take up the Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This collection communicates the
Gospel through Catholic social media activities and
enriches our faith through television, radio, social
media, podcasts, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our Archdiocese and support local

Celebration TODAY; Food Sale NEXT Week: The
Hispanic Ministry invites ALL to an Epiphany Celebration today in the Parish Hall at 1:30pm after the
Spanish Mass. The Hispanic Marian Group will be
selling food after ALL Masses NEXT weekend to
raise money for their retreats.
As we complete the Christmas Season with this feast, I would like to consolidate
the Christmas message into one word: relationship. Looking back at the Christmas Day Masses, the Feast of the Holy Family, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of
God, the Feast of the Epiphany, and today’s feast of the Baptism of the Lord,
each of these celebrations manifest the essence of the Christmas mystery—
relationship. The mystery of Christmas is God establishing an unbreakable
relationship with us through His Son, Jesus.
Jesus came to restore the relationship that was originally ours in the beginning
with God. Yet unlike human relationships, this relationship is both human and
divine since Jesus is both human and divine. He is the beloved Son who reunites
us with the Father. Through His baptism in the Jordan, Jesus manifests that
through Baptism a relationship with God is established. A relationship that makes
us beloved sons and daughters of God.
As Jesus knows every thing about us, we too need to get to know Him. The maturity of a relationship is measured in the knowledge and understanding of the
other, and the same applies to our relationship with Jesus. We need to be eager
and enthusiastic to know Jesus. We can never exhaust in learning more and more
about Jesus. I hope each of us takes time to read the Rediscovering Jesus by
Matthew Kelly. What a great start to the new year in increasing your knowledge
and understanding of He who loves us so much. ~In Christ, Fr. John

drive sponsored by the young adult group on January
29th from 9:30-3:30pm. Anyone who wants to sign up

each. This will be a great evening of fun for up to 60 guests. There will be Cruise

the Pacific University Hawaiian Club Dancers and Ken Lowther performing his
island getaway classic live. Come on down for a great time!
Traveling Crib: The Traveling Crib is here once again this year for the month of
January to collect baby items and maternity supplies for
Pregnancy Support Services at Catholic Charities. This
is a practical way we can support women facing difficult
situations, who have said “yes” to new life. In past years,
Pregnancy Support Services supported over 350 women and their babies with diapers, clothes, counseling,
parenting and relationship education classes, rent and
utility assistance. Items that are most needed include: new or gently used
newborn clothes, diapers (sizes Newborn and 3 & 4), pack-n-plays, and new
baby hygiene items. This year, your donations will stay in the local area to help
families in our community. A complete list of acceptable ítems is available in the
office.

RLT Memorial Rally: Oregon Right to
Life annual Roe v. Wade Memorial Rally is
on January 17th in Portland. Featured
speaker is Lila Rose, president of Live
Action. She is one of the first pro-lifers to
create investigative videos inside Planned Parenthood. Following the rally, they will march through Downtown Portland, with
the help of Portland PD. For the second time this year, they
are having a youth rally after the main event, with Lila Rose as

Día de Inmersión en San Andrés Bissette el sábado 30 de

que visiten lugares que sirven a la gente sin techo; y que reflexionen en lo que todo esto significa para ellos. Los formularios
de permiso son disponibles en línea o en la oficina. Esta actividad se limita a las primeras 12 personas que se inscriben.

El Bautismo del Señor
.
“...Y del cielo llegó una voz que decía: ‘Tú eres mi Hijo,
el predilecto; en ti me complazco.’ “
Al concluir la Temporada de la Navidad con esta fiesta,
me gustaría consolidar el mensaje de la Navidad en una
sola palabra: la relación. Mirando para atrás a las Misas
de la Navidad, la Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia, la Solemnidad de María la
Madre de Dios, la Fiesta de la Epifanía, y la fiesta de hoy del Bautismo del
Señor, cada una de estas celebraciones manifiesta la esencia del misterio de
la Navidad—relación. El misterio de la Navidad es Dios, que establece una
relación o un lazo irrompible con nosotros a través de Su Hijo, Jesús.
Jesús vino para restaurar la relación que era originalmente la nuestra al
comienzo con Dios. Pero, al contrario de relaciones humanas, esta relación
es asimismo humana y divina, puesto que Jesús es humano y divino. Él es el
Hijo Predilecto que nos reúne con el Padre. Por Su bautismo en el río Jordán,
Jesús manifiesta que por el Bautismo una relación personal—un
parentesco—se establece con Dios. Un parentesco que nos hace hijos e
hijas amados de Dios.
Puesto que Jesús sabe todo acerca de nosotros, nosotros también necesitamos conocerle a Él. La madurez de una relación se mide en el conocimiento y en la comprensión del otro, y lo mismo se aplica a nuestra relación
con Dios. Necesitamos tener entusiasmo y un afán para conocerle a Jesús.
Nunca podemos acabar de aprender más y más acerca de Él. Espero que
cada uno de nosotros tomemos el tiempo de leer Redescubriendo a Jesús
por Matthew Kelly. ¡Qué comienzo más grande este el Año Nuevo para
aumentar su conocimiento y entendimiento de Él que nos ama tanto!

2ª Colecta el PRÓXIMO fin de semana: La
próxima semana, nuestra parroquia realizará
la Colecta para Campaña Católica de la
Comunicación. Esta colecta comunica el
Evangelio a través de actividades en la televisión, la radio, los medios sociales, los
podcasts, y la prensa escrita. La mitad de lo
recaudado permanece en nuestra Arquidiócesis y financia las necesidades locales, así
que, por favor, contribuyan generosamente.
Vean el volante que se adjunta para más información y un
sobre designado.
La Cuna Viajera: La Cuna Viajera es un
servicio del Programa de Apoyo al
Embarazo y Servicios de Adopción de las
Caridades Católicas, mediante el cual las
parroquias tienen la oportunidad de donar
artículos para bebés y para las futuras
mamás (artículos de maternidad). Esta cuna está aquí en la
Parroquia de San Antonio de nuevo todo este mes de enero.
Los artículos que más hacen falta son ropa para bebés recién
nacidos, pañales (recién nacido y tallas 3 y 4), y artículos nuevos de higiene para los bebés (biberones, etc.). Este año, sus
donaciones van a ser repartidos aquí en la comunidad local de
Forest Grove. Tenemos un listado con más detalles de artículos que se aceptan en la oficina.
