Our sincere thanks for your generosity during the 2014 Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gifts and pledges will have a lasting impact on or ability to serve the People of God here in Brooklyn and Queens. As of August 11th our parish had 172 pledges for a total of $59,483 which represents 110.3% of our parish goal ($53,901). Of this amount, $50,865 has already been paid. This means that about 17% of our registered parish families have already pledged almost 100% of our parish goal! Your generosity is crucial to providing vital pastoral, charitable and educational ministries throughout the Diocese and all gifts, great or small, help us to do God’s work. We thank ALL who have pledged so far and urge every family to make an effort to support the Appeal. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL MONIES RECEIVED OVER THE GOAL WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PARISH AND WILL ASSIST US IN MEETING OUR MANY EXPENSES. WE STILL NEED 70 ADDITONAL PLEDGES TO EQUAL LAST YEAR’S TOTAL OF 242. PLEASE HELP US!! May God bless each one of us for responding to this call with so much enthusiasm and generosity! MSGR. BREEN Msgr. Breen, our retired Pastor, is continuing to adjust to his new home at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. His sister has indicated that he would be happy to receive visitors from the parish. His room number is 327 and the main phone is 718-229-8001. PRO-LIFE CORNER – We have suffered with abortion on demand for forty-one years. We must realize that what one generation tolerates, the next generation embraces. This has proved to be so true since we continue to abort babies with little or no remorse. It is true; every day babies die from abortion and as a nation a bit more of our moral conscience dies as well. FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, In last Sunday’s bulletin I informed you that a new Parish Music Director, John Cook, had been hired. Like most Music Directors that work in our Diocese, John is also an accomplished organist. This means that Stephen Smith, who has served for many years as our parish organist, will no longer fulfill that position. I wish to take this opportunity to express, in my own name and on behalf of the entire parish community, our most sincere thanks to Stephen for his years of faithful and dedicated service here at Our Lady of Fatima. It is our hope and prayer that he will enjoy success and personal fulfillment in his future endeavors. Msgr. Mons.
