Es director, productor, guionista, cameraman,
programador. Ha realizado numerosos
cortos, videoclips y telefilms. Sus principales
documentales son: Muertes indebidas, Dante en
la casa grande, Tanke PAPI, Isla de fuegos y El
gran río. Acaba de editar el corto ficción Vera y
trabaja en el desarrollo de su primer largo de
ficción: Yo me llamo…
Director, producer, screenwriter, festprogrammer, cameraman. He made several
short films, video clips and TV films. His main
documentaries are: Unlawful Deaths, Dante in
the bigger house, PAPI Tank, Fire Island and The
Mighty River. He just edited the fiction short Vera
and is developing his first fiction feature film:
They Call Me…
David Bangoura –Black Doh–, joven rapero africano, sabe que tiene que irse de Guinea, huir de la
inestabilidad política, de la miseria y el hambre. Luego de cinco intentos de entrar de polizón a Europa,
termina viajando veinte días escondido en un agujero sobre el timón de un barco transatlántico. El
destino: Rosario, República Argentina. Allí es acogido como refugiado y puede cumplir su sueño de
hacer música. El director Plataneo se acercó a David intrigado por algo que –antes de que en Rosario se
dragara el río para permitir la entrada de barcos de gran calado a partir del auge del cultivo de soja– no
sucedía: la llegada de decenas de inmigrantes africanos, que habían arriesgado sus vidas por llegar a
otro lugar que no fuera su patria. El gran río parte de una certeza: que la música de David proviene de
sus raíces y se propone restablecer el contacto con su familia y con el continente que dejó atrás. Así, el
documentalista se transforma en el puente que lleva las buenas nuevas: la música de David –su primer
disco que canta en una mezcla de francés, soussou y español– a África, la noticia de su paradero a su
familia, a la vez que examina el encuentro y el choque de culturas.
David Bangoura –Black Doh–, a young African rapper, knows he has to leave Guinea, run away from
the political instability, from misery and hunger. After five attempts to enter Europe as a stowaway, he
ends up travelling for twenty days hidden in a hole above the rudder of a transatlantic ship. Destination:
Rosario, Argentina. There he is taken in as refugee and can fulfill his dream of making music. Director
Plataneo approached David intrigued by something that –before the river in Rosario was dredged to
allow the access of ships of large draught due to the boom in soy plantations- did not use to happen:
the arrival of dozens of African immigrants, who had risked their lives to get anywhere other than their
homeland. The Mighty River sets off from a truth: David’s music comes from his roots and sets out to
reestablish the contact with his family and the continent he left behind. In this way, the documentary
maker becomes the bridge that carries the good news: David’s music –his first record in which he sings
in a mix of French, Susu and Spanish– to Africa, the news of his whereabouts to his family, at the same
time as he examines the meeting and clash of cultures.
