. An emailed confirmation of receipt, will be sent, when the application has been received, and submitted successfully. After December 1st, 2016, a lottery will be conducted to fill all 2017-2018 vacancies, and to create the order of the waiting lists. Results of the lottery will be mailed home, on or before the second week of January 2017. With a completed application on file, Siblings (brothers / sisters) of currently attending students do not participate in the lottery, and are considered for enrollment. Plazos para aplicar para el 2017-2018 Del primero de agosto al primero de diciembre/16 ¿Tiene un hermano que está en 5 º grado en agosto del 2016? ¿Amigos, familia o vecinos que tienen un estudiante entrando a 5 º grado en agosto de 2016? Pase la voz!!! Las aplicaciones se pueden hacer por internet en nuestro sitio web www.ssas.org , comenzando el primero de agosto del 2016 hasta el primero de diciembre del 2016. Kuhar and Calderon: Science Fair Update: Students with science fair forms must turn these forms in and wait for teacher approval to start experimentation. In-class Tomatosphere seeds have started sprouting! Science Fair Background Research Essay is due on Oct. 12th. This will count as a major project grade in Science and Language Arts for Quarter 1. We will have a Ch. 18 Test on Wednesday, Oct. 19th. Students will receive study guides on Oct. 12th, and they will be due the day before the test (due Tuesday, Oct. 18th) so that students can review in class. Upcoming Field Trips: All 7th graders are going to Myakka State Park on Nov. 21st. More information will be sent home soon, but we do need as many parent chaperones as possible to help supervise. It will be an all-day field trip. We also have a field trip on Dec. 1st (Kuhar’s classes) and Dec. 2nd (Calderon’s classes) to North Water Tower Park for water quality testing and invasive species removal. It will go from 9:30am until 1:00pm. We will need parent chaperones for this field trip as well. If you are interested in chaperoning for either field trip to earn parent volunteer hours, please email your child’s science teacher ([email protected] or [email protected]).
