September 25, 2016 25 de Septiembre de 2016 La Iglesia de Sto. Toribio Una Parroquia Católica de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago Kościół Św. Turibiusza Rzymsko Katolicka Parafia Archidiecezji w Chicago 26 Niedziela Zwykła Vigésimo Sexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time 25 Września 2016 St. Turibius Church A Roman Catholic Parish of the Archdiocese of Chicago Praise the Lord, my soul, my soul! Praise the Lord, my soul! Alaba, alma mía, al Señor. al Señor. Chwal, duszo moja, Pana, Stwórcę, swego. The Seminarian Collection September 2016 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Last year, in speaking to a conference in Rome, Pope Francis reminded the participants that “the vocation to the priesthood is a gift that God gives to some for the good of all.” [email protected] (773) 581-2730 ext. 29 [email protected] (773) 581-2730 ext. 15 We currently have sixty-seven seminarians preparing for a life of service as your future pastors. Their motivation and enthusiasm for serving in the Church through a life-long commitment is inspiring to us all, promoting us to offer in return our prayers, fraternal encouragement and financial support. Many of you have personally told me how much you enjoy meeting our seminarians whenever they visit parishes and I know you come away from those experiences with a renewed sense of hope for the future. We in turn as a community need to stand with them during their years of preparation and for this reason I invite you to join with me in making this year’s seminarian collection a great success. Contributions made to this collection alleviate monthly expenses such as tuition and fees ($1,850), room and board ($950), formation programs ($250), and health insurance ($190) for each seminarian and will be used solely for the formation of new priests for the Archdiocese of Chicago. You may make a one-time donation no less than your weekly contribution to your parish, or establish a monthly contribution to the collection. Your gift, whatever the amount, will have a great impact on our seminarians, as they see first-hand your willingness to stand in solidarity with them. During the Renew My Church consultation, one of the top priorities identified was the need to promote vocations to the priesthood. We are doing everything possible in this regard, but I do need your support through prayer and donations to the seminarian collection. [email protected] (773) 581-2730 ext. 14 Parish Information Masses 4pm Saturday 6:45 am and 11 am Sunday Confessions 5-6pm Saturday Telephone: (773) 581-2730 Thank you for your commitment to our seminarians. You can rely on me joining you in prayer for them as well as my remembrance of your needs as I thank God for your many gifts. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich Archbishop of Chicago We share Christ’s light and our faith is deepened as we celebrate the diversity of our Parish. The Seminarian Collection Wrzesień 2016 r. Szczerze oddany Wam w Chrystusie, Biskup Błażej J. St. Vincent de Paul “Food of the Month Club” It’s only October, but we’re already planning for and looking forward to our Thanksgiving Distribution of Food to our families. In preparation for this big day, we are asking for your help with donations of boxes of Macaroni and Cheese and any type of Instant Potatoes, preferably Mashed or Au Gratin. We cannot accept fresh produce or frozen foods, as we do not have the proper storage for those types of items. Your donations can be placed in the box located in the vestibule of the church when you come to Mass, or they can be taken to the Rectory during normal business hours. Now is your chance to help another family celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy a delicious family meal. Please contribute whatever you can in the way of boxes of Macaroni and Cheese and any type of Instant Potatoes, preferably Mashed or Au Gratin. Thank you in advance for your generosity -- you may think it’s a small gesture on your part, but know that it means a lot to a needy family. Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace, forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with us, know we are Christians by our love!
