Macronutrients intake by the Spanish population: systematic review Carmina Wanden-Berghe - Hospital General Universitario de Alicante; Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Y Biomédica de Alicante (ISABIAL-FISABIO) Álvaro M. Franco-Pérez - Centro de Salud de Playa Blanca. Servicio Canario de Salud María Sanz-Lorente - Centro de Salud Pública de Manises, Valencia Liliana Melian-Fleitas - Hospital Insular de Lanzarote Federico Lara Villoslada - Responsable de I+D, Lactalis Puleva Ángel Gil – Universidad de Granada Javier Sanz-Valero - Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche; ISABIAL-FISABIO SUN-P186 Email: [email protected] Rationale Results • To review the scientific literature about macronutrients intake of the Spanish population to know its evolution and changes in the past three decades • Intake in grams of macronutrients in the time to study, demonstrated that in the case of proteins and carbohydrates, there was no difference (p=0,917 and p=0,801); also not there was statistical difference in relation to consumption of carbohydrates (p=0,552). • Cholesterol, saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids no experienced variation (p=0,233; p=0,842 and p=0,653), as do that of monounsaturated (p=0,209). • The evolution of alcohol intake in grams showed decreasing and significant trend (p=0,026). The average percentage of macronutrients in the total caloric volume, showed a dietary profile of 18% proteins, 38% fats and 44% carbohydrates. • The group aged between 16 and 65 years was the most amount of protein consumed (p=0,026). Methods • Critical analysis of the indexed works in the bibliographic databases MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, LILACS, TDR and Google Scholar, using the Descriptors "Recommended Dietary Allowances", "Nutritional Requirements", "Food Habits", "Energy Intake" , "Diet Records" and "Diseases Category" to eliminate disease-related publications; applying the filter "Humans". • Were excluded those that don't provide empirical information about the nutritional intake, it wasn't studied Spanish population or included some kind of pathology. • It was established that the concordance between authors should exceed than 80%. • To assess the articles quality, the guidelines STROBE for observational studies were used. Conclusion • No significant changes were observed in macronutrients intake of the Spanish population in the last three decades, with the exception of alcohol which showed declining trend.
