EL RINCON DEL PADRE HAI
Seven $mes in the gospel of John, Jesus makes an “I am” statement.
1. Bread: “I am the bread of life; those who come to me will never be
hungry.” John 6:35
2. Light: “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will have the
light of life and will never walk in darkness.” John 8:12
3. Gate: “I am the gate. Those who come in by me will be saved; they
will come in and go out and find pasture.” John 10:9
4. Good Shepherd: “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for
the sheep.” John 10:11
5. Resurrec$on and Life: “I am the resurrec$on and the life. Those who
believe in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25
6. Way, Truth, Life: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father except by me.” John 14:6
7. True vine: “I am the real vine, and My Father is the gardener.” John
15:1
Here, in the sixth chapter of John, Jesus said, "I am the Living bread".
John 6:51. What does this mean for us today?
By equa$ng himself with Bread ….and Life, I say
1. Only Jesus brings us eternal life.
2. [Very important] Jesus is God. And only God can grant eternal life.
By coming to Jesus, believing in Jesus and receiving Jesus, he will sa$sfy our physical and spiritual hunger and thirst. It is not a surprise when
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that God has placed the desire for eternity in our
hearts. Humanity was made to be with God. And, God wants us to be
with him.

6. Camino, la Verdad, la Vida: "Yo soy el camino, y la verdad, y la vida; Nadie
va al Padre sino por mí "Juan 14: 6
7. La verdadera vid: "Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el labrador."
Juan 15: 1
En el sexto capítulo de Juan, Jesús una vez más dice: "Yo soy el pan de Vida". Juan 6:51.
¿Qué significa esto para nosotros hoy?
Compara a sí mismo con el pan... y la vida, yo digo
1. Sólo Jesús nos trae la vida eterna.
2. [Muy importante] Jesús es Dios, y sólo Dios puede concedernos la vida
eterna.
Al venir a Jesús, creer en Jesús y recibir a Jesús, Él no sa$sface nuestra hambre Wsica y espiritual y la sed. No es una sorpresa cuando Eclesiastés 3:11
dice que Dios ha puesto el deseo de la eternidad en nuestros corazones. La
humanidad se hizo para estar con Dios, y Dios quiere que estemos con Él.

Remember, any amount collected over our parish goal, we keep
half of it. The parish must make up the difference if we don’t
achieve our goal.
God Is Calling You to a Deeper Rela9onship with Him
If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church
is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage
counselors.” They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted,
calling us to return to our covenant rela$onship with God. They
urge us to repentance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce
the blessings of faithfulness. Their prophe$c words speak to us
even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom.
St. Thomas More will begin The Prophets: Messengers of God’s
Mercy Study, three $mes each week beginning Monday September
14th at 7pm, Wednesday Sep.16th at 10 am and Thursday Sep.
17th at 7pm. The 10 week study will end the week prior to Thanksgiving. For more informa$on or to register for the study visit the
registra$on table ager Mass or Deacon Ed Gosline in the parish
office (713-729-0221). I encourage you to join us. You will find it
enriching and inspira$onal.
