October 2, 2016 Twenty-Seventh Sunday In Ordinary Time St. Michael Church Newark, New York Invitación para Ser Misioneros Activos Catholic Ministries Appeal - Raised In Christ Last week, Fr. Jeff spoke at Mass about this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA). This appeal makes up 60% of the entire diocesan budget. Thus it is vital to the ministry of our diocese. The CMA is often thought of in terms of numbers and dollars but please remember to see this not as an obligation to give but an opportunity to contribute. Through your contribution you help those who benefit from the ministry know they too are Raised in Christ. If you missed Fr. Jeff’s words last week about the CMA you can read about it on the parish website at http:// stmichaelsnewark.org/financial-giving/cma-appeal/. Be sure and watch the diocesan CMA video at http://www.dor.org/index.cfm/ stewardship/annual-appeal and see if you can find the two scenes from our parish. If you have any questions about the Catholic Ministries Appeal please feel free to ask Fr. Jeff. Diocesan Respect Life Sunday Mass Project Rachel-Fr. James Hewes Bishop Matano is celebrating this year’s Respect Life Sunday Mass in honor of 20 years of the powerful and gracefilled Project Rachel ministry in the Diocese of Rochester. He will bless and commission all who are involved in this ministry. Afterward, there will be a reception in appreciation of Fr. James Hewes, whose vision and 18 years of Project Rachel leadership and loving care over this ministry have been instrumental. The Mass will be celebrated TODAY, Sunday, October 2, at 2 PM in Sacred Heart Cathedral, 29 Flower City Park, Rochester. It is fitting to have this celebration during this special Year of Mercy. All are welcome, and encouraged to attend! If you cannot attend, please continue to keep this important ministry of our Church in your prayers, especially remembering all those women (and men) that still long for the Lord’s forgiveness and healing. For more information, contact Suzanne Stack, diocesan life-issues coordinator, at 585-328-3210, ext. 1304, or email her at [email protected]. To learn more about Project Rachel, please go to hopeafterabortion.org. The local Public Square Rosary Rally will take place at Newark’s Central Park Gazebo Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 12:00 pm. Christmas Bazaar Saturday, December 3rd, 9 am to 2 pm in the Church hall Help is needed. . . calling on anyone who would like to sew, knit or crochet for the Christmas Bazaar.
