Welcome Aboard!
The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District—
AC Transit—is the third largest public bus system
in the state and has been serving the East Bay since
1960. Thirteen cities and adjacent unincorporated
areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties
comprise the district’s service area. Approximately
230,000 passengers travel each day on AC Transit’s
150 local and transbay bus lines.
Schedule and Route Information
This system map shows AC Transit’s basic network
of bus lines. Local service (within the East Bay) is
shown in green. Transbay service (to and from San
Francisco) is shown in red. Local express and limitedhour service is shown in purple.

when you want to go, and we’ll provide all the line,
schedule, and fare information you need.

Disabled—Passengers must show proof of disability
with a Medicare Card plus photo ID, DMV Parking
Placard ID plus photo ID, disabled license plate
registration plus photo ID, or Regional Transit
Connection Discount Photo ID Card.
Transfers
Transfers are good for travel in any direction on
any number of buses for two hours. Transfers
are 25 cents and are issued upon request
only at the time of boarding. Transbay passengers transferring to or from local buses
may request a transfer at no charge.
Each bus stop has a sign
that shows the number or
letter designations of the bus
lines serving that stop. Look
for these same numbers or
letters on the lighted
destination signs on the
front and side of each bus.

1. Lines 305 and 360 operate only midday Tuesday and Thursday.
2. Line 15 between El Cerrito and Berkeley BART operates every thirty minutes.
3. Between 5:00 am–9:00 pm daily, Lines 53 and 53A provide service every fifteen minutes between Fruitvale BART
and the intersection of Fruitvale Ave. and MacArthur Bl. Other areas served by these lines have half-hourly service.
Service to Chabot Observatory ends at 8:00 pm. Service west of I-880 ends at 9:30 pm (see Line 354 for service

4. Line 62 west of Broadway does not operate between midnight and 6 am.

Buying Passes
Most AC Transit buses have frontmounted bicycle racks that hold two
bicycles. Cyclists load and unload
their own bicycles—the bus driver cannot leave the
bus to provide assistance. Bicycles are not allowed
inside the buses except from midnight to 5:30am, if
the rack is full.
