Life Long Faith Focus on the Gospel
Mark 10:42-45
Most grammar school children have the
experience of standing in a long lineup from
which captains construct teams for dodgeball or relay
races. There are those who are always the first to be
chosen and those who wait until the very end to be
selected. If you were ever one of those to wait and wait in
that lineup, you know what it feels like to be among the
last. It is a difficult feeling to contend with. But such a
feeling is what Jesus demands as a life attitude for his
disciples. He not only wants us to feel this as a result of
others’ choices, but because we choose to put ourselves
there. It takes superior resolve to give one’s life as a
“ransom for many.”
Next weekend we will observe Priesthood Sunday, a day
set aside in the Church in the United States to reflect on
the priesthood. Locally, it gives us the opportunity to honor
the dedicated priests who serve our Parish community. A
collection for the Diocesan Priests Retirement Plan will
be taken up next weekend in the conjunction with
Priesthood Sunday. This collection supports the needs of
our retired diocesan priests and helps assure that they are
well cared for in their retirement years. We ask all in our
parish community to contribute to the collection next
weekend. Thank you.

Mass. The Welcome Wagon Committee has been hard at
work since March calling and visiting with new
parishioners in their homes, but we still have so many
more to make feel at home here at Mary Immaculate.
Won’t you join us? No program, just an opening prayer, a
few opening remarks from our Clergy, and the rest of the
evening will be filled with just getting to know one another!

exclusive registration for our Called and
Gifted workshop Jan 8 and 9 here in the
parish hall. The registrations are now open
to all parishes in the diocese, and Mary

Is Jesus Calling You?
Women and men who seek to live as stewards learn that
“all things work for good for those who love God” (Rom
8:28). We must ask ourselves, do we also wish to be disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian stewards of our world
and our Church? If you are seeking a way to be a good
steward of God’s gifts, why not consider becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Communion? Or, how about a
Lector or Usher? It is an honor and a privilege “to serve
the Lord at Mass”, and it is very easy to learn. If you

The Music Ministry will host the 27th annual
Holiday Expo this year on November 14th
(10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and November 15th
(9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.). This is our only
fundraiser of the year and it will have something for
everyone! There will be 53 Crafters offering handcrafted
gifts galore, a silent auction, door prize drawings, an
awesome food selection, and baked goods. There are only

Young Adult Mission trip to Nicaragua, hosted by the
Office of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministries for

July 8-16, 2016 and is open to young adults aged

Mary Immaculate Catholic School has on-going registration
with availability in various grades for the 2015-2016 school

The A Cappella Choir from Bishop
Lynch High School has accepted an
invitation on behalf of Pope Francis to
sing at the Epiphany Mass on January
6, 2017 at St. Peter’s Basilica. This is
the first time a high school choir will sing at the Epiphany
Mass. To help fund this once in a lifetime trip for these
members, representatives of the choir, some with ties to
Mary Immaculate Parish Church and School, they will be
selling beautiful poinsettias for your holiday decorating
before and after the English Masses on October 31 and
November 1.
Plants will be ready for pick up December 5th and 6th after
all English Masses. Payment will be required at the time of
the order and all orders must be at Bishop Lynch no later
than November 11. Donations supporting this trip will also
be accepted. Thank you so much for your support!

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús enseña a sus discípulos que
aquel que desee ser grande entre ellos debe ser un
servidor, así como él vino a servir. Hoy es el Domingo
Mundial de las Misiones – un recordatorio de nuestro
llamado a ser buenos corresponsables del Evangelio y a
apoyar a quienes hacen de la evangelización su ministerio
de servicio alrededor del mundo. No ser un servidor del
Evangelio sería una corresponsabilidad “pobre.”
Pero,
¿cómo servimos nosotros al Evangelio? ¿Cómo apoyamos a quienes sirven a aquellos que nunca han escuchado el Evangelio?

padres de familia es bautizado
