calidad por parte de nuestros fabricantes, aseguramos un
personal siempre formado en el servicio técnico. Estaremos
encantados de ayudarle en todas las cuestiones sobre la

encontrará online una amplia base de datos de asistencia y
todos los documentos, drivers, instrucciones y otros consejos
sobre todos los aparatos.
Reparaciones y casos en garantía: Todos los casos en
garantía entrantes son gestionados el mismo día. Si podemos
diagnosticar nosotros mismos el fallo, repararemos inmediatamente la mercancía en nuestras instalaciones o se
transferirán al fabricante. Como centro de servicio técnico
certificado por Epson, realizamos las reparaciones en garantía
directamente in situ en nuestras instalaciones. De esta forma,
somos mucho más rápidos y competentes que los distribuidores que envían los aparatos defectuosos al fabricante.
Servicio de piezas de repuesto: Le podemos suministrar
cientos de miles de piezas de repuesto de los distintos
fabricantes. Para casi todos los productos, ofrecemos
diferentes piezas de repuesto estándar en grandes cantidades,
directamente desde nuestro almacén. En nuestra sección
de asistencia en Internet encontrará planos de despiece,
mediante los cuales podrá identificar claramente módulos
completos, piezas de desgaste e incluso tornillos individuals

SERVICIOS DE INSTALACIÓN
Con Jarltech solucionará también grandes proyectos de
instalación sin agobios. Si lo desea, configuraremos sistemas,
PCs y determinados aparatos según sus deseos antes de la
entrega y los enviamos a Vd. o directamente a sus clientes.
En este caso, sus técnicos solamente tendrán que instalar
y montar, y la laboriosa configuración no será necesaria.
Puede tratarse de la instalación de una imagen, instalación
de software TPV en un terminal táctil, reetiquetado de
determinados aparatos, como impresoras de punto de
venta o escáneres, preconfiguración de aparatos handheld
de Windows CE, o simplemente de la preinstalación de
Windows en un PC compacto. Especialmente con elevados
números de unidades ahorrará muchos gastos de personal
y tiempo en la instalación con nuestros económicos precios
globales de instalación.
Además, tanto Vd. como sus clientes tendrán mayor seguridad
de que el sistema adquirido funcione efectivamente tal como
lo desea: durante la configuración revisamos el hardware
por posibles fallos de producción o daños, de manera que
se retiran inmediatamente los aparatos que eventualmente
estén defectuosos. Le explicaremos gustosamente lo que
podamos hacer por Vd. – ¡diríjase a su persona de contacto

dinero, pagará con puntos. Le enviaremos los premios sin
ningún gasto a cualquier dirección que desee. Los premios

Sus ventajas como VIP Plata: Por alcanzar el status de
plata le abonaremos automáticamente 2.000 puntos de
bienvenida en su cuenta de puntos. Aparte de portes sin
cargo en España (excepto express y envío en Sábados) a
partir de un valor de la mercancía de 1.000 euros, pertenecerá
a partir de ese momento a un círculo reducido de participantes en promociones especiales (kits, bundles, ofertas) de
determinados productos, y de esta forma tendrá la posibilidad
de abonos adicionales de puntos. Otra ventaja del status de
plata: obtendrá un descuento adicional por el envío urgente
y el servicio de sábados. Además, le ofreceremos nuestro
servicio de Dead-on-Arrival, así como la asistencia gratuita
en nuestras instalaciones, para Vd. o para sus empleados, a

Sus ventajas como VIP Oro: Por descontado los VIPS Oro
reciben las mismas ventajas que los VIPS Plata. Pero además
al llegar a VIP Oro, recibirá 5,000 puntos de bienvenida.

a partir de 600 euros y un 25 por ciento extra de puntos.

cada aparato nuestros contratos de servicio, en Internet y
también por teléfono, de forma sencilla y sin complicaciones,
así como sin tener que rellenar formularios ni solicitudes.
Pida su hardware directamente a la hora de la compra con
una o ambas de las opciones de servicio siguientes:
Ampliación de garantía: Con un
recargo del nueve por ciento, podrá
adquirir casi todos nuestros productos
con tres años completos de garantía –
independientemente de la garantía
inicial del fabricante. Se pueden
combinar el servicio de intercambio
previo y la ampliación de la garantía.
Servicio de intercambio previo: Si durante el período de
garantía falla un aparato adquirido con la opción de intercambio
previo, bastará con una llamada de teléfono y le enviamos
inmediatamente un nuevo aparato de repuesto a Vd., o si así
lo desea, directamente a su cliente. A continuación, tendrá
diez días para devolvernos el aparato defectuoso. El aparato
de repuesto se lo quedará simplemente y no tendrá que
volver a reemplazarlo. Este servicio lo podrá obtener por
un pago único del ocho por ciento del precio del aparato.
Es válido para el plazo de garantía del fabricante, o si lo ha
adquirido también, para el plazo de garantía ampliado.

Why should a successful project not be expanded upon? Exactly, there is nothing that speaks against
the idea. Seeing what a success the Jarltech catalogues in Europe, the Middle East and in North Africa
are, while also being a unique item in the industry in printed form, Jarltech decided to also produce
a Chinese version of the catalogue. Review of the first edition: in China the catalogue is extremely
popular, thus resulting in the production of a second edition mid-year in 2013, entirely in Chinese.

Mobile Coupons: Mobile coupons are
coupons sent to an opt-in subscriber’s

traditional paper coupons are still more
widely used, mobile coupons allow

streamlining the coupon processing
chain from consumer to coupon issuer.
Mobile coupon programs typically

Mobile Ticketing: Mobile devices can
be used to distribute and redeem tickets.

be sent to the buyer via SMS to the mobile

the bar code can be scanned directly from
the mobile device at the ticket gate, which
adds more convenience for the consumer
and completely eliminates the environmental impact of paper tickets.
Mobile Loyalty Card Programs: Mobile
phones are quickly replacing traditional
printed loyalty cards. After registering
for a mobile loyalty card, consumers
receive a bar code storing their unique
loyalty membership information in their
phone. When shopping, the consumer
can use the bar code at the POS prior to
payment to receive their loyalty benefits.
Since the mobile bar code is a perfect
replacement for a physical loyalty card,
the customer can experience the same
benefits (i.e. accumulating points based
on total amount spent), yet with more
convenience.
Mobile Gift Card Programs: The gift card
industry is booming and replacing physical
cards with a mobile phone version offering many benefits to both consumers and
retailers. Mobile gift card programs allow
customers to upload and access gift cards
on their mobile device as well as purchase
gift cards for others, which can be automatically sent to the recipient’s mobile
device. This provides convenience for the
consumer and encourages larger and more
frequent purchases. Mobile gift card programs can also track usage and generate
personalized offers back to the consumer.
Finally, mobile gift card programs benefit the retailer by eliminating the cost of
card production, shipping and inventory
management. Since the program utilizes
existing transaction processes, no changes
are required at the POS or during general

Types of Symbologies
Regardless of the type of campaign you choose, it is critical to choose the right bar code
symbology in order to successfully deliver marketing messages to your audience.
There are two primary factors to consider when determining the best symbology to use:
1D / Linear Codes
2D - Codes
Using a 1D code ensures that the broadest set of imaging based bar
code readers will be compatible since linear imagers already are in
widespread use in retail. 1D codes, however, are more difficult to
reproduce accurately (compared to 2D codes) on mobile phones and
typically require more physical space. Space and screen resolution
constraints create challenges for 1D codes but if the amount of data
stored is small (e.g. 14 characters or less) 1D codes can be used
effectively and will leverage the largest existing population of installed
imaging bar code readers.
2D bar codes expand the capabilities of 1D codes by creating a
two-dimensional approach of representing information. These codes
are constructed fundamentally different than 1D codes and deliver
data in the form of squares, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns. 2D codes also have more data capacity with the ability to encode more characters in less space with better error correction than
a 1D code. The expanded capabilities make 2D codes more suitable
for more data intensive applications like ticketing and item tracking.
2D codes, however, must be read by a full-array 2D imager which are
less prominent in retail than linear imagers and laser-based readers.
Equip Your POS with the Right Scanning Technology
According to Juniper Research, two key benefits result from a
mobile marketing campaign:
• an increase in user convenience and
• greater campaign efficiencies. Juniper also identified
several hurdles of mobile marketing campaigns, such as, »the lack
of suitable point-of-sale infrastructure at the supermarket checkout
allowing for quick and easy redemption of coupons, which is critical
to the consumer shopping experience.«
A critical step in the development of a mobile bar code marketing
campaign is making sure your scanning equipment at the point-ofsale (POS) is capable of reading codes proficiently and from diverse
mobile devices. There are several features required of the scanner
to be able to successfully read bar codes from mobile devices with
the same performance and reliability as traditional printed bar codes.
Scanning Requirements:
Reading Capabilities: Bar code scanners that use laser based technology exclusively are not capable of reading codes from mobile phones.
A linear imager is the minimum scanning requirement to read 1D bar
codes from a mobile device and a full-array 2D imager is needed for
expanded 1D and 2D reading capabilities. Since linear imagers are
more common in retail environments, some retailers will be able to
save money by using their existing scanning equipment when implementing a bar code-based mobile marketing program. Linear imagers
cannot read 2D codes. Full-array 2D imagers, however, provide retailers
with additional benefits including omnidirectional reading capabilities
which allow cashiers to scan items (in this case mobile devices) with
faster and better reading performance as well as improved scanning
ergonomics since the scanner can read the code without orientation
requirements.
Proper Configuration: Most handheld imaging based bar code scanners
will read codes from a mobile phone out of the box without any configuration changes, but some scanners may require configuration changes
to enable codes on mobile phones to scan properly. Depending on the
merchandise mix, symbologies in use, and frequency of mobile phone
codes, configuration changes may be used to optimize performance. For
example, to optimize reading speed, only the bar codes that need to be
decoded should be enabled in the scanner’s software. All other bar code
symbologies should be disabled. Disabling the non-required bar codes
will decrease the time required for decoding, thus increasing the scanner’s performance.

Choose a bar code symbology to fit the needs of your
mobile marketing campaign and POS hardware
If you do not need the information capacity of a 2D code,
then a 1D bar code is a viable option. 2D codes are
easier to reproduce on mobile phones, require less space
and offer better error correction capabilities, yet are not
supported by any laser or linear imager based readers.
Whichever type of symbology is chosen, it is also important to comply with the current industry bar code specifications for both 1D and 2D codes.
Cell phone BACKLIGHT is on HIGH = SUCCESSFUL READ
Instruct users to turn the mobile device’s LCD display
backlight to maximum level
Most mobile devices today have a backlight timer which
will turn off the backlight automatically after a certain period
of time. If this timer is set to turn off the backlight before
the scanner has read the bar code or the backlight is too
dark, the performance of the scanner will be degraded. For
the best performance, scan the code within one second
of presenting the mobile device to the scanner; yet keep
in mind the backlight timer often starts once the device is
activated / unlocked for usage.

The proper white space surrounding the label is essential
to ensuring a successful read. This typically requires 5 mo
dules within the bar code. The lack of a proper Quiet Zone
will most likely result in an unsuccessful bar code read.

Ensure correct aspect ratio
The white and black ratio of the bar code needs to be within the
standard bar code specifications. Even if the code appears to have a
correct aspect ratio, the slightest distortion in the aspect ratio can
make the bar code difficult to read. An incorrect aspect ratio condition
may result if the image on the mobile device has been re-sized via
the zoom in / out feature or if the user adjusts the image magnification via display controls. Variation can also occur if the auto-orientation
feature changes the aspect ratio as the image rotates from
»landscape« to »portrait.«

the squares have become rectangles.

Most commonly, an improper aspect ratio occurs because a bar code
is displayed on a mobile device display for which it is not intended.
Since 2D codes have black and white spaces in both the height and
the width, the bar code needs to be configured correctly for the LCD
screen it will be displayed on. The table above shows resolutions for
some common cell phones and how different the resolutions can be.
To illustrate this issue, examine the difference between the iPhone
and Blackberry 8300 in the table above.
No photos of printed codes
Using a cell phone camera to take a photo of a printed bar
code to make it “mobile” will cause aspect ratio distortion.
This generally results in the bar code image being unreadable or with
greatly reduced reading performance.

Bar code resolution greater than 10 mils: Small bar
codes may be readable but codes less than 10 mils
become more and more difficult to reproduce consistently
across the wide array of LCD displays on mobile devices.
There is less tolerance for aspect ratio differences and
using such a small bar code will result in a degraded reading performance in most cases.
Test, test, test! Even identical mobile phones will display
information differently depending on the mobile service
provider and phone’s operating system. Even with thorough
testing, it is best to use a “human readable” code as a back
up in case there is a problem displaying or reading the bar
code. To limit consumer frustration, mobile marketing programs with bar codes can be limited to only tested handsets, mobile service providers and OS revision levels.
The role of the cashier: After designing a mobile marketing campaign, the next step is to ensure cashiers are
properly trained on the mobile bar code scanning redemption process. For instance, setting guidelines for whether
the cashier or customer scans the mobile device (in most
cases, this will be the customer’s responsibility) and how
the cashier scans the code (dictated by the POS layout and
scanning equipment) can impact the customer’s experience at the POS.
It is also critical for the cashier to instruct the customer in
terms of when to redeem their mobile coupon, ticket or
loyalty card, etc. Does the customer need to wait until the
end of the transaction to scan their code or can this occur
at any point during the transaction? Additionally, certain
POS layouts such as self-checkout, belted lanes or kiosks
may require the customer to redeem their offer without the
assistance of a cashier.
In this case, the customer should be properly instructed
how to do so by a POS monitor, through signage or by a
store associate.

This robust handheld scanner is especially suited

The next generation of corded industrial scanners is here: the
Datalogic PD9500 from the successful PowerScan family puts its best
foot forward. Its housing is of course robust and the current decoding
engine delivers a previously unheard of scanning performance,
plus also reliably scans images. Numerous drops from heights of
2 meters do not affect the PowerScan PD9500; neither do impacts
or other external influences. It is IP65 certified, protecting it against
water and dust, while also making it operational both indoors and
outdoors (-20 to +50° C).
According to the resolution of the barcodes the PD9500 has a
scanning range from direct contact up to 1 meter. For particularly high
resolution barcodes opt for the high performance version rather than the
standard version. The high-performance version features an innovative
highly liquid lens and thus combines the high-density, extended

adds a wireless area imager to its line of firstclass robust scanners that are suitable for

The extremely durable housing is made of impact-resistant ABS
plastic and is designed for constant use in industry and retail. As a
battery-powered model it still offers particularly long operating
times. It can perform over 60,000 scans per charge and has a short
charging period of only two hours, making it suitable for all applications in production and logistics. In order to make barcode scanning
possible even under very noisy conditions, the scanner is equipped

Connection to all existing systems can be achieved in three
different ways: the basic version operates as an offline mini
computer with memory. Data transmission between host and
