5. Apply fusible interfacing to WRONG side of placket following
manufacturer’s directions. With RIGHT sides together, pin
placket to RIGHT front, matching small dots. Stitch in 5/8"
(1.5cm) seam above small dot. Trim seam.
Apply remaining placket to LEFT front the same way.
Press placket out; press seam toward front.
OVERLOCK SERGER
The Serger can be used alone or as a supplement to your conventional
sewing machine as a Fast, Efficient, Functional way to sew these
garments.

CHECK FIT: Because, Overlock sewing stitches, trims and finishes all in
one operation, it is VERY important to Check Fit before stitching seams.
Use polyester/cotton thread and ball point needles.

machine ... use a narrow stitch, medium
length; trim seam to 1/4" (6mm) and overcast
edges together by machine. If you use a
straight stitch ... stretch fabric as you sew
(unless working on a firm double knit) and sew
seams 2 or 3 times close together.

7. Turn collar; press. Machine-baste raw edges together.
On OUTSIDE, pin collar (facing side up) to neck edge,
matching centers back and small dots, placing remaining
small dot at shoulder seam. Baste.
8. Turn placket to OUTSIDE along fold line, (over collar) forming
facing. Stitch placket and collar, as basted. Trim seam.
Seams: The three thread overlock is ideal for major seams such
as...shoulder, side, underarm and sleeve seams.
For stress areas such as crotch seams and armholes, the four thread
overlock/safety stitch is best...OR, use a three thread overlock, and
stitch along seam with a conventional machine to reinforce.

9. Turn placket to INSIDE along fold line, forming facing; press,
pressing out collar. Pin raw edges of placket together, placing
pins on OUTSIDE.
On INSIDE, lap RIGHT placket over LEFT or LEFT placket
over RIGHT, matching centers. Pin lower edges of placket to
clipped edge of front, matching centers and small dots.
Stitch between small dots through all thicknesses.
Press placket and clipped edges down.
Edge Finishes: The two or three thread overlock stitch is a perfect finish
for edges of facings and hems...and a fast, easy Clean Finish for seam
allowances in unlined garments where seams are pressed open.
NOTE: A roller presser foot, used on double knits, will not stretch the top layer of
fabric and thus keeps seams even. On single knits, it will not hold tricots and
sometimes causes skipped stitches. For sweater knits, it is a must since yarn loops
catch on a regular foot.
Rolled Hem: A great, Narrow Hem alternative for finishing circular skirts,
ruffles, shawls and lingerie. See your sewing machine manual for
instructions.

4. Cut a piece of fusible interfacing remnant 1-3/4" (4.5cm) wide
and the length of the stitching line plus 1/2" (1.3cm.
Center interfacing over WRONG side of center front
extending lower edge 1/2" (1.3cm) beyond stitching lines.
Fuse in place, as shown.
To reinforce front opening, stitch along stitching lines.
Slash along center front, clipping diagonally to small dots, as
shown. Pin front to back at shoulder seams.
To prevent shoulder seam from stretching, pin center of twill
tape along seam line on front shoulder edge.

center small dot at shoulder seam, matching remaining small
dots. Stitch/Serge.
For conventional machine- Stitch again 1/8" (3mm) from
first stitching. Trim seam below notches close to stitching.

9. To keep elastic from getting stuck in the seam allowances as
it’s inserted, use fusible web or machine-basting to anchor
them to garment within the casing area.
Be sure to remove basting after casing is finished.

matching armhole seams.
Press up hem on sleeve and lower edge.
Stitch OR zig-zag 1/4" (6mm) from raw edge and 1/4" (6mm)

11. Cut two pieces of narrow elastic and one piece of wider
elastic, each to fit waist, plus 1" (2.5cm).
Insert narrow elastic through opening in upper and lower
casing, insert wider elastic through opening in middle casing,
working elastic through all rows at same time. This eliminates
that tug-of-war that you always have when trying to pull that
last piece of elastic through an already bunched up casing.
Overlap ends and hold with safety pins.
Try on garment and adjust to fit.
Stitch ends of elastic together securely.
3. Press under 1/4" (6mm) on upper edge of pocket.
Turn upper edge to OUTSIDE along fold line, forming facing.
Stitch along seam line on raw edges; trim to 1/4" (6mm).
13. Cut a piece of twill tape 66" (168cm) long.
On OUTSIDE, insert one end of twill tape through one
buttonhole opening and out the other having ends extending
evenly. Knot ends and tie in a bow when wearing

vista hacia arriba) al borde del escote, coincidiendo los centros
atrás y puntos pequeños, colocando el otro punto pequeño en la
costura del hombro. Hilvanar.
8. Voltear el cuello hacia AFUERA a lo largo de la línea del doblez
(sobre cuello) formando una vista. Coser la abertura y cuello
como se hilvanó. Recortar la costura.
9. Voltear el cuello hacia ADENTRO a lo largo de la línea del doblez
formando una vista; planchar. Planchar el cuello hacia afuera.
Prender con alfileres juntos los bordes sin terminar del cuello,
colocando alfileres por FUERA. Por DENTRO, doblar el cuello
DERECHO sobre el IZQUIERDO o el cuello IZQUIERDO sobre el
DERECHO, coincidiendo los centros. Prender con alfileres los
bordes inferiores del cuello al borde cortado del delantero, coincidiendo los centros y puntos pequeños. Coser entre los puntos pequeños a través de todas las capas. Planchar el cuello y bordes
cortados hacia abajo.
10. Por FUERA, coser la prenda por encima cerca del cuello y costura

de la manga y borde inferior hacia arriba. Coser O hacer puntada
zigzag a 1/4" (6mm) del borde sin terminar y 1/4" (6mm) por debajo de la primera costura.
14. Hacer ojales en el cuello delantero IZQUIERDO o DERECHO.
Doblar el cuello coincidiendo los centros. Coser botones debajo
de los ojales.

puntos pequeños. Coser dejando una abertura entre los puntos
pequeños para insertar el elástico. Para reforzar la costura, coser
de nuevo sobre la primera costura. Recortar la costura en el área
curva dejando 1/4" (6mm). Planchar abierta el resto de la costura.
9. Para evitar que el elástico se trabe en los márgenes de la costura
a medida que se va insertando, usar entretela adhesiva o hilvanado a máquina para asegurarlo a la prenda dentro del área de la
jareta. Asegurarse de quitar el hilvando después de terminar la
jareta.
10. Planchar hacia ADENTRO 1-7/8" (4.8cm) el borde superior formando una jareta. Planchar hacia abajo 1/4" (6mm) el borde sin
terminar. Coser cerca del borde inferior planchado. Para formar
tres jaretas separadas, coser a 3/8" (1cm) del borde superior e inferior como se muestra.
11. Cortar dos piezas de elástico angosto y una pieza de elástico más
ancho, cada uno que ajuste la medida de la cintura más 1"
(2.5cm). Insertar el elástico angosto a través de la abertura en la
jareta superior e inferior. Insertar el elástico más ancho a través
de la abertura en la jareta media, trabajando el elástico a través
de todas las filas al mismo tiempo. Esto elimina el tira y afloje que

14. Planchar el dobladillo hacia arriba. Planchar hacia abajo 1/4"
(6mm) el borde sin terminar. Coser O hacer puntada zigzag cerca
del borde interior planchado.

NOTA: La cinta es opcional.
1. Planchar hacia abajo el margen del dobladillo del borde superior
de los bolsillos exterior e interior. Para formar un dobladillo angosto, doblar hacia abajo el borde sin terminar hasta el doblez. Planchar. Coser el dobladillo en su lugar.
2. Por FUERA, prender con alfileres la cinta al borde dobladillado de
los bolsillos, dejando un borde de la citna parejo con el borde terminado. Coser la cinta cerca de ambos bordes.
3. Planchar hacia abajo 5/8" (1.5cm) los bordes laterales del bolsillo
exterior; recortar dejando 1/4" (6mm). Por FUERA, prender con alfileres el bolsillo exterior al bolsillo interior a lo largo de las líneas
del bolsillo, coincidiendo los puntos pequeños y dejando parejos
los bordes sin terminar. Coser cerca de los bordes laterales. Hilvanar juntos los bordes sin terminar.
4. Prender con alfileres el REVES del bolsillo interior al DERECHO
del soporte del control remoto, coincidiendo los puntos grandes y
dejando parejos los bordes sin terminar. Hilvanar juntos los bordes sin terminar. Coser el bolsillo interior en su lugar a lo largo de
la línea de puntadas.
5. DERECHO CON DERECHO, coser juntas las secciones del soporte del control remoto, dejando una abertura lo suficientemente
grande para voltear. Recortar la costura y esquinas.
6. Voltear el soporte del control remoto al DERECHO; planchar. Cerrar la abertura con puntada invisible.
