From the Pastor’s Desk….
The Feast of All Saints (November 1st)
Today, our Church honors all saints, both named and unnamed, who are gathered
together in heaven, united in their praise of God. This is our call too.The first reading speaks about the 144,000 who survived the great trial of persecution and remained faithful to God. They are models of faith for each one of us. In the Gospel
passage Jesus teaches us through the beatitudes that holiness can be found
through every circumstance of our human life.
Papal Honor for Ms. Cruz Teresa Rosero (SNT Parishioner)
It is our great joy to let you know that Holy Father Pope Francis has conferred Papal Honors upon one of our parishioners, Ms. Cruz Teresa Rosero. Because of her
long time service to the people of God in the Diocese of Brooklyn, she has been
chosen to receive the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross. The ceremony for reception of
this Papal Honor will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Co-Cathedral
of St. Joseph.
Please join me in congratulating Ms. Cruz Teresa Rosero for this great achievement. Teresa! You have made St. Nick’s proud. Thanks for you service at SNT.
Silver Jubilee of my Priestly Ordination
This weekend I am celebrating my 25th Anniversary to the priesthood. We are four
priests from the same Diocese (Faisalabad), ordained on October 5, 1990 in Pakistan by the late Bishop John Joseph. My other three priest brothers are: Fr. Anthony S. Chanan, Fr. John Murad and Fr. Nisar Barkat. May God continue to bless
them in their priestly ministry. I also celebrate and join with my brother priests who
were ordained here in Brooklyn.
I am grateful to God for the gift of Priesthood. He called me and encouraged me to
say “yes” to this vocation. I am trying to continue to keep my gaze fixed on Jesus
and learn from the Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother to trust in God’s divine providence in all situations. One of my favorite verses from the Bible is, “I am the vine
and you are the branches, whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit
(Jn 15:5). These powerful words of Jesus challenge me to stay connected and
be fruitful in my priestly ministry. Please pray for me that I remain so.
I am thankful to my family members, friends, priests, and teachers who helped me
along the way. Despite my imperfections and limitations, I have been given the
great joy of this ministry. Today, I want to thank all who have come together
this weekend to celebrate with me. You have been a blessing in my life. I
thank you for what you have done to support me in my priestly vocation.
God bless you,
Fr. John Francis
