The City of Richmond’s official Arbor Day is the third Wednesday in October, and street planting generally occurs
between October and March.
The City of Richmond is committed to selecting the right tree for the right location. Not all sites are suitable for
street trees. Adopt-a-Tree applications are evaluated by city staff. All trees on the list are subject to availability.
The Adopt-a-Tree program has limited funding and operates off a waiting list.
* The resident, by initiating this tree adoption, is committing to provide necessary water to this tree 2–3 times per
week in the summer months and weekly during the spring and fall as needed as well as to work with the City to
ensure that the tree stakes and ties are functioning correctly.

El día oficial del árbol de la Ciudad de Richmond es el tercer miércoles de octubre, y generalmente se plantan árboles
en las calle entre octubre y marzo.
La Ciudad de Richmond está comprometida a escoger el árbol correcto de acuerdo al lugar donde se plantará. No
todos los lugares son apropiados para los árboles de la calle. Las aplicaciones para adoptar un árbol serán
evaluadas por personal de la ciudad. Todos los árboles en la lista están sujetos a disponibilidad. El programa para
adoptar un árbol tiene fondos limitados y opera en base a una lista de espera.
*Al iniciar la adopción de un árbol, el residente se está comprometiendo a proveer el agua necesaria para este
árbol de 2 a 3 veces por semana en los meses de verano y semanalmente durante la primavera y en otoño cuando
sea necesario, así como a trabajar con la ciudad para asegurar que las estacas y amarres del árbol funcionan
correctamente.
