Night Work:
Intersection Closure for Underground Utility Relocation
ATTENTION RESIDENTS AND BUSINESS OWNERS
In preparation for construction of Phase 2 of the Expo Light Rail Line, work crews will be performing night work to
complete sanitary sewer relocation work. Work will take place at the intersections of Colorado Avenue at 14th Court
and 17th Street in the City of Santa Monica. The work is being managed and performed by the Expo Phase 2 design-build
contractor Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV), and its subcontractors.
What:
Intersection closure for nighttime Sanitary Sewer Relocation work
When:
Sunday, May 13, 2012 through Thursday, June 7, 2012
Work Hours:
9:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday
Where:
Work will take place on Colorado Avenue at the intersections of 14th Court and 17th Street
Work Description:
Sanitary sewer relocation activities will include excavation on Colorado Avenue at the intersections of 14th Court and
17th Street to install new manholes and pipes. Upon completion of the excavation and installation of the new
manholes and pipes, the street and sidewalk will be restored.
Traffic Impacts:
 17th Street will be closed to through traffic. Northbound traffic on 17th Street will be detoured at
Olympic Boulevard; southbound traffic on 17th Street will be detoured at Broadway Street; westbound traffic on
Colorado Avenue will be detoured at 20th street; and eastbound traffic on Colorado Avenue will be detoured at
14th Street.
 Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times and signage with specific restrictions will be in place in all
construction areas. Parking will be prohibited intermittently for the duration of the work activity on the south side
of Colorado Avenue from 14th Street to 17th Street.
 Electronic message boards, directional signage and/or flagmen will be used to safely direct vehicles and
pedestrians around the construction zone.
Advisories:
 Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout all construction activities.
 Noise levels will be monitored to ensure work performed is within the necessary compliance levels.
 Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.

En preparación para la construcción de la Fase 2 de la Línea de Tren Expo Light, las cuadrillas de obreros trabajaran
durante la noche para completar la reubicación de alcantarillado sanitario. El trabajo se realizará en las
intersecciones de Colorado Avenue en 14th Court y 17th Street en la Ciudad de Santa Mónica. El contratista para
Expo Fase 2 de Expo Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV) mantendrá y realizará esta obra junto con sus subcontratistas.

Descripción del trabajo:
Las actividades nocturnas de reubicación de alcantarillado sanitario incluirán excavación en las intersecciones de
14th Court y 17th Street en Colorado Avenue para instalar tuberías y nuevas alcantarillas. Una vez completada la
excavación y la instalación de las nuevas tuberías y alcantarilladas, la calle y la acera serán restauradas.
Impactos de Tráfico:
 17th Street se cerrará al tráfico de paso. El tráfico en dirección norte en 17th Street será desviado en Olympic
Boulevard; el tráfico hacia el sur en 17th Street será desviado en Broadway Street; el tráfico hacia el oeste en
Colorado Avenue será desviado en 20th street; y el tráfico hacia el este en Colorado Avenue será desviado en
la 14th street.
 Las restricciones de estacionamiento se aplicarán estrictamente en todo momento y la señalización con
restricciones específicas estará disponible en todas las áreas de construcción. El estacionamiento será
prohibido en el lado sur de Colorado Avenue entre 17th Court y 14th Court durante la actividad de trabajo.
 Se utilizarán tableros electrónicos de mensajes, señalización direccional y/o directores de tráfico para dirigir a
los vehículos y peatones con seguridad en la zona de construcción.
Avisos:
 El acceso local a los negocios y residencias se mantendrá durante todas las actividades de construcción.
 Se controlarán los niveles de ruido para asegurar que el trabajo se realice dentro de los niveles de cumplimiento
necesarios.
 Por favor no entre a la zona de construcción y obedezca todos los carteles fijados.
