Cada asamblea tenía la autoriIf you or your loved know hadFoodbank: an abortion and dad de establecer un tribunal, pasar juicio sobre las ofensas The following itemsone are your needed in has Berea would like healing, please consider the Rachel’s Vinegar de la comunidad e imponer multas. Jesús a menudo imponía las manos a la gente, incurriendo así en la impureza al tocar algo impuro según las normas del tiempo y desafiando así la prohibición. FAITH ALSO means I’ve been looking at a Spanish translation of the Bible. Why are the Psalms numbered differently? Among the various translations of the Bible, two numbering systems are commonly used: a Greek numbering and a Hebrew numbering. Each system is primarily based on one of two original texts: the older Septuagint, or Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures; or the Masoretic text, a later Hebrew translation. When St. Jerome translated the Bible into the Latin Vulgate, he followed the Greek Septuagint. In Bibles using Greek numbering, certain pairs of psalms are merged into one, such as with Psalms 9 and 10 and with Psalms 114 and 115. Other psalms are divided into two psalms each, such as with Psalms 116 and 147. Hebrew-numbered Bibles, therefore, may list psalms a bit lower or higher than Greek-numbered ones. The resulting numerical difference is what you are witnessing in your Spanish Bible. Other examples of Greek-numbered Bibles would be the Douay-Rheims and those used in Eastern Orthodox churches. Many modern English Bibles, especially those used in Protestant churches, follow the Hebrew numbering. But numbers aside, most contemporary versions of the Bible draw from several sources— including the Greek Septuagint, Masoretic Hebrew, Latin Vulgate, and Dead Sea Scrolls—to create an accurate and effective Old Testament translation, whether in English or Spanish. Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Is 50: 5-9a / Ps 116: 1-6, 8-9 / Jas 2: 14-18 / Mk 8: 27-35 9:00 a.m. (Berea): Mass - St. Clare Parishioners 11:00 a.m. (Berea): Spanish Mass - Fr. Eulices 11:45 a.m. (St. Paul): Mass - St. Paul Parishioners Reflection on the Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Peter acts in this story as many of us would. Jesus’s forecast of the future seems like doom and gloom to the disciples. They must have felt he was just having a bad day, and so Peter tries to pick him up and encourage him. Jesus will have none of it. Sometimes we are guilty of trying to move people too quickly to a place of comfort without giving them the chance to make peace with their sin, their illness, their loss. Rather than listening to people work things out for themselves, we are quick to pose a solution to their problems, an easy way out of their dilemma. As Jesus suggests, however, the cross is burdensome and worthy of lengthy contemplation. † Sunday Prayers for Catholics Liturgical Ministers Sat, September 12, 2015 Lector: Fred DeRosset Ministers of Holy Communion: Katherine Christensen, Janey West Sun, September13, 2015 Greeters: Mary & Keith Johnson Host: Keith Johnson Lectors: Ann Marie Stuber, Pat Hickey Ministers of Holy Communion: Linda Fraley, Bruce Fraley, Dennis Jacobs, Mari Rucker, Bob Rucker Servers: Mandy Shoemaker, Kaylee Shoemaker th Prayer to the Holy Family GPS - meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in the office. The best preparation for work in a ministry setting is solid and broad coursework, strong internships that stretch the students understanding of ministry, and intentional discernment and formation. Lay ministry is an option for those who are unable to be ordained or who do not feel called to ordination. Lay ministers have been selected for youth work, children’s ministry, musical leadership, visitation, and many forms of chaplaincy as well. The turnaround on lay positions is shorter than that for ordained positions. There are a number of ways to support ordained and lay minis- ters and its goals. We will have a second collection on September 19-20, 2015 for the formation of ordained and lay ministers.
