THE SANCTUARY LAMP is burning this week In Loving Memory

THE LIGHT OF FAITH
The first reading today is charged with the glory of the Lord.
Everyone who can come to the holy city does come—whole
caravans of people of all ages on foot and on dromedaries and
camels.
This description of an irresistible light-filled city prepares us for
the story of the magi. They are guided by their own lights—their
study of astronomy and astrology— and by the light of a peculiar star. Their study tells them that an unusual event in the heavens is a sign of an extraordinary birth on earth. They mean to
find out about this, and they set out with gifts worthy of a king.
They are welcomed into an insignificant house in Bethlehem,
offer gifts befitting a king, and receive the gift of faith.
Paul reinforces the great gift of faith available to the
Gentiles, whom the magi represent. What they have seen has
changed them, just as it changed Paul and all who heeded his
proclamation. Like the magi and like Paul, we are invited to
receive this life that is filled with the light of faith.

a cabo en el Family Life Center.
Padres de Estudiantes de Confirmación… Les recordamos que
cada padre necesita completar un total de 20 horas de servicio comunitario por los 2 años de preparación. En la Primavera se pondrán en marcha varios proyectos sugeridos por el Padre Pedroza
para que los padres ganen las horas de servicio comunitario. También cada padre de familia debe recibir 8 horas de Formación de Fe

ALTAR SERVERS NEXT MEETING
The next Meeting for the Altar Servers will be on January 11,
2014 at 10:00 am in Our Lady’s Chapel. New members who
have already received First Holy Communion are welcome.
The ACTS Retreat for Men will be having a Bake Sale on the
weekend of January 11 & 12, 2014 after all Masses. Please help
to make this event a success for the Men’s Retreat. Thank you.

BAPTISMAL CLASSES CHANGED
Effective immediately, baptismal classes will be held the
1st and 2nd Wednesday of each Month instead of Thursdays.
Classes will continue to be at 7:00 p.m. in CCD Rooms 1 &
2. For this Month Only, Classes in January will be combined into one session and will be held on Wednesday,
January 8th only.

On behalf of our St. Vincent
de Paul Society thank you
again for supporting their ministries in their annual Christmas Angel Tree Project. Over 800 gifts were collected and
distributed by Sr. Rose Mary Welsh to the neediest children
in the colonias and in our community. Once again, you
came through and demonstrated the true spirit of Christmas — LOVE, GIVING AND SHARING. Thank you

Canonization of Blessed John Paul II
& Blessed John XXIII (10 Days)

Father Salvador Pedroza will be hosting a 10 day pilgrimage to
Rome for the Canonization of Blessed John Paul II and Blessed
John XXIII which will depart on April 21, 2014 from San Antonio, Texas. The cost of this all-inclusive pilgrimage (except

SIGN LANGUAGE TRANSLATION
Starting this Sunday January 5, we will be offering sign language translation during the 10:30 a.m Mass every Sunday
