Praise be Jesus Christ...Now and forever! "Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish. (Lk 14:28-30)" Every pastor is also an administrator of a parish. He needs to make sure that the parish is stable spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and financially. These four principles are very important to me. All of them are interconnected. If one of them is out of balance, the parish is not doing well. So, I have been here for two months. I'm learning about this place and about myself. I observe, ask questions and assess. For example, we are done with our carnival. Now, it is time to evaluate it. The meeting to evaluate our carnival will be on Sept. 14. This is how I work. Some new things: 1. Beginning with September, we changed the office hours. The office is now open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It will be closed on Friday at 5:00 p.m. & will reopen on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On Sunday we are closed. 2. The staff will be using purchase orders so that we are more accountable for money spent. 3. Two people were added to the Finance Council: Gail McCusker and Louie Passarelli. I asked Mrs. McCusker to be the Chairperson. She worked in the area of finance for the Archdiocese for more than 20 years. 4. Mary Lee and Rosa Osuna joined our Parish Pastoral Council. 5. The collection for education, that occurs ever other month, will be proportionally divided between the educational ministries based on the numbers of students they serve. 6. Intentions of the donors will always be respected. For example, money donated for maintenance will be used only for maintenance. 7. Pam Kollman (Director of Share Faith) and I are working on making sure that all the age groups are being served spiritually and are educationally nourished. More on this to come. She is also our RCIA Director for this year. She will have an office in the Parish House and at School so that we can serve the people and communicate better. 8. On the First Sunday of each month, confessions will be offered 30 minutes before the Spanish Mass. We want to better serve our Spanish speaking community. 9. A summary of the approved minutes from the Councils and Boards (Parish, Finance, School and RE) will be published in the bulletin. We need to be transparent with the community. 10. I am pleased to let you know that our Candidate Deacon Raul Trejo is going to be ordained a Deacon this coming May. You will see him serving our community more and more. Let us keep Mr. Trejo in our prayers. 11. We ask that you keep Father Brian Simpson and Queen of the Rosary Parish in Elk Grove in your prayers as they begin together a new chapter in their ministerial work. St. Colette, Pray for us! Pax, Fr. Michal Pastor Parish House Closed The Parish House Office will be closed on Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day. Queremos servir mejor a nuestra comunidad hispana. 9. La misa diaria sera a las 9:00AM. 7 ATTENTION ALL LECTORS Collection for the Weekend of 8/28/2016 Colecta del Fin de semana de 8/28/2016 Total Collection: $9,989.91 (Colecta Total) Total Attendance: 954 (Asistencia Total) Thank you for your continued generosity May God bless you!
