School Wide Behavioral Expectations
The Segue Institute for Learning works hard to ensure the safety and security for all of its students. Segue incorporates a
school-wide positive behavior support system. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a system designed to promote and
maximize academic achievement and behavioral competence. It is a school-wide strategy to help all students achieve
important social and learning goals.
As part of the PBS system, we have established several clear rules and expectations for the behavior we expect in all
areas of our school. These expectations are listed in every classroom and common areas of our building. Our school rules
specifically address inappropriate behaviors, provide for a safer school environment and give more time for instruction.

Expectations:
 Be on time and prepared
 Follow directions the first time they are given
 Stay in your Assigned Area
 Use positive Language: no harassment, put downs, teasing or foul language
 Keep hands, feet, objects and other body parts to yourself
Segue has a progressive system of consequences that will be consistently followed when students do not adhere to our
school wide expectations. When students have challenges following our rules and expectations, parent involvement is
necessary in assisting Segue to implement an action plan to change disruptive behaviors.

 Parent Contact/Parent Meetings
 Teacher/Office Detention: Lunch (30 mins) or Afterschool ( up to1 hour)
 Friday Administrative Detentions (3 hours)
 Social Suspensions
 In-School/Out of School Suspension
○ Severe Behavior:
Immediate referral to office includes the following infractions: Fighting, vandalism, overt defiance (stopping the class
from functioning), weapons and drugs, etc. When a student exhibits a severe infraction or is found to be in violation of
Segue policy, the student will be disciplined accordingly, up to and including necessary placement. *Please refer to the
Segue Progressive Discipline Policy for more information on severe behavior infractions.
It is only through encouragement and positive attention that behavior is ultimately changed. We know that when good
behavior and good teaching come together, our students will excel in their learning. The positive recognition and rewards

Expectativas de Comportamiento de la Escuela
El Instituto para el Aprendizaje Segue trabaja arduamente para garantizar la seguridad de todos sus estudiantes. Segue
incorporó un sistema para toda la escuela de comportamiento positivo. Apoyo de Conducta Positivo (ACP) es un sistema
diseñado para promover y maximizar el rendimiento académico y la competencia del comportamiento. Es una estrategia
para toda la escuela para ayudar a todos los estudiantes a lograr importantes objetivos sociales y académicos.
Como parte del sistema de PBS, se han establecido varias reglas y expectativas claras para el comportamiento que
esperamos en todas las áreas de nuestra escuela. Estas expectativas se indican en cada salón de clases y áreas comunes
del edificio. Nuestra escuela de normas específicamente a las conductas inapropiadas, establecer un ambiente escolar
seguro y dar más tiempo para la instrucción.
● Expectativas:
 Llegar a tiempo y preparado
 Seguir directrices desde la primera vez que son dadas
 Permanecer en su área asignada
 Utilice un lenguaje positivo: sin acoso, insultos, burlas o lenguaje obsceno
 Mantener las manos, pies, objetos y otras partes del cuerpo a sí mismo
Segue tiene un sistema progresivo de las consecuencias que serán seguidas sistemáticamente cuando los estudiantes no
cumplen con nuestras expectativas regidas en toda la escuela. Cuando los estudiantes tienen problemas siguiendo
nuestras normas y expectativas, la participación de los padres es necesaria para ayudar a Segue a implementar un plan
de acción para cambiar las conductas disruptivas.
● Consecuencias:
 Contacto con Padres/Reuniones con Padres
 Detención con el Maestro(a)/en la Oficina: Durante el almuerzo (30 min.) o Después de clases (hasta 1 hora)
 Detención administrative los Viernes (3 horas)
 Suspensiones Sociales
 Suspensiones dentro/fuera de la escuela

Comportamiento Severo:
El referido inmediato a la oficina incluye las siguientes infracciones: Peleas, vandalismo, desafiando abiertamente
(interrumpiendo el funcionamiento normal de la clase), armas y drogas, etc. Cuando un estudiante incurre en una
infracción grave o se encuentra en violación de la política de Segue, el estudiante será disciplinado como consecuencia,
incluyendo la expulsión.
Es sólo a través del estímulo y la atención positiva que el comportamiento es en última instancia cambiado. Sabemos que
cuando el buen comportamiento y la buena enseñanza se unen, nuestros alumnos se destacan en su aprendizaje. El
reconocimiento positivo y las recompensas que se utilizan en Segue son:

Creemos que al ayudar a los estudiantes a practicar la buena conducta, podemos construir una comunidad escolar donde
todos los estudiantes tengan un ambiente donde puedan tener éxito y crecer.
