Paintings by Victor Moreno:
The Vielflieger Verlag offers works by the Cuban painter Victor Moreno (17 June 1951 in
Placetas Villa Clara, Cuba – 14 November 2015, Havana, Cuba). Victor Moreno was a
student of Raimundo Garcia Parra and the master René Portocarrero. At Christmas 1985,
Cuba presented Mexico with a number of works by Victor Moreno. One of Moreno’s works is
on permanent exhibition in a museum in Caracas, Venezuela; and the Los Angeles County
Museum of Art (LACMA) has already acquired several of Victor Moreno’s pictures.
About his work:
René Portocarrero says the following about Moreno’s work:
"It has the sadness of a Van Gogh, but a `luminous sadness.´ His cities have a quality much
like vegetation. He is masterful in the use of dramatic colors. In his studies he has achieved a
great psychological and sculptural depth."
Raul Milian says about Moreno's work:
"His works with ink are very good and several are extraordinary."
Zozila Menéndez on the occasion of a solo exhibition of Victor Moreno:
"In a series of pictures inspired by the Afro-Cuban symbolic language the introspection and
the highly concentrated observation of the 'multi-universe' of the artistevades nothing. He
depicts the netherworld and the macrocosm as if they were reachable and as if one could
establish a relationship with them. Welcome to the typical Cuban festival of colour and love.
Let us participate in the inner world of the master who in all humility offers us a gift of
spirituality and life. That's how it is."
