Relocation of Underground Utilities:
Day & Night Work
ATTENTION RESIDENTS AND BUSINESS OWNERS
In preparation for construction of Phase 2 of the Expo Light Rail Line, work crews will be relocating an existing sanitary
sewer line currently located under Colorado Avenue in the City of Santa Monica. The work is being managed and
performed by the Expo Phase 2 design-build contractor Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV), and its subcontractors.
What:
Relocation of Sanitary Sewer
When:
Monday, June 11, 2012 through Tuesday, July 31, 2012
Work Hours:
8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (Colorado Avenue at various points between
5th and 7th Streets)
9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday (Colorado Avenue at intersections of 5th
and 7th Streets)
Where:
Construction activities will be in the travel lanes on Colorado Avenue at various points between
5th and 7th Streets with night work occurring specifically at the intersections of 5th and 7th Streets
Work Description:
Sanitary sewer relocation activities will include the relocation of a sanitary sewer and replacement of four (4)
manholes on Colorado Avenue at various points between 5th Street and 7th Street. Upon completion of the
excavation and installation of the new manholes and pipes, the street will be restored.
Traffic Impacts:
 Eastbound and westbound traffic lanes will be maintained during peak hours. However, left turns will be
restricted throughout the construction area.
 The 5th Street and 7th Street intersections will be closed intermittently during night hours and electronic
message boards will be used to detour traffic as needed.
 Parking restrictions will be implemented only when necessary on Colorado Avenue between 4th Street and
7th Street during the work activities.
 Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times and signage with specific restrictions will be in place in all
construction areas.
 Electronic message boards, directional signage and/or flagmen will be used to safely direct vehicles and
pedestrians around the construction zone.
Advisories:
 To lessen traffic impacts, 5th and 7th Street intersection work will be performed at night. Electronic message
boards will be provided to advise the public when nighttime work is scheduled.
 Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout all construction activities.
 Noise levels will be monitored to ensure work performed is within the necessary compliance levels.
 Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.

En preparación para la construcción de la Fase 2 de la Línea de Tren Ligero Expo, las cuadrillas de obreros reubicarán una
línea de alcantarillado sanitario existente que actualmente se encuentra debajo de Colorado Avenue en la ciudad de
Santa Mónica. El contratista para Expo Fase 2 Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV) mantendrá y realizará esta obra junto
con sus subcontratistas.

Descripción del Trabajo:
Las actividades de reubicación de alcantarillado sanitario incluirán la reubicación de un alcantarillado sanitario y el
reemplazo de cuatro (4) alcantarillas en Colorado Avenue en varios puntos entre 5th Street y 7th Street. Una vez
completada la excavación y la instalación de las nuevas tuberías y alcantarillas, la calle será restaurada.
Impactos de Tráfico:
 Los carriles de tráfico hacia el este y oeste se mantendrán durante las horas pico, Sin embargo, los giros hacia
la izquierda serán restringidos en toda la zona de construcción.
 Las intersecciones de 5th Street y 7th Street estarán cerradas en forma intermitente durante la noche y se
usarán tableros electrónicos de mensajes para desviar el tráfico según sea necesario.
 Restricciones de estacionamiento se llevarán a cabo sólo cuando sea necesario en Colorado Avenue, entre 4th
Street y 7th Street durante las actividades de trabajo.
 Las restricciones de estacionamiento se aplicarán estrictamente en todo momento y la señalización con
restricciones específicas estará disponible en todas las áreas de construcción.
 Se utilizarán tableros electrónicos de mensajes, señalización direccional y/o directores de tráfico para dirigir a
los vehículos y peatones con seguridad en la zona de construcción.
Avisos:
 Para disminuir los impactos del tráfico , el trabajo en las intersecciones de 5th y 7th Street se llevará a cabo
durante la noche.
 Se mantendrá el acceso a todos los comercios y residencias durante todas las actividades de construcción.
 Se controlarán los niveles del ruido para asegurar que el trabajo realizado se mantenga dentro de los niveles de
conformidad necesarios.
 Por favor no entre a la zona de construcción y obedezca todos los carteles fijados.
