Mensaje de Seguridad para Instaladores de equipos luces aviso
La vida de las personas depende de la correcta instalación y servicio de mantenimiento de nuestros productos.
Es importante que lea, entienda y siga las instrucciones incluidas con este producto. Asimismo, a continuación
señalamos algunas precauciones y normas de seguridad importantes que deberá seguir al realizar la
instalación:
•
Para instalar adecuadamente esta luz, usted debe tener un buen conocimiento de electricidad del
automóvil, además de formación en la instalación y utilización de equipos de seguridad.
•
NO instale equipo o cableado en la vía de despliegue de un airbag.
•
Cuando proceda a taladrar la estructura o chapa del vehículo, asegúrese que ambos lados de la
superficie se encuentran libres de cualquier elemento que pudiera resultar dañado.
•
Para ser un dispositivo de aviso eficaz, un sistema de aviso de emergencia emite una luz brillante que
puede ser peligrosa para la vista cuando se mira a una corta distancia. No mire directamente a la luz
demasiado cerca o podría sufrir daños permanentes a sus ojos.
•
No manipule los cables, la fuente de alimentación, o de las luces led o quite la carena mientras el equipo
está conectado. Después de desconectar la alimentación de la unidad, espere cinco minutos antes de
manipular cualquier pieza del sistema de LED.
•
Para que la luz pueda funcionar adecuadamente, debe instalarse una conexión separada a masa. En
el caso de que sea posible, aconsejamos conectarla al terminal negativo de la batería. Como mínimo
debería fijarse a un elemento metálico sólido o a una parte del chasis, que proporcionen una toma de
masa efectiva cuando la luz sea utilizada.
•
Disponga el control de la luz de modo que el VEHICULO y el CONTROL puedan ser manejados con
seguridad bajo cualquier condición de conducción.
•
Si un asiento del vehículo se retira temporalmente, compruebe con el fabricante del vehículo si el asiento
tiene que ser recalibrado para el correcto despligue del airbag.
•
No intente activar o desactivar el control de luces mientras conduce en una situación de peligro.
•
Vd. debería revisar frecuentemente la luz para asegurarse que funciona adecuadamente y que se
encuentra convenientemente fijada al vehículo.
•
Conserve estas instrucciones en un lugar seguro y remítase a ellas cuando efectúe operaciones de
mantenimiento y/o reinstale el producto.
El no cumplimiento de esta normas de precaución puede dar como resultado daños a la propiedad, lesiones
graves o muerte tanto para Vd. como para otras personas.
Desembalaje de la luz de aviso
Después de desmbalar la unidad, inspeccione los daños que pudiesen haber ocurrido durante el transporte.
Si se ha dañado, presente una reclamación inmediatamente al transportista, e indique la importancia de estos.
Revise cuidadosamente todos los sobres, etiquetas de envío y las etiquetas antes de removerlos o destruirlos

Precauciones de instalación
DESPLIEGUE DEL AIRBAG - No instale la luz o coloque el cableado en el
espacio donde se despliega el airbag. El incumplimiento de esta advertencia,
reducirá la eficacia del airbag o podría desprender la luz y causar lesiones
graves o muerte.
ESTRUCTURA - Hay un nervio de soporte de techo que cubre la distancia entre
el conductor y el lado del pasajero. ¡NO TALADRE A TRAVÉS DE ESTE NERVIO!
Ajuste cualquier posición de los taladros hasta que los agujeros pueden ser
realizados sin pasar por este nervio. El incumplimiento de esta advertencia,
debilita el techo del vehículo y puede conducir a una mayor probabilidad de
lesiones corporales o la muerte en un accidente con vuelco.
EXPLOSIÓN DE LA BATERÍA - Para evitar una explosión de la batería, siempre
desconecte primero el cable negativo de la batería y vuelva a conectarlo el
último. Evite una chispa cuando se conecta cerca de o a la batería. Los gases
producidos por la batería puede causar una explosión de la batería que puede
causar daños al vehículo y lesiones graves.
PRECAUCIONES TALADRADO - Al taladrar agujeros, revise el área en la que va
a taladrar para asegurarse de no dañar los componentes del vehículo. Todos
los agujeros deben ser desbarbados y todos los bordes afilados deben ser
suavizados. Todas los cableados que pasan a través de agujeros deben ser
protegidos por una arandela o pasacables.
Preparando la Superficie de Montaje (Modelo montaje en superficie)
Se requiere un fusible y soporte de fusible, suministrado por el instalador, con una capacidad de corriente de
por lo menos 5 amperios. También se requiere un interruptor de instalación, suministrado por el instalador,
con una capacidad de corriente de por lo menos 10 amperios, cable de 18 AWG (mínimo) y un pasacable.
Seleccione las herramientas de montaje adecuadas para la instalación y planifique toda la ruta del cableado
antes de la instalación.
Preparar la superficie de montaje:
1.
Coloque el vehículo sobre una superficie nivelada. Seleccione una posición de montaje relativamente
plana para la luz que proporcione una rigidez suficiente para apoyarla y evite las vibraciones causadas
en la luz cuando el vehículo está en movimiento.
2.
Use la junta de goma como plantilla, marcando las posiciones de los taladros de montaje en la superficie
de montaje. Coloque la junta de goma en la superficie de montaje sobre los taladros de montaje. Marque
la posición del taladro para los cables sobre la superficie de montaje a través de la junta.
3.
Seleccione las herramientas de montaje apropiadas para la instalación. Realice los taladros en los tres
orificios de montaje marcados. Realice un taladro para los cables sobre la superficie de montaje. Quite
todas las rebabas y bordes afilados.
NOTA: Las luces de fijación permanente del Grupo 3 necesitan tres tornillos M4 x 0,7 de 16 mm de
largo suministrados por el instalador. Diferentes superficies de montaje pueden requerir tornillos de
longitud diferente suministrados por el instalador.
4.
Instale un pasacable, suministrado por el instalador, en el taladro de entrada de los cables.

Instalación del modelo Montaje en Superficie
Para instalar la luz:
1.
Pase los cables rojo y negro a través de la junta de goma y del pasacables de la superficie de montaje.
2.
Instale un interruptor, suministrado por el instalador, con una capacidad de corriente mínima de 10
amperios en un lugar que permita que el vehículo y todos los controles funcionen de manera segura en
todas las condiciones de conducción (Figura 1).

NOTA: La polaridad SE DEBE observar para su correcto funcionamiento. El cable azul se conecta
al positivo y el cable marrón se conecta al negativo. Si las conexiones están invertidas, la luz no
funcionará. Utilice un cable de 18 AWG para longitudes menores de 7 metros. Para cableado mayor
de 7 metros, seleccione el diámetro apropiado. Asegúrese que el voltaje del vehículo alimentación está
dentro del rango de voltaje especificado en la luz LED.
3.
Enrute el cable azul, suministrado por el usuario, de 18 AWG (mínimo) del lado del interruptor de la luz y
conéctelo al cable azul de la luz.
4.
Instalar un portafusibles en el cable azul, suministrado por el instalador, lo más cerca posible a la
batería. Instale un fusible de 5 amperios (mínimo) en el portafusibles. Conectar el portafusible entre una
fuente de alimentación positiva y el cable azul del otro lado del interruptor.
5.
Enrute el cable marrón, suministrado por el usuario, de 18 AWG (mínimo) con una apropiada toma de
masa del vehículo y conéctelo al cable marrón.
6.
Instale el pasacable en el taladro de paso del cable. Para evitar fugas de agua, aplique un compuesto
de sellado de silicona alrededor de los cables y del pasacables que pasan a través de la superficie de
montaje.
7.
Instale la luz en la superficie de montaje usando los tres tornillos.

Instalación del modelo montaje DIN
Los modelos montaje DIN usan una instalación con conexión/montaje DIN 14 620-AR. Planifique todo el
trazado del cableado antes de instalar la luz de aviso. Si un interruptor, suministrado por el instalador, se
utiliza, debe tener una capacidad de corriente mínima de 10 amperios. Se requieren un fusible, suministrado
por el instalador, y soporte de fusible con una capacidad de corriente mínima de 5 amperios.
Para instalar la luz montaje DIN en el vehículo:
1.
Afloje la tuerca de mariposa en la base de la luz.
2.
Inserte la luz en el conector DIN. Asegúrese de que el conector está colocado en la base de la luz.
3.
Apriete la tuerca de mariposa hasta que la base quede bien ajustada en el conector DIN.
4.
Instale un fusible (suministrado por el instalador) en el cable rojo (positivo) de la luz y un fusible de 5
amperios (mínimo) en el portafusibles.
Probando la instalación
PELIGRO LUZ - Para ser un dispositivo de aviso eficaz, un sistema de aviso de
emergencia emite una luz brillante que puede ser peligrosa para la vista cuando
se mira a corta distancia. No mire directamente a la luz demasiado cerca o
podría sufrir daños permanentes en sus ojos.
Después de la instalación, pruebe la luz para asegurarse que está funcionando correctamente. También
pruebe todas las funciones del vehículo, incluido el cláxon, las funciones de seguridad y los sistemas de
iluminación para asegurar un funcionamiento adecuado. Asegúrese que la instalación no ha afectado al
funcionamiento del vehículo o cambiado cualquiera de las funciones de seguridad del mismo o circuitos. No
pruebe el sistema de iluminación del vehículo durante la conducción. Utilizar sistemas de aviso de vehículos
puede suponer un peligro para el usuario y los demás conductores si los sistemas no funcionan como se
esperaba. Pruebe el vehículo sólo en un entorno controlado. Después de completar la prueba, proporcione
una copia de estas instrucciones al personal de formación y todo el personal de uso.
Mantenimiento y Servicio de la luz de aviso
Establecer un programa de mantenimiento regular de la luz de advertencia alarga la vida útil de la luz y
garantiza su seguridad. Compruebe periódicamente que la luz funciona correctamente y que todo el sistema
de montaje está bien sujeto al vehículo. Además, inspeccione la carena en busca de grietas, rajaduras
(grietas), decoloración y otros defectos.
Limpieza de la carena
RESQUEBRAJAMIENTO / DETERGENTES DE LIMPIEZA - El uso de materiales
de limpieza, como detergentes fuertes, disolventes y productos derivados
del petróleo, puede causar resquebrajamiento (grietas) de la carena.
Para su limpieza, utilice un paño suave con agua y detergente suave. El
incumplimiento de esta advertencia puede dañarlas, lo que reduce la eficacia
del sistema de iluminación y puede causar lesiones o la muerte.
RESQUEBRAJAMIENTO / PRODUCTOS QUÍMICOS - una carena rota, agrietada,
o difuminada reduce la intensidad de la luz y la eficacia del sistema de
iluminación. Una carena con este tipo de envejecimiento debe ser reemplazada.
El incumplimiento de esta advertencia puede causar lesiones o la muerte.
La suciedad en la carena de plástico reduce la eficacia de la luz de aviso. La limpieza periódica no sólo
mantiene la eficacia de la luz de aviso sino que prolonga la vida de la carena.

Limpiar la carena:
1. Enjuague la carena con agua tibia para aflojar la suciedad y los escombros.
2. Use un jabón suave, agua tibia y un paño suave para limpiar suavemente las superficies de plástico.
Para evitar daños en la carena, no utilice demasiada presión o limpiadores cáusticos, abrasivos, o
derivados del petróleo.
3. Enjuague la carena y séquela con un paño suave para evitar manchas de agua.
Para eliminar pequeños arañazos y rayas, utilice limpiador/pulimento de plásticos específico y un
paño suave. También puede usar una cera de alta calidad o pasta limpiadora de automovil que no sea
abrasiva.

Safety Message to Installers of Warning Light Equipment
People’s lives depend on your proper installation and servicing of our products. It is important to read,
understand, and follow all instructions shipped with this product. In addition, listed below are some other
important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:
•
To properly install this light, you must have a good understanding of automotive electrical procedures and
systems along with proficiency in the installation and use of safety warning equipment.
•
DO NOT install equipment or route wiring in the deployment path of an airbag.
•
When drilling into a vehicle structure, be sure that both sides of the surface are clear of anything that could
be damaged.
•
To be an effective warning device, an emergency warning system produces bright light that can be
hazardous to your eyesight when viewed at a close range. Do not stare directly into the lights at a close
range or permanent damage to your eyesight may occur.
•
Do not handle cables, the power supply, or led lamp or remove the dome while the equipment is
connected. After disconnecting power to the unit, wait five minutes before handling any parts of the led
system.
•
In order for the light to function properly, a separate ground connection must be made. If practical, it
should be connected to the negative battery terminal. At a minimum, it may be attached to a solid metal
body or chassis part that will provide an effective ground path as long as the light system is to be used.
•
Locate the light control so the VEHICLE and CONTROL can be operated safely under all driving
conditions.
•
If a vehicle seat is temporarily removed, verify with the vehicle manufacturer if the seat needs to be
recalibrated for proper airbag deployment.
•
Do not attempt to activate or deactivate the light control while driving in a hazardous situation.
•
You should frequently inspect the light to ensure that it is operating properly and that it is securely
attached to the vehicle.
•
File these instructions in a safe place and refer to them when maintaining and/or reinstalling the product.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious injury, or death.
Unpacking the Warning Light
After unpacking the light, inspect it for damage that may have occurred in transit. If it has been damaged, file a
claim immediately with the carrier, stating the extent of damage. Carefully check all envelopes, shipping labels,
and tags before removing or destroying them.
2 LED Warning Lights
Installation Precautions
AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT—Do not install equipment or route wiring in the
deployment path of an airbag. Failure to observe this warning will reduce the
effectiveness of the airbag or potentially dislodge the equipment, causing
serious injury or death.
ROOF SUPPORT STRUCTURE—There is a roof support member that spans the
distance between the driver and passenger side. DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THIS
MEMBER! Adjust any hole locations until the holes can be drilled without going
through this member. Failure to follow this warning will weaken the roof of the
vehicle and may lead to an increased chance of bodily injury or death in a rollover accident.
BATTERY EXPLOSION—To avoid a battery explosion, always disconnect the
negative battery cable first and reconnect it last. Avoid a spark when connecting
near or to the battery. The gases produced by a battery can cause a battery
explosion that could result in vehicle damage and serious injury.
DRILLING PRECAUTIONS—When drilling holes, check the area into which you
are drilling to be sure you do not damage vehicle components. All drilled holes
should be deburred and all sharp edges should be smoothed. All wire routings
going through drilled holes should be protected by a grommet or convolute/split
loom tubing.
Preparing the Mounting Surface (Surface-Mount Model)
An installer-supplied fuse and fuse holder with a current capacity of at least 5 amperes are required. Also
required are an installer-supplied switch with a current capacity of at least 10 amperes, 18 AWG (minimum)
wire, and a grommet. Select appropriate mounting hardware for the application and plan all wire routing before
the installation.
To prepare the mounting surface:
1.
Position the vehicle on a level surface. Select a relatively flat mounting position for the light that provides
sufficient rigidity to support it and prevents vibrations caused by the light when the vehicle is in motion.
2.
Using the rubber gasket as a template, scribe mounting hole locations on the mounting surface. Place
the rubber gasket on the mounting surface over the mounting hole locations. Scribe a wire-routing hole
location on the mounting surface through the gasket.
3.
Select the appropriate mounting hardware for the application. Drill holes at the three scribed mountinghole locations. Drill a hole at the scribed wire routing hole location. Remove all burrs and sharp edges.
NOTE: Group 3 permanent mount lights need an installer-supplied three M4 X 0.7 screws that are 16
mm long. Different mounting surfaces may require installer-supplied screws of a different length.
4.
Install an installer-supplied grommet in the wire-routing hole.
3 LED Warning Lights
Installing the Surface Mount Model
To install the light:
1.
Route the wiring harness through the rubber gasket and through the grommet in the mounting surface.
2.
Install an installer-supplied switch with a current capacity of at least 10 amperes at a location that allows
the vehicle and all controls to be operated safely under all driving conditions (Figure 1).

NOTE: Polarity MUST be observed for proper operation. The blue wire connects to positive and the
brown wire connects to negative. If the connections are reversed, the light will not function. Use 18 AWG
wire for runs under 7 meters. For wire runs over 7 meters, select an appropriate gauge. Ensure that the
vehicle’s supply voltage is within the voltage rating specified on the led light.
3.
Route a user-supplied 18 AWG (minimum) blue wire from one side of the switch to the light and connect
it to the blue wire of the light.
4.
In the blue wire install an installer-supplied in-line fuse holder as close as practical to the battery. Install a
5-ampere fuse (minimum) in the fuse holder. Connect the fuse holder between a positive voltage source
and the blue wire of the other side of the switch.
5.
Route a user-supplied 18 AWG (minimum) brown wire from a known good vehicle ground to the light and
connect it to the brown wire of the light.
6.
Install the grommet in the wire-routing hole. To prevent water leakage, apply a silicone sealing compound
around the wires and grommet where they pass through the mounting surface.
7.
Install the light on the mounting surface using three screws.
4 LED Warning Lights
Installing DIN-Mounted Warning Light
DIN-mounted models use a DIN 14 620-AR mounting/connection installation. Plan all wire routing before
installing the warning light. If an installer-supplied switch is used, it must have a current capacity of at least 10
amperes. An installer-supplied fuse and fuse holder with a current capacity of at least 5 amperes are required.
To install the DIN-mounted light on the vehicle:
1.
Loosen the wing nut on the base of the light assembly.
2.
Slide the light assembly onto the DIN connector. Ensure that the connector is seated in the base of the light.
3.
Finger-tighten the wing nut until the base is snug on the DIN connector.
4.
Install a fuse holder (installer-supplied) in the red (positive) lead of the light and an 5-ampere (minimum)
fuse in the fuse holder.
Testing the Installation
LIGHT HAZARD—To be an effective warning device, an emergency warning
system produces bright light that can be hazardous to your eyesight when
viewed at a close range. Do not stare directly into the lights at a close range or
permanent damage to your eyesight may occur.
After the installation, test the light to ensure that it is operating properly. Also test all vehicle functions,
including horn operation, vehicle safety functions, and vehicle lighting systems to ensure proper operation.
Ensure that the installation has not affected the vehicle operation or changed any vehicle safety functions
or circuits. Do not test the light system of the vehicle while driving. Operating the vehicle warning systems
may pose a hazard to the operator and other drivers if the systems do not function as expected. Test the
vehicle only in a controlled environment. After testing is complete, provide a copy of these instructions to the
instructional staff and all operating personnel.
Maintaining and Servicing the Warning Light
Establishing a regular maintenance schedule for the warning light extends the life of the light and ensures
safety. Periodically check that the light operates properly and that all mounting hardware is securely fastened
to the vehicle. Also, inspect the dome for cracks, crazing (hairline cracks), discoloration, and other defects.
Cleaning the Dome
CRAZING/CLEANING SOLUTIONS—The use of cleaning solutions, such as
strong detergents, solvents, and petroleum products, can cause crazing
(hairline cracks) of the dome. To clean the dome, use a soft cloth and a
solution of water and a mild detergent. Failure to follow this warning can
damage them, reducing the effectiveness of the lighting system, which may
result in injury or death.
CRAZING/CHEMICALS—A crazed, cracked, or faded dome reduces the light
output and the effectiveness of the lighting system. A dome showing this type
of aging must be replaced. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury or
death.
Dirt on the plastic dome reduces the effectiveness of the warning light. Periodic cleaning not only
maintains the effectiveness of the warning light, but prolongs the life of the dome.
5 LED Warning Lights
To clean the dome:
1.
Rinse the dome with lukewarm water to loosen dirt and debris.
2.
Use a mild soap, lukewarm water, and a soft cloth to gently clean the plastic surfaces. To avoid
damaging the dome, do not use heavy pressure or caustic, abrasive, or petroleum-based cleaners.
3.
Rinse the dome and dry it with a soft cloth to prevent water spotting.
To remove fine scratches and haze, use a specialty plastic cleaner/polish and a soft cloth. You can also
use a high quality automotive paste cleaner/wax that is non-abrasive.
