Herme Bellido nos presenta un trabajo intimista que surge de un afortunado encuentro
con la naturaleza. Se trata de la primera exposición que lleva a cabo en su ciudad, el lugar
donde nació y al que siempre ha vuelto, del que es parte casi sin saberlo.
Pero, fue en la capital británica donde, en un delicado tenor de desarraigo, comenzó a
germinar, hace más de tres años, el proyecto expositivo cuyo título alude poéticamente a la
experiencia vital que le dio origen. En un hermoso árbol enraizado en el parque de Richmond
encuentra la clave para su inmersión en un estimulante proceso creativo.
Solo se explica la apacibilidad del inmenso roble por su total entrega al espacio que habita y al tiempo que lo ampara, por su conformidad con cada elemento que lo envuelve y lo
sustenta. Su mansedumbre y su dulzura se volvieron irremediablemente contagiosas…
De este modo, encontró en la naturaleza la fuerza interior para entregarse al silencio, a la
lluvia, a la distancia y al estremecimiento. El árbol se convirtió en templo donde fortalecer el
espíritu, en modelo inefable de presencia y de supervivencia. Aprendió que no habría posibilidad de crecimiento sin plena aceptación de su realidad, aún cuando lo que persiguiera fuera
cambiarla; y necesitó dar continuidad a ese descubrimiento transformador, plasmándolo en
sus creaciones, quizás para recordarse que sin él habría vuelto con las manos vacías o, más
bien, sin nada ilusionante en su retina.
Su trabajo se nutre de la remembranza y del sosiego. Hace suyo aquel árbol para dotarlo
de otras vidas, vistiéndolo de elegantes colores a base de elaboradas tintas que se deslizan en
su rededor, evocándolo para reafirmar su empatía, transformándolo para destilar su esencia,
engrandeciéndolo como al maestro que ha sido.

Formas, matices y composiciones parecen surgir con la misma aparente facilidad con la
que crecen los elementos de la naturaleza, sin que podamos vislumbrar la extraordinaria laboriosidad que encierran los procedimientos que los configuran.

La pantalla serigráfica se convierte en sus manos en instrumento ajeno al uso reiterativo
para el que fue concebida; la atraviesan infinidad de tintas arrastradas por meditados movimientos de rasqueta que dan lugar a improntas insospechadas. Mediante este proceso gráfico-pictórico logra una admirable armonía que nos revela la ausencia total de improvisación.

Con un mismo lenguaje plástico pero con diversos registros técnicos, nos habla de profundos cambios interiores provocados por haber sabido enfrentarse a los vaivenes de la vida
sin esquivar la soledad.

Herme Bellido shows us a very personal body of work born from an encounter with
nature. This is her first solo exhibition in her native Seville, a city to which she has always
returned.
It was in Richmond Park in London, and one of the many stately oak trees there, that the
creative seed for this project was planted.
The title “Surrender” refers to the tree and its environment, the space and the time it
inhabits and its changes through the seasons.
Through looking at nature, Herme found the inner peace to succumb to the silence,
the rain and the distance. The Tree became a temple to strengthen the spirit, a model of
presence and survival. She learnt to accept her reality through total surrender, even though
she pursued its change; and she found the need to give continuation to this transforming
discovery, through her creations, perhaps to remind herself that without this she would
have come back empty handed.
Her works are born from remembering the stillness. She gives new lives to the Tree,
dressing it with elegant colours made with elaborated inks, transforming it to distil its
essence, enlarging it as the teacher that it has been.
Shapes, hues and compositions grow with the same apparent grace and ease as
the elements in nature, without revealing the laborious technical process involved in the
creation of these works.
The Silkscreen becomes in her hands a tool alien to the repetitive use for which it was
originally devised; countless numbers of inks are pulled through thoughtful movements of
the squeegee, creating surprising imprints. Through this process, which is both graphic and
painterly, she achieves a superb harmony, which reveals itself free from improvisation.
With the same artistic voice but with different technical media, she speaks of profound
inner changes achieved through facing life´s constant challenges.

La creación artística nace a menudo de una batalla tormentosa encarada por la voluntad de nuestro espíritu. Exprimirse las entrañas aún a riesgo de no encontrar aparentemente nada no es una profesión que uno elija, más bien una necesidad vital que no
siempre se manifiesta de un mismo modo. La composición artística más bella y armoniosa
puede encerrar cientos de contradicciones y desgarros, pero, por extrañas razones químicas, algunos seres humanos son capaces de transformar este tormento tan individual en
algo que nos sirve de bálsamo al resto: terapeutizar el dolor y la sinrazón en una suerte de
nueva forma que se revuelve sobre sí misma para convertir el trastorno en fetiche, objeto
de deseo.
Surrender se muestra como el dulce almíbar de un fruto maduro, como un sustento
que edulcora nuestras ávidas miradas. Su envoltura es delicada, parece frágil, de temperamento manso y sosegado, inofensivo. Nada más allá de la realidad. La composición
de cada imagen es presumidamente majestuosa. El color que las tiñe da vueltas como
un polvorín que no se decide nunca, y es esa indecisión la misma que los sentencia con
un carácter inequívoco. Bellido se muestra sincera, honesta, sin subterfugios ni trucos, se
rinde a lo que ocurra, se entrega al accidente. Pero no lo hace sin luchar, no se conforma
resignada sin más. Pelea con entrega, con energía, con furia. Este dulce caramelo encierra
una tempestuosa lucha de sentimientos y maneras de sentir que, por ese misterio tan
excitante, transforma un estado de angustia en belleza poética, musical.
La naturaleza es nuestra mejor terapia, siempre. Nos hace sentirnos pequeños y minimiza las cuestiones mundanas. Ante la grandeza de la naturaleza entendemos que la
inmensidad no nos pertenece, ni este mundo, ni casi nuestras vidas. Herme se hizo amiga
de un árbol del Richmond Park. Fue cada día a verlo para paliar su soledad humana, su
desazón humana. Primero necesitó volver a verlo para mantener el equilibrio, después
aprenderlo todo. Aquel roble centenario le habló de la presencia eterna, del equilibrio de
los mundos, del paso del tiempo que cambia nuestro aspecto pero no es capaz de modificar nuestras células, lo de dentro. Y es precisamente dentro donde busca la artista para
comprender y exorcizar las luces y sombras del ser humano, desmembrando cuidadosamente las emociones que se nos agarran fuerte al pecho, exhibiendo orgullosa el silencio
cuando hace falta, desnudándose de los pesados atuendos que nos oprimen, explosionando cuando el alma se llena de vitalidad y agradece lo que es, siendo y sintiendo cada
molécula que nos compone a pesar del espanto, ente que acecha cualquier descuido
para seducirnos.

Surrender
Artistic creation is often born from a tormented inner battle led by the will of our spirit.
To wring one’s guts at the risk of finding apparently nothing is not a career that one chooses,
rather it is often a vital need that is not always manifested in the same way. The most
beautiful and harmonious of artistic compositions might hide hundreds of contradictions
and tears but by odd chemical reasons, some people are able to transform their individual
torment into something that works as a balm to the rest of us: transforming the pain and
the unreasonable into something new that changes the unbalance into a fetish, into an
object of desire.
Surrender is like the sweet syrup of the ripened fruit, like the sustenance that sweetens
our greedy looks. Its wrapping is delicate, seemingly fragile, of a gentle personality, calm,
harmless. Nothing is further from truth. The composition of each image is presumably
majestic. The colour that tinges them keeps turning like gunpowder that can’t decide, and
it is this indecision that asserts them with a unique character. Bellido shows herself sincere,
honest, free from artificiality, from false effects and surrenders to the unknown, embracing
the accident. However she doesn’t resign herself to them, she doesn’t accept them without
fighting. Indeed it is a fight made with devotion, energy, fury. This caramel encompasses a
tempestuous battle of emotions and feelings, which by the same exciting mystery transforms
a state of agony into poetical and musical beauty.
Nature is our best therapy, always. It makes us small and humble and diminishes
our mundane thoughts. In the presence of the grandness of nature, we understand that
immensity doesn’t belong to us, nor does this world, not even our own lives. Herme befriended
a tree in Richmond Park. She visited it daily to alleviate her solitude, her sorrows. She first
needed to return to it to keep her balance, afterwards to learn all from it. That centenarian
oak tree spoke to her of eternal presence, the world’s equilibrium, the passing of time that
changes our appearances but not our cells, not the inside. And it is precisely inside where
the artist looks to understand and exorcise the light and shadow of human nature, carefully
breaking up the emotions that seize us strongly by the heart, showing proudly the silence
when necessary, taking off the heavy corsets that suppress us, exploding when the soul is
filled with life and thanking it for what it is, being and feeling each molecule that we are in
spite of the horror, which threatens at any slip to seduce us.
