Reflections from our Pastor
What does the Word say?
While the past can intimidate the present, we must keep the memory of the deeds of God for his people, to forget the fear that paralyzes and despairs: "Do
not remember how old ... " (first reading); Only the memory of the "greatness of God" is able to give us " joy " (Psalm 125) does, as a gift of God through
faith in Jesus Christ, our life is full of hope: " ... I run toward the goal ... " lived in this communion with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ ( second
reading) ; And though the past seem able to crush us , the encounter with Jesus , showing mercy of the Father, makes us look with hopeful illusion the path
of life: " Neither do I condemn . Go and sin no more.“(Gospel).
A possible Actualization of the Word in today’s reality.
It is not difficult to fall into a pessimistic attitude, in the darkness of a world charged with “bad news”, perhaps the flagellation that touches our skin
(unemployment, disgrace, illness, injustice, rejection, violence…); to fill it with hurt (rage, frustration, sadness vs. depression, fury, envy, resentment, feelings of revenge, bitter heart, aggression…). On one side, the impotence towards the consequences of our own sin and others’, and another, the experience
of indulgent pardon, that animates us to see life with “brilliant eyes”, excited and thoughtful (the Christian hope). Like Paul, we understand that: “All the
esteem lost compared to the excellence of the knowledge of Jesus Christ, my Lord”; Like the adulteress woman, we discover God calls us to dignity walking with our head high because”…. God from above calls us through Jesus Christ (Phil 3:13)
On one hand, there are those that kill (attempt in Yemen this last week) and on the other, like Jesus Christ, they continue giving their life from love and
service (4 missionaries of Charity- congregation founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta); the first has to be forgiven away from bitterness and frustrated
heart; and the second has us filled with Hope because it is the fount of forgiveness, the testimony of the martyrs of today, like we’ve been reminded by
Pope Francis as he commented in their success.
What does the Word tell me?
We all have things to remember to feed our illusion (that not the same as nostalgia, dreams of what has been or fantasy of desire), and we all have things to
leave behind to walk with hope. It’s the moment, perhaps, to be able to listen, able to feel, able to welcome, from the gospel of John, in the experience of
the adulteress woman, the nearness of God in the Words of Jesus.
What is my response?
Perhaps the Psalm of today can help us give a response, in the first place, prayerful, to create in us a grateful attitude and hopeful: “The Lord has been great
with us, and we are happy”. What is your commitment for a concrete response?
We await you this Sunday to continue celebrating the banquet of forgiveness, to continue giving each other greetings of peace and reconciliation.

“Reflexiones de nuestro Párroco”
¿Qué dice la Palabra?
Si bien lo pasado puede amedrentar en el presente, hay que mantener el recuerdo de las hazañas de Dios por su pueblo, para olvidar así el miedo
que paraliza y desespera: “No recordéis lo de antaño…” (primera lectura); Sólo el recuerdo de la “grandeza de Dios” es capaz de darnos “la alegría” (Salmo 125) que hace, como don de Dios por la fe en Jesucristo, que nuestra vida esté llena de esperanza: “… corro hacia la meta…”, vivida en
la comunión presente con la muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo (segunda lectura); Y aunque el pasado parezca capaz de aplastarnos, el encuentro
con Jesús, que muestra la misericordia del Padre, nos hace mirar con ilusión esperanzada el camino de la vida: “Tampoco yo te condeno. Anda, y
en adelante no peques más.” (evangelio).
Una posible Actualización de la Palabra en la realidad de hoy.
No es difícil caer en la actitud pesimista, en la oscuridad de un mundo cargado de “malas noticias”, quizás en el flagelo que llega a tocar nuestra
piel (falta de trabajo, desgracia, enfermedad, injusticia, rechazo, violencia…); para llenarla de heridas (rabia, frustración, tristeza versus depresión,
ira, envidias y rencores, deseos de venganzas, corazón amargado, agresión…). Por un lado, la impotencia ante las consecuencias del pecado propio
y ajeno, por otro, la experiencia del perdón indulgente, que nos anima a mirar la vida con “ojos brillantes”, emocionados y clarividentes (la esperanza cristiana). Como Pablo entendemos que: “Todo lo estimo pérdida comparado con la excelencia del conocimiento de Cristo Jesús, mi Señor”;
Como la mujer adúltera, descubrimos que Dios nos llama a la dignidad caminando con la cabeza bien alta porque “…Dios desde arriba llama en
Cristo Jesús” (Flp 3,14).
Por un lado, hay quien mata (atentado en Yemen en esta semana pasada) y por otro, quien, como Jesucristo, siguen dando la vida desde el amor y
el servicio (las 4 Misioneras de la Caridad -congregación fundada por Madre Teresa de Calcuta-); el primero tiene que ser perdonado lejos de
amargar y frustrar el corazón; y el segundo nos tiene que llenar de esperanza porque es fuente de perdón, el testimonio de los mártires de hoy,
como nos ha recordado el Papa Francisco comentando este suceso.
¿Qué me dice la Palabra?
Todos tenemos cosas que recordar para alimentar nuestra ilusión (que no es lo mismo que la nostalgia, sueño de lo que ya pasó o fantasía del deseo), y todos tenemos cosas que dejar atrás para caminar con esperanza. Es momento, quizás, para poder escuchar, para poder sentir, para poder
acoger, desde el evangelio de Juan, en la experiencia de la mujer adúltera, la cercanía de Dios en las Palabras de Jesús.
¿Cuál es mi respuesta?
Quizás el Salmo de hoy nos pueda ayudar a dar una respuesta, en primer lugar, oracional, para crear en nosotros una actitud agradecida y esperanzadora: “El Señor ha estado grande con nosotros, y estamos alegres”. ¿Cuál es tu compromiso de respuesta concreta?
Te esperamos este domingo para seguir celebrando el banquete del perdón, para seguir dándonos el saludo de la paz y la reconciliación.
