Congratulations to the families with children just receiving sacraments of communion and confirmation this weekend. The young people are on fire with their faith! We invite parents to consider Catholic education at our very own Christ the King Catholic School. Every day, students in Catholic Schools pray as they learn the traditional subjects found in every school. Through religion classes, they continue what you have started in your home, and they learn to see the world through a Catholic lens. For more information about the scholarships available and enrolling your child in Catholic School, please contact the school office at (480)844-4480 or visit the website at www.CTK-CatholicSchool.org. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Enter the church through the emergency exits located north and south of the Sanctuary off Hunt Street. From Our Parochial Administrator... The Courtyard Project Update CTK has embarked on preparing a Master Plan for the ultimate transformation of the church property into a spiritual campus worthy of its Mission. Our church has grown its mandate to better serve the congregation and to reach out to welcome new members from within Arizona, other states, and countries. To achieve this end, during the past 3 years, the congregation has met several challenges to improve the building and its infrastructure, and to provide venues to accommodate ever changing needs. For example: • New confessionals • Modernization of the sanctuary, including the transfer of the choir area from the north to the south side, new wall and floor tiles, creation of arches, opening up the sanctuary space and installing rails, creating a true narthex and redesigning the main entrances, and providing more light to the church by installing glass interior walls. • New Sanctuary hardware including a beautiful new paschal candle stand, sanctuary lamp holder and altar candle holders. To come: • New altar, ambo, credence tables, presider and deacon chairs, altar server benches, and double wide kneelers. • New water feature in the narthex The process of upgrading the church property is not yet complete. While these disparate elements were all deserving of our attention, those that serve to bring the congregation together in an informal social setting have been thus far ignored. It is time to fulfill our vision for engagement with one another. It is time to bring our various communities together and to provide the courtyard in which that communion of spirit can occur. As of this writing, the project is about 30% complete. We expect to complete it by June 8, 2016. Pavers have been laid on the walkways. The walkways leading to the main entrance of the church are given priority. The existing Shrine Memorial bricks are temporarily wellkept inside the open lot owned by the parish across Dana Avenue. They will be placed on a walkway from the circular benches to the Wailing Wall. And if space would not be enough for the existing Shrine Memorial bricks, we will integrate them to other walkways together with the new pavers. Those who wish to buy Shrine Memorial bricks, should come and visit our parish office or Welcome Center on weekends. Please fully consider supporting this project as we move forward. Any amount including a dollar that comes from the heart is greatly appreciated. Your generosity and love make a big difference. May the Lord bless and guide us with this important project. God bless.
