The Illimani, meaning "Golden Eagle" in Aymara, is Bolivia's mystique mountain and the landmark of La Paz. It is composed of 7 summits
distributed on a 7 km/4.35mi long ridge and the ascend is rather difficult because it is long and in very high altitude. The Pico Sur is the most
climbed peak because it is the easiest but it still needs a lot of attention and concentration. We recommend this summit to experienced climbers.

1. La Paz – Pinaya (3900m/12.795ft) - Puente Roto (4550m/14.928ft)
We leave early for Pinaya a small village at the foot of the Illimani. Here we meet our team of mule drivers and their animals who will accompany us during
the 3 days. Once everything is charged on the animals we start our trek to the Illimani base camp by the small village Puente Roto.

2. Puente Roto – High Camp (5450m/17.880ft)
Our climb starts with a rather slow ascend to High Camp. It will take approximately 5hrs with a few rough passages, and we’ll reach the "nido del condor» in
the early afternoon.

We start our attempt to reach the summit early around 07h00. Once we have reached the summit the descend takes approximately anther 4 hours to base
camp at Puente Roto.


