SPEAKING OUT IN LOVE
In the final verses of
today’s Gospel reading
Jesus says that when
two or three are gathered in his name, “there
am I in the midst of
them” (Matthew 18:20).
So we understand that fraternal
correction is always undertaken in
the presence of Jesus Christ.
Likewise, encouraging the
good in others is not only the right
thing for us to do, it is a necessity.
The LORD tells the prophet Ezekiel
that if he does not speak out to dis-
suade a person from
evil, then he too will be
held responsible.
We live in a “do your
own thing” age where
moral objectivity is
often ignored. Clearly when the
message we share with others is
rooted in love, our motives cannot
ever be misinterpreted. As Saint
Paul writes, “Love does no evil to
the neighbor; hence, love is the
fulfillment of the law” (Romans
13:10).

A Message from Our Pastor
I am delighted to announce that Kim Baggao is the new Confirmation
Coordinator for our parish. As someone who went through the program
herself as a youth and has assisted in the program as an adult, she is
uniquely qualified for this position. Also, Mary Beth Lee has agreed to be
Assistant Coordinator. Santa Ines is blessed to have these faith-filled
leaders who will assist our young Confirmation candidates to grow in
their own faith development. Thank you, Kim and thank you Mary Beth!

The Divine Mercy Cenacle begins a
new year of study on Tuesday, September 9, at 9:30 AM, in classroom
B. Come early for coffee and sweets.
Next weekend, September 13 & 14,
the second collection will be for the
annual Mission Cooperative appeal.
Fr. Jim Varela, a representative of the
Diocese of Catarman, Philippines,
will speak at all the Masses.
Our first “Founding Day Mass”
will be celebrated on September 17
at 7:00 PM in the Mission Church.
Don’t miss this historic event celebrating 210 years since the founding of our Mission. The “Mass of
Santa Ines” will be sung for the first
time. Come experience the beauty
of this tri-lingual Mass in Latin,
English, and Spanish.

bendición para nuestra parroquia Santa Ines tener estas líderes de fe que

HABLAR CON AMOR
En los versículos
finales del Evangelio de
hoy Jesús dice que cuando dos o tres se reúnen
en su nombre, “yo estoy
ahí en medio de ellos”. Por eso entendemos que las correcciones fraternales siempre se hacen con Jesús presente ante nosotros.
De la misma manera, animar el
bien en otros no es sólo lo correcto,
sino que es una necesidad. El Señor
le dice al profeta Ezequiel que “si no
habla” para que la persona se aparte

Ley” (Romanos 13:10).
