Easter Sunday
What Do You Know?
“What do you know?” is the question linking all three readings today. Imagine the shock waves that shot
through the city of Jerusalem that first Easter morning. Jesus’ body was missing! By the time Peter spoke the words
found in today’s first reading, fifty days had passed, so he began by saying, in effect, “I take it you know what has been
reported all over Judea about Jesus of Nazareth.” Of course they knew by then, but in today’s Gospel we are taken
back to the first day. We meet Mary Magdalene exclaiming, “We don’t know where they put him!”
What do we know? In the second reading Paul asks, “Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the
dough?” Do we know the power of our own faith? Do we know the effect we can have on others?

Gospel — The risen Christ comes to his disciples with

Sexting
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each
week the Archdiocese of Miami’s Safe Environment Office will offer snipets from Virtus bulletins shared in the
last year. Virtus training is a child sex abuse awareness
and prevention program that begins with a live training
session and continues with monthly bulletins, which are
required of all clergy, employees and volunteers of the
Archdiocese of Miami.
Sexting is the sending or receiving of sexually-explicit
or sexually-suggestive images or video via cell-phone.
Instances of sexting depict a continuum of intentions,
which define the legal and policy issues of the act. These
include: exploring sexuality as part of the development
of teens, harassment of teens by other teens, exploitation
by teens in retaliation for perceived slights, manipulation
of teens by adults for sexual gratification. Well-defined
policies and procedures are essential when effectively
dealing with sexting.

La Actitud de Cristo Jesus
“¿Qué les parece?” es la pregunta que une a las tres lecturas de hoy. Imagínense el
choque que estremeció a Jerusalén esta primera mañana de Pascua. ¡El cuerpo de Jesús no estaba!
Cuando Pedro pronunció las palabras de la primera lectura de hoy, habían pasado cincuenta días
y por eso empezó diciendo: “Ustedes saben lo sucedido en toda Judea sobre Jesús de Nazaret . . .”
Por supuesto sabían lo ocurrido, pero en el Evangelio de hoy nos transportamos al primer día. Nos
encontramos con María Magdalena exclamando: “¡No sabemos dónde lo han puesto!”
¿Qué sabemos nosotros? En la segunda lectura Pablo pregunta: “¿No saben que basta un
poco de levadura para transformar toda la masa?” ¿Conocemos el poder de nuestra propia fe?
¿Sabemos el efecto que tenemos en los demás?
