By the time you read this, you’ll be seeing
signs of the construction work on our church
building that began last week.

Here’s what’s happening:
• The brick additions that jut out on the south and north
sides are being removed.
• A new entrance is being created on the south side of the
church. This will include an elevator to the lower level (which
we hope to finish as a gathering space at a later date).
• Work on the exterior of the church will include a new
roof, tuckpointing, new louvers, painting, and tending to all
deterioration.

• Work on the interior of the church,
beginning this summer, will include painting,
new flooring, enhanced lighting and
sound system and, if funds are in hand, air
conditioning.
Some things to know:
• We have raised $13.3 million of the
capital campaign begun in the fall of
2014. The goal is $15 million. This reflects
REMARKABLE support of Ascension Church
and School by our friends in the broader
community, and their confidence in our
North Minneapolis mission going forward for generations to
come.
• This spring, all parishioners will be invited to contribute.
• Improvements to the church, including the new entrance,
will not affect its architectural integrity.
• During this construction period, handicapped access will
be shifted to the 18th Street entrance.
• The Marian monument near the south entrance will be
removed temporarily to protect it from damage.
