Overheard in the tack room:
"I'm going to the big show in Ft. Worth, are you?" she
asked.
"What For?" he answered, "Will there be dancing?"
"How about Movie Stars?"
"Well", she replied, "Amy Star will be there and there is
a USDF Open Dressage Show, Dressage Sport Horse
Breeding Classes, a clinic on how to handle your
horse in halter the Spanish Way, and a clinic on how
to handle your horse in a Dressage Sport Horse
Breeding show. And that's only the schedule for
Monday and Tuesday!"
"Is that all? Maybe I will stay home and watch some
paint dry." he said, "I am interested in Working
Equitation, though."
"Then you will definitely want to go to this show! There
are Working Equitation Classes on Tuesday and a WE
clinic by the Portuguese Judge, João Ralão Duarte,
President of the World Assoc of WE, on Thursday,
and another WE clinic by Jean White, President of WE
USA on Wednesday!" She exclaimed
"Well" he said, with a gleam in his eye and a tinge of
interest developing in his voice, "When are the rail
classes? I want to stand at the hagging rail and yell
things at people."
She teased back, "Wednesday there are halter
classes, Thursday there are Alta Escuela classes and
Friday there are lots of fun classes and an exhibitor's
party. "
"When is the extravaganza? I want to see that!" he
asked, suddenly sounding sincere.
"It is the same day as all the big Championship
classes, on Saturday, but in the evening at 7:30 pm.
Remember to bring some canned food to donate to
charity to get in for free." she reminded.
"I didn't know horses ate cans." He mused, "No
wonder they colic so much."
HEROE OF THE MONTH
Our hero this month is Jenni Berger who
organized, and put on the "Handling your
horse the Spanish Way" clinic with Howard
and Erica Peet. Jenni was a one-woman group
who promoted the event for horsemen to enjoy
in her area. "It was fun! I really enjoyed the
experience", Jenni told us afterwards. The
clinic was declared a resounding success by
all who attended. Thank you, Jeni! Thank
you for your dedication to the P.R.E.
Horse!
YOU ARE OUR HEROE!
"You might be interested in some of the other clinics
so you could learn more about horses. On Wednesday
there is a seminar on Throughness by dressage expert
and trainer, Jutta Heinsohn, the latest in equine retina
ID systems will be demonstrated by eyeD on Friday
and Saturday and also on Saturday there is a
wonderful demo by Horse Boy explaining how horses
help people with autism." She explained.
"OK, that sounds good, Oh, wait. I can't go. I have to
find
a
birthday
present
for
my...............er...........mother, yah, that's it,........... for
my mother." He said.
"Don't worry there will be lots of awesome vendors
with fabulous things for sale and a really wonderful
silent auction. In fact you can buy your mother an
amazing black colt. I bet she would really like that. Any
mother would!" She hinted.

Nuestro héroe de este mes es Jenni Berger
quien organizó y puso en pie la clínica
"Presentar su caballo al estilo Español" con
Howard y Erica Peet. Jenni se esforzó
enormemente para promover este evento en
su área y que los dueños de caballos
disfrutarán de este momento. "Fue muy
divertido! Me gustó mucho la experiencia! ",

Foundation
announces
the
death of our friend
D. Juan Carlos
Altamirano
Macarrón.
D. Juan Carlos is
known worldwide as a consummate historian who
produced the most definitive study of the Pure
Spanish Horse and who then traveled through
the USA and Europe to share with all of us the
joy he felt in discovering those documents. D.
Juan Carlos produced volumes that reached the
world in many languages and will that will long be
used as the basis for understanding the Pure
Spanish Horse. He was recently honored by
both the Cordoba and Andaluza associations,
adding to the many honors he received in his
lifetime. He will always be treasured in our
hearts for the knowledge he shared with us, for
his sparkling wit, and for being a true caballero
representing the very best of his native Spain and
his beloved P.R.E. horses.
D. Juan Carlos died peacefully in his home
surrounded by his family in Malaga, Spain, on
October 6, 2012, following a long illness. Your
notes of condolence can be sent to his son Juan
Carlos

lamenta anunciar la muerte de nuestro D. Juan
Carlos Altamirano Macarrón.
D. Juan Carlos es conocido mundialmente como
un historiador consumado que produjo el estudio
más definitivo del Caballo de Pura Raza
Española y que luego viajó a través de los
EE.UU. y Europa para compartir con todos
nosotros la alegría que sintió en el
descubrimiento de estos documentos. D. Juan
Carlos produjo volúmenes que llegaron al mundo
en muchos idiomas y que por mucho tiempo se
utilizará como base para la comprensión del
Caballo de Pura Raza Española. Él fue honrado
recientemente por las dos asociaciones la de
Córdoba y la Andaluza, sumándose a los
muchos honores que recibió en su vida. Él
siempre será atesorado en nuestros corazones
por el conocimiento que compartió con nosotros,
por su ingenio chispeante, y por ser un
verdadero caballero que representa lo mejor de
su España natal y su amados caballos P.R.E..
D. Juan Carlos murió pacíficamente en su casa
rodeado de su familia en Málaga, España, el 6
de octubre de 2012, tras una larga enfermedad.

and well known for her splendid photos taken of
horses romping in the snow at her
Massachusetts farm. If you need an escape from

leave the horses, you will thoroughly enjoy this
novel.

THE FOUR EUROPEAN SCHOOLS
MEET IN FRANCE FOR A JOINT SHOW
The REAAE travels with 21 people and 22 horses...

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Arts
(REAAE) will participate in the 11th edition of the
joint show of the classical European equitation
institutions on October 5-7 in Paris (France). With
the REAAE, and also taking part in this site are: The
National School of France (Saumur), the Spanish
School of Equitation of Vienna and the Portuguese
School of Equestrian Art.
This meeting, called "The 4 Schools", will be held in
Paris Bercy, and for their participation, the Andalusian
institution will use 22 horses to perform two individual
numbers and six together, in a show that will last two
hours and twenty minutes and have a total of 16
choreographed acts.
The program prepared by the REAAE includes the
numbers: Andalusian Rhythm; Olympic Fantasy Pas
de Deux (with the participation of Olympic riders
Ignacio Rambla and Rafael Soto); while joint
exhibitions would be: Overture; Carousel of Four; Long
Reins; Horse Models; Airs Mounted and in hand; and
Caprioles, plus a final parade with eight
representatives from each institution. The human team
from the Royal School will consist of 21 people.

La REAAE viaja con 21 personas y 22 caballos.
La real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre
(REAAE) participa en la 11 ª edición del espectáculo
conjunto de instituciones clásicas de equitación
europeas, que se celebra del 5 al 7 de octubre en
París (Francia). Junto a la REAAE, tomarán parte en
esta cita la Escuela Nacional de Francia (Saumur), la
Escuela Española de Equitación de Viena y la Escuela
Española Portuguesa de Arte Ecuestre.
Este encuentro, que se denomina "Las 4 Escuelas" se
desarrollará en París Bercy y, durante su
participación, la institución ecuestre andaluza
empleará para las distintas actuaciones 22 caballos
para realizar dos números individuales y seis
conjuntos, en un espectáculo que tendrá una duración
de dos horas y veinte minutos y un total de 16
coreografias.
El programa preparado por la REAAE incluye los
números Ritmo Andaluz y Fantasía Olímpica a Dos
(con la participación de los jinetes olímpicos Rafel
Soto e Ignacio Rambla), mientras que las exhibiciones
conjuntas serán Obertura, Paso de Cuarto, Riendas
Largas, Modelos de Caballos, Saltos Montados y a la
Mano y Cabiolas, además de un desfile final con ocho
representantes de cada institución.
El equípo humano de la Real Escuela estará
conformado por 21 personas.

first CDI and did quite well! At the Saugerties (USA)
CDI-W Senti and Nicholas came in 5th with a score of

We imported several beautiful mares from Spain and
they arrived safe and sound at our farm in Florida.
This is Macarena RAM my eight year old quailfied
mare. She came from the Rafael Ayala Muñoz farm
(Yeguada Ayala) in Seville. She is in foal and we are
expecting the newcomer sometime in January. This
will be a first for us and we are beside ourselves with
excitement. While I am sure Macarena will be fine, I
have my doubts about my husband and myself!

Saltador ORO has qualified for a second IALHA
Lifetime Achievement Award, El Premio de Merito. In
2011 he was Purebred Horse of the Year for IALHA
and also achieved a first Lifetime Achievement Award,

200 performance points. For his entire show career,
Saltador ORO has been a dominant force in the show
ring in widely different venues. Recognition has come

horse in hand, performance, costume and halter.
Saltador has been Best Movement of Show 18 times.
He was High Point Purebred Versatility Horse at the

Dressage Sport Horse in Hand Stallion and made
USDF Grand Champion Stallion at the Great American
USDF Sport Horse Breeders Southern Series finals
last year. Saltador has now achieved the highest score
of over 100 horses competing in IALHA and USDF
Sport Horse classes. Under 10 judges from Spain and
Mexico, he has achieved regional and national titles on
multiple occasions such as P.R.E. Champion Stallion,
Functionality Champion, National Champion Spanish
Stallion and Best Movement Adult Horse.

Is pleased to announce that their Four year old PRE
stallion Aranjuez VSES, son of Dominante XXIX
swept the Dressage Sport Horse Breeder
Championships recently held at the Rocky Mountain
Dressage Society 2012 Championship Show. During
the open show in the morning, Aranjuez won his open
stallion class with the highest score given at the open
show. He immediately won the Stallion Championship,
Mature Championship and Grand Championship
without a rest. In the afternoon, Aranjuez was at his
best for the USDF/GAIG Rocky Mountain Breeder
Series Final Stallion Championship and earned his
highest score of the day from one judge of 78.5%. He
finished the day winning
the Rocky Mountain
Dressage Society Stallion Championship, his sixth and
final class of the day. A clean sweep for this stallion's
debut show as an adult.
