Hello third grade! Thank you to those parents who attended the third

Hello third grade! Thank you to those parents who attended the third grade
program. We are continuing to work on being our best, both academically
and socially. This means that we have been practicing what it looks like to be
successful students and friends. Academically, here’s what our third
semester looks like:
Reading – We are working on Theme 4: Review Fact and Opinion for our
animal report writing, evaluate, compare and contrast(same and different),
summarize(telling in their own words important information they read),
making judgments(forming opinions), monitor and clarify(as students read
thinking about the details in the text).
Math – We are working on multiplication (Units 4 and 5) and Area and
Perimeter (Unit D), Triangles and Angles (Unit B), Three Dimensional Figures
(Unit F).
Writing – We will be working on Animal Reports and Non-Fiction Report
Writing.
Science: We’ve learned about the Water Cycle, Observing Weather, Earth
and It’s Place in the Solar System. We will start science unit about various
types of energy, how energy is used, and how energy is produced.
We will also be planning for a field trip for either the third or fourth
quarter.
A reminder the PARCC testing is coming up soon and it is important for
students to do their best.
We look forward to a wonderful third semester and a continued partnership
with all of our parents! Alone we are great, together we are better!

¡Hola 3er grado! Gracias a todos los padres de familia que asistieron a
la presentación de 3er grado. Continuamos nuestra lucha para mejorar
académicamente y socialmente. Esto quiere decir que hemos practicado como
ser mejores alumnos y amigos. El próximo semestre consistirá en:
Lectura- estamos trabajando en el tema 4: repasar datos y opinión de
nuestro reporte de animales, evaluar, comparar y contrastar, resumir y
formar opiniones, monitorear y clarificar (detalles en el texto).
Matemáticas- Estamos trabajando en multiplicación (unidades 4 y 5) y área y
perímetro (unidad D), ángulos y triángulos (unidad B), figuras
tridimensionales.
Escritura- Trabajaremos en nuestros reportes de animales y reportes de
ciencia ficción.
Ciencias naturales- Hemos aprendido sobre el ciclo de agua, observación del
tiempo, la tierra y nuestro lugar dentro del sistema solar. Comenzaremos una
unidad sobre varios tipos de energía, como se usa la energía, y como se
produce.
También planearemos sobre la excursión de tercer y cuarto grado.
Le recordamos que las pruebas estatales PARCC se aproximan y es
importante que su hijo ponga lo mejor de su parte.
Con la colaboración de los padres de familia, tendremos un gran tercer
semestre. Juntos tendremos mejores resultados.
