JOURNEY OF FAITH
We are on a long and eventful journey. Today's readings
for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth
of our human travels.
The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the
reading from Proverbs. God's plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today's Gospel, Jesus
speaks of his own personal journey. He has come from the Father and
will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate--the Spirit of Truth
--take us onward.
This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very
setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul
writes to the Romans, "[W]e even boast of our afflictions, knowing that
affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and
proven character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4).
Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity--a
family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to
emulate.

Estamos en un viaje largo y lleno de acontecimientos.
Las lecturas de hoy para el Domingo de la Santísima
Trinidad cubren sucintamente la profundidad y la amplitud
de nuestros viajes humanos.
Los comienzos de nuestro viaje se revelan en la lectura
de Proverbios. El plan de Dios lleno de sabiduría divina nació antes de
que la tierra existiera. En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús habla de su propio
viaje personal. Él ha venido del Padre y volverá al Padre. Sólo en ese

Evangelio es la noche antes de la muerte de Jesús. Como san Pablo
les escribe a los romanos, "Nos gloriamos hasta de los sufrimientos,
pues sabemos que el sufrimiento engendra la paciencia, la paciencia
engendra la virtud sólida, la virtud sólida engendra la esperanza”

Around the turn of the fourth century, Augustine, still fairly fresh from
the baptismal waters in Milan, was elected bishop of a tiny city in North
Africa, Hippo. He told his people, "While I am frightened by what I am for
you, then I am consoled by what I am with you. For you I am a bishop,
with you I am a Christian." He had his priorities right, and also knew that
everyone coming from the water arises with a ministry, a specific role, in
bringing about God's kingdom.
If we were asked to purge English of Greek vocabulary, we would gain
an insight into key ministries in our church. Bishop, from the Greek
episkopos, would become simply "overseer;" priest, from the Greek
presybter, would become "elder;" and deacon, from the Greek diakonos,
would be "servant." Each title stands in relationship to all the baptized,
serving the community, helping it to be the Body of Christ. In our deepest
tradition, each of these ordained ministries is attuned to help us become
our best selves, to hunger and thirst for the coming of God's kingdom.
The goal for each one of us is to be able to recognize the presence of
Christ in worship and in service. Although only some of us are ordained

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
Este domingo la Iglesia celebra la Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad:
Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo. Este dogma acerca de la realidad de Dios
es la clave para comprender la verdad de la religión cristiana. Mediante
el poder del Espíritu Santo el Padre envió al Hijo como Salvador del
mundo. Estas tres personas son un solo Dios.
No es una doctrina fácil de comprender y mucho menos de pintar en
arte sagrado. Sin embargo muchos artistas latinoamericanos han
intentado pintar simbólicamente la verdad de la Santísima Trinidad.
En muchos casos imaginan al Padre cargando a Jesús en la cruz y
soplando sobre él el Espíritu en forma de paloma. A veces Padre e Hijo
están entronados sobre las nubes soplando el Espíritu mutuamente y
las alas de la paloma tocan los labios de ambos. En algunos casos el
Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo son tres cabezas que salen de un solo
cuerpo. Seguido los tres tienen el mismo rostro distinguiéndose solo por
el color de sus vestiduras o los símbolos que cargan.

La Santísima Trinidad
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
Saint Paul, in a way, speaks the “right relationship” with God.
Though this idea may seem difficult to accept because of the “affliction”
he refers to that we may undergo. But, he does state that if we live in
peace and confidence in Christ, we will share in the life of the Risen
Lord. At the point when we realize that “Jesus died when we were at
our worst,” we can understand that whatever affliction we may have to
suffer that our faith in Christ can overcome all because of the hope he
has provided each one of us by his love for us.
Further, in the Gospel of John, Jesus reassures the Apostles though
he may be gone from the earthly presence, the Father will send the
Holy Spirit to continue guiding them as Jesus had when he was with
them. Jesus had to leave this world to be glorified for our sake. We
have the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, “the Most Holy Trinity” always
available to us in our love and faith in Christ. We must believe this is
true, otherwise Jesus died in vain. Let us hold firm to the belief that
Jesus through his glory before the Father continues to respond to our
needs, our pleas and our very salvation through the grace of the
present spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit of our Savior.
As all of you are aware, I have just received a letter from Bishop
Soto appointing me pastor of Holy Family Parish in Citrus Heights,
effective July 1, 2016. It is with this certainty of the Holy Spirit that I
undertake my new assignment. Change is inevitable, sometimes
unwanted and not always desired; yet this is our nature, that we
transition on our path to the Father. My heart and gratitude are with
the faithful of St. Lawrence, all of you, who have supported me over the
years of my assignment. We may have not always agreed on certain
matters, but the respect you afforded me made it possible for us to
work for and seek the common good of the parish and in building
our faith in Christ. Thank you to all who aided me on this part of
my journey in the priesthood, and May the Grace of the Holy Spirit
be with each and every one of us as we transition together into a
new chapter of our spiritual lives. I will be on vacation visiting my
mother for the next few weeks. Please pray for me as I will pray for
you. God bless you.

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity - May 22, 2016
The word mercy, Pope Francis declared in his announcement of the
Jubilee Year of Mercy, "reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy
Trinity" (Misericordiae Vultus, 2). For mercy is how God comes to meet
us; mercy is the fundamental law helping us recognize everyone as
brothers and sisters; mercy is the bridge connecting God and humanity,
opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our
sinfulness. God's self-revelation as a life-giving, love-sharing Trinity of
Persons draws us closer to God in friendship and communion. Both
Judaism and Islam consider mercy one of God's most important
attributes. Israel unceasingly proclaims God boundless in mercy. Islam
addresses the Creator as "Merciful and Kind," believing divine mercy
limitless, its doors always open. May this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope
Francis prays, open us to more fervent dialogue, deepen our mutual
understanding, eliminate all closed-minded disrespect, and drive out

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
San Pablo, de una manera, nos habla acerca de la relación
perfecta con Dios. Aunque algunas veces resulte difícil de aceptar por
toda la aflicción que tenemos que pasar. Sin embargo, el nos dice que
si vivimos con paz y confianza en cristo, compartiremos en la vida de
Nuestro Señor Resucitado. Es en este punto cuando nos damos
cuenta de que Jesús murió por nosotros cuando estábamos tocando
fondo, podemos entender que cualquier aflicción que tengamos que
sufrir, nuestra fe en Cristo nos ayudara a salir victoriosos por la
esperanza y el amor que nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros.
En el Evangelio de San Juan, Jesús asegura a los apóstoles que
aunque el se tiene que ir de la tierra, el Padre mandara el Espíritu
Santo que continuara guiándolos como Jesús lo hizo cuando estaba
con ellos. Jesús tuvo que dejar este mundo para ser glorificado por
nuestro bien. Tenemos el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo, “la
Santísima Trinidad” siempre dispuesta en nuestro amor y fe en Cristo.
Debemos creer que Jesús a través de su gloria ante el Padre continua
respondiendo a nuestras necesidades, a nuestras peticiones y nuestra
salvación a través de la gracia presente del Espíritu de Cristo, el
Espíritu Santo de nuestro Salvador.
Como ustedes saben, acabo de recibir una carta del Obispo Soto
donde me nombra pastor de la parroquia de la Sagrada Familia en
Citrus Heights, empezando el 1 de Julio de 2016. Con la certeza del
Espíritu Santo es que tomo este nuevo trabajo. Los cambios son
inevitables, algunas veces no los queremos, ni los deseamos, sin
embargo son necesarios para caminar hacia el Padre. Mi corazón y
gratitud se queda con todos los feligreses de San Lorenzo, todos
ustedes, quienes me han ayudado en los años que he estado aquí.
Aunque no siempre estemos de acuerdo en algunas cosas, pero su
respeto ha hecho posible que podamos trabajar y buscar el bien
común de la parroquia y construir nuestra fe en Cristo. Gracias a
todos los que me han apoyado en esta parte de mi camino en mi
sacerdocio, y que la gracia del Espíritu Santo esté con y cada uno
de nosotros durante esta transición hacia un nuevo capítulo de
nuestra vida espiritual. Estoy tomando mis vacaciones para visitar a
mi madre las próximas semanas. Por favor recen por mí al igual que

Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad – 22 de Mayo de 2016
En la Bula papal Misericordiae Vultus, 2, el Papa Francisco dice que la
misericordia "es la palabra que revela el misterio de la Santísima Trinidad". Pues la misericordia es cómo Dios viene a nuestro encuentro;
misericordia es la ley fundamental que nos ayuda a reconocernos
como hermanos y hermanas; misericordia es el puente que conecta a
Dios con la humanidad, abriendo nuestros corazones a la esperanza
de ser amados por siempre pese a nuestras ofensas. La revelación de
Dios hacia nosotros es un don de vida, un amor compartido de la Trinidad de personas que nos acercan más a Dios en amistad y comunión.
Tanto el judaísmo como el islamismo consideran a la misericordia uno
de los atributos más importantes de Dios. Israel incasablemente
proclama la misericordia inmensa. El islamismo se refiere hacia Dios

Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 10:00 am.
Auxiliary Bishop Cotta will celebrate Holy
Mass in the Chapel. There will be a Color
Guard Presentation by ROTC.

SHREDDING DRIVE Do you have e-waste
you want to get rid of? Like old monitors,
televisions, computers, small appliances,
etc.? Do you have confidential documents
you want to throw away but are concerned
about identity theft? Then bring it all to
Presentation Parish School (3100 Norris
Ave., Sacramento) for disposal on June 4
between 10 am – 2 pm. It’s totally free, but
donations will gladly be accepted to help
support the World Youth Day pilgrims. For
