INVITED
The Good News is that we have all been invited—
invited to the Kingdom, invited to be disciples. It’s a lifechanging invitation, and like so many other such invitations,
it requires a great deal of deliberation and discernment.
Whether we choose marriage, ordination, single life, or community life, we know the serious planning and consideration
that accompany these profound decisions. Like the towerbuilder in the Gospel, we have weighed both the monetary
and emotional cost. We have pondered and planned our lives
in the direction to which we believe God has called us. And
while we pray for guidance and acceptance of God’s will,
we often fail to understand so much. Like Solomon, we turn
to God for wisdom and counsel in our life-changing decisions. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
INVITADO
vida. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

of this special day.

Next weekend, please welcome Fr. Jim Henke, who will
celebrate the 9:30 and 11:30 masses, allowing Fr. Paul to take
time off for his annual family reunion. Fr. Jim is a retired
priest of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
Youth Liturgy - Our parish high school youth will gather for
our youth liturgy this coming Saturday, September 10. On
the second Saturday of each month through the school year,
our youth will provide ministries of Music, Hospitality and
Word, as well as other ways of engaging our young people in
liturgy.
New “Welcome” Sign: Look to your right passing the Benes
farm approaching Gonzales on Highway 90 from Belmont.
Thanks to Frank and Suzanne Benes for purchasing and installing the sign, and to Personal Impressions for its design
and fabrication. The sign matches the one you see coming in
on 183 from Hochheim, on Alex and Charlotte Smith’s property. We’d love to have similar signs on Highway 90 from
Shiner, and 183 from Luliing - any takers?
Spanish Men’s ACTS: …will take place Sept. 22-25 at Disciple Oaks Retreat Center. Registration forms are available at
the church entrances. Those who have already participated in
an ACTS Retreat, please help spread the word!
Food Baskets:… In this Year of Mercy, food baskets have
been placed in St. James and Sacred Heart churches, for your
donations of non-perishable foods to be shared with others in
our community through Gonzales Christian Assistance Ministries - GCAM. The baskets have been well filled; thank you
for your donations!
Religious Education - is underway! Classes in Waelder begin next weekend. We have twelve people enrolled in our
RCIA classes so far this year; please continue to pass the
word. Classes are in English at 8 am and in Spanish at 11 am.
Please remember in prayer Mr. Eddie Caraway, husband of
Mrs. Mary Gayle Caraway of our Catholic Community, who
recently died. Mr. Caraway is buried in his family cemetery.

Eucharistic Adoration this Friday: Sacred Heart
