calendar. These higher ranking days include all feasts
of the Lord and those very important feasts called
solemnities which celebrate the Lord, the Blessed
Virgin Mary, and the saints.

Message from Msgr. Schwanger
My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
Our social media presence grows! In past years I invited
guest columnists to share their experience at Lourdes
either as volunteers or as special-needs pilgrims with
us upon their return. This past June we were able to be
virtually present with them at Lourdes as we had them
livestreaming and blogging from the Sanctuary itself.
Check out our new webpage and mobile application and
follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
and Livestream.
The Spirit is powerfully active among us!
As you see all those bright young faces engaged in loving
service and experience the fire that they brought home
with them remember that our Parish Festival made it
happen. Each year we use a portion of Festival proceeds
to sponsor the youth of Our Lady of Lourdes who want
to serve at Lourdes during the June Youth Pilgrimage.
Without some help from us many of our young
parishioners could not afford the full $3000 cost of
the trip.
This is all part of our Lourdes to Lourdes Mission; giving
them the experience of serving at Lourdes and having that
experience bless and enliven our Youth Ministry here at
home.
These summer months are when we begin the planning
for next year’s Festival. Fr. Javier will be taking over as the
Chairman of Festival 2017 and I would like to introduce
him to the leadership team and chairpersons of the
various booths and committees next month. I am inviting
anyone interested in serving, or renewing their service,
as a member of the leadership team or as a booth or
committee chairperson to let me know by the end of July.
If you have any ideas for something new that you would
like to pursue I would be happy to hear about that as well.
Working on the Festival is a lot of fun and a great way to
get to know the parish family.
The work we do makes a real difference. Just check out
our social media or ask one of our young parishioners
who had the chance to be a part of the June Youth
Pilgrimage to Lourdes!

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
¡Nuestra presencia en los medios sociales crece! En los
últimos años he invitado a personas a compartir con
nosotros a su regreso su experiencia en Lourdes en esta
columna, ya sea como voluntarios o peregrinos con
necesidades especiales. En junio pasado hemos podido
estar virtualmente presente con ellos en Lourdes, ya
que teníamos trasmisión en vivo y los blogs desde el
propio Santuario. Chequea nuestra nueva página web
y aplicación móvil y síguenos en Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram y Trasmisión en Vivo. ¡El Espíritu está
poderosamente activo entre nosotros!
Mientras ve todas esas caras brillantes de jóvenes
ocupados en el servicio amoroso y experimentando el
fuego que trajeron a casa con ellos, recuerde que nuestro
Festival Parroquial lo ha hecho posible. Cada año
utilizamos una parte de las ganancias del Festival para
patrocinar los jóvenes de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes
que quieren servir en Lourdes durante la Peregrinación
Juvenil de junio. Sin la ayuda de nosotros muchos de
nuestros jóvenes feligreses no podrían costearse el total de
$3,000 del viaje.
Todo esto es parte de nuestra misión de Lourdes a
Lourdes; dándoles la experiencia de servir en Lourdes
y teniendo esa experiencia bendice y da vida a nuestro
ministerio juvenil aquí en casa.
En estos meses de verano son cuando comenzamos la
planificación para el festival del próximo año. El padre
Javier será el Coordinador del Festival de 2017 y me
gustaría presentarle el próximo mes al equipo de líderes
y coordinadores de los distintos comités y puestos de
comida. Invito a cualquier persona interesada en el
servicio, o en la renovación de su servicio como miembro
del equipo de liderazgo o como coordinador de un puesto
de comida o coordinador de un comité, dejarme saber a
finales de julio. Si usted tiene alguna idea de algo nuevo
que le gustaría implementar, estaría feliz de escuchar
sobre eso también.
Trabajar en el Festival es muy divertido y es una gran
manera de conocer a la familia parroquial. El trabajo que
realizamos hace una real diferencia. Sólo echa un vistazo a
nuestros medios de comunicación social o ¡pide a uno de
nuestros jóvenes feligreses que tuvieron la oportunidad de
ser parte de la Peregrinación Juvenil a Lourdes en junio!

Join our team of Holy Hour Captains
We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable with the computer and email to join our team of Holy
Hour Captains. We have a lot of organizing to do in order to manage the list of adorers and to update it as new
adorers join in. We want to improve communication in order to assist when someone is on vacation or away
and when someone would like to change the day or hour of their Holy Hour.
