Background
Pedro G. Romero was born in Aracena, Huelva, in 1964. In 1986, he made his first solo
exhibition and, shortly after, in 1988 and 1989, he made two equally relevant
exhibitions: Magatzem d’idees [Magazine of Ideas], at the Montcada hall in Barcelona’s
Fundación La Caixa, and La sección áurea [The golden section] at the Luis Cernuda Foundation
in Seville. Between 1990 and 1994 he received important awards such as the Spanish National
Radio prize “El Ojo Crítico” or a scholarship from Cartier Foundation in
Paris. During that period, he also exhibited his works at relevant galleries in Spain such as
Fúcares, Tomás March, Juana de Aizpuru, among others. In recent years, he’s been working in
his project Archivo F.X., which has been extensively shown in spaces such as the Antonio
Tàpies Foundation in Barcelona, the MNCARS in Madrid, the Venice Biennal, Manifesta, the
Serralves Foundation in Porto, the MUSAC in León, the Centro Cultural Montehermoso in
Vitoria, the CAPC in Bordeaux, the MUDAM in Luxemburg, the Sculpture Center in New York or
the Frankfurter Kunstverein. He has published several books about his own work.
