Calling on St. Andrew Parishioners! We need your help
to send 13 of our youth from our St. Andrew Life Teen
program to the City of Saint’s Teen Conference this
August!
The $2,400 will cover admittance, food and housing for
the weekend for our entire group. The conference will be
held on the UCLA campus in Downtown Los Angeles.
Please support our youth and this wonderful opportunity
to learn more about their Catholic faith!

We are excited to host Theology on Tap for a third time at St. Andrew Parish!
Theology on Tap is a summer speaker series sponsored by the Archdiocese
Office of Religious Education that brings young adults together to learn
more about their Catholic faith in a casual environment. Last year was a huge
success with over 100 people attending each session. The next session of
TOT will be Tuesday, July 26th at the St. Andrew School Auditorium. Doors
open at 7:00 p.m. and program will begin at7:30 p.m.
Free food and drinks will be provided (donations accepted).
We are now accepting inquiries for the
2016-2017 school year. St. Andrew
Catholic School is excited to offer the
perfect place for 3 and 4 year olds to
grow, play, laugh and learn. Our Pre-K
program will encompass a variety of

What is City of Saints Teen Conference?
City of Saints Teen Conference is a Catholic teen conference hosted by
Archbishop Jose Gomez and the Youth Ministry Division in the Archdiocese
of Los Angeles. This event is a wonderful and local opportunity for young
people to deepen their relationship with Jesus. The conference will feature
dynamic speakers, liturgical experiences, music, and more, set in an
atmosphere where teens can learn about and experience the Eucharist and
the beauty of the Catholic faith with its rich symbols and traditions.
Why “City of Saints”?
The theme “City of Saints” reminds us that we live in a city named after
saints, not only Los Angeles, (named for Our Lady, of course) but also Santa
Monica, San Pedro, San Fernando, Santa Barbara, etc. We remember that
all teens are called to be saints in our cities. This conference will help these
young people express this sainthood in their everyday lives.
Goal:
• Deepen their relationship with Jesus
• Learn more about their Catholic faith
• Discover what it means to be Saints in their own cities
• Become closer as a parish group and meet other teen Catholics
from around the Archdiocese of Los Angeles

Dear Parishioners,
Fall is just around the corner, which means Confirmation classes and Life Night’s are
back! This September will mark our second year as a Life Teen parish and my third
year as Director of Confirmation. Since coming on board, our Confirmation program
has evolved immensely. The choice to shift from a classroom style curriculum to a
more dynamic and engaging program was a dream I had after my first year in this
role. I wanted to implement a program that would meet our teens where they are
and establish a home for them in the Church. I am proud to say that since our launch
of Life Teen last Fall, we have had more teens involved and excited about their faith
than we have seen in recent years. We have started a Life Teen Mass that incorporates
contemporary Christian Music and homilies that engage our youth. We have teen
leaders come back after Confirmation to help the current Confirmation students and
mentor them on their journey toward the Sacrament. We have attended Youth Day
two consecutive years in a row and have been one of the largest groups in attendance
both times. Our youth group got the chance to attend the Life Teen event, Inspiration
at Six Flags, where our teens along with thousands of other young Catholics enjoyed
a day of fun and praise and worship in the midst of a theme park. Our teens have
volunteered their time for almost every large event we host here at our Parish; from
parking coordinators to ushering, our teens really have done it all! It has been a
blessing to see what our Confirmation program has become and my goal is to continue
to grow every year and create as many opportunities for our teens to journey with
Christ. Thanks to the ongoing support of our Pastor, Fr. Paul, I am excited to be able
to take 13 girls to the City of Saints Conference for the first time this August. I want to
extend a very special thank you to all the parishioners that generously donated in the
second collection this Sunday to make our trip possible. I am looking forward to the

Congratulations to Mr. Salvador Lambaren,
our July $250 raffle winner with ticket
#148. Raffle tickets are available and sold
from all active RE catechists and can also be
purchased at our gift shop after each Sunday
Mass and at the Pastoral Center during the
week. A prize of $250 will be drawn every third Sunday of the month until
December 2016. Winner need not be present. Thank you for your continuous

Ahora estamos aceptando alumnos para el año
escolar 2016-2017. La escuela Católica de San
Andres se complace en ofrecer el lugar perfecto
para los niños de 3 y 4 años de edad para crecer,
jugar, reír y aprender. Nuestro programa de PreKinder abarcará una variedad de experiencias
de preparación para fomentar y promover el
desarrollo social, emocional, espiritual, físico e
intelectual de los niños pequeños.

Estimados Feligreses,
Otoño está a la vuelta de la esquina, al igual que las clases
de Confirmación y Life Night’s están de nuevo! Este mes
de septiembre marcará nuestro segundo año como una
parroquia Life Teen y mi tercer año como Directora de
Confirmación. Desde que me involucre, nuestro programa
de Confirmación ha evolucionado considerablemente. La
opción de pasar de un plan de estudios de estilo clase a un
programa más dinámico y atractivo era un sueño que tuve
después de mi primer año en este cargo. Quería poner en
práctica un programa que nuestros adolescentes pudieran
responder y establecer un hogar para ellos en la Iglesia.
Estoy orgullosa de decir que desde nuestro lanzamiento de
Life Teen el otoño pasado, hemos tenido más adolescentes
involucrados y entusiasmados con su fe de lo que hemos
visto en los últimos años. Hemos iniciado una misa Life Teen
que incluye música cristiana contemporánea y homilías que
se dirigen a nuestra juventud. Tenemos líderes adolescentes
que regresan después de la confirmación para ayudar a
los estudiantes de confirmación actuales y los guían en su
camino hacia el Sacramento. Hemos asistido a la Convención
de Adolecentes dos años consecutivos y hemos sido uno de
los grupos más grandes de la asistencia en ambas ocasiones.
Nuestro grupo de jóvenes tuvo la oportunidad de asistir al
evento Life Teen, Inspiración en Six Flags, donde nuestros
muchachos, junto con miles de otros jóvenes católicos
disfrutaron de un día de diversión y alabanzas y adoración en
medio de un parque de atracciones. Nuestros adolescentes
han ofrecido su tiempo para casi todos los grandes
eventos que organizamos aquí en nuestra parroquia; como
coordinadores de aparcamiento hasta como ujieres, nuestros
jóvenes han hecho realmente todo! Ha sido una bendición
para ver lo que nuestro programa de Confirmación se ha
convertido y mi objetivo es seguir creciendo cada año y crear
tantas oportunidades para nuestros adolescentes a caminar
con Cristo. Gracias al apoyo continuo de nuestro Pastor, el
Padre Pablo, estoy muy contenta de poder llevar a 13 niñas
a la Conferencia de Ciry of Saints - por primera vez este
mes de agosto. Quiero extender un agradecimiento muy
especial a todos los feligreses que donaron generosamente
en la segunda colección de este domingo para hacer posible
nuestro viaje. Estoy muy emocionada por el próximo año y
les pido que oren por nuestra juventud!
