Society of St. Vincent de Paul
As we hear the Gospel today we realize that sometimes we are like Simon as it’s far easier to see what is wrong
in another than it is to see what is wrong in ourselves. But Jesus, who accepts the poor woman without judging
or blaming her, show us what Christian love is all about.
Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. The coins placed in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box bring Christ’s love and
compassion to the poor.
The Promise of Giving
Please don’t forget to bring food and hygiene items for the Pantry. The “Promise of Giving” is ongoing and cannot sustain itself without your help. If you have taken a bag, please remember to buy the items on the list attached to bag and return it to the St. Vincent de Paul collection box located in the vestibule of the church. May
God continue to bless you as you give.

Stewardship Reflection
Like Nathan in today’s first reading, we sin when we begin to feel entitled and act as if what we have is ours by right,
when we forget that everything we have is an unmerited gift from God. But God is gracious and forgiving — even when
we use His gifts wrongly or squander them thoughtlessly — if, like Nathan, we confess our guilt and ask His pardon.

From The Pastor’s Desk:
The case of David (in the first reading) and that of the sinful woman (in the Gospel) are examples of how we reap
the fruits of the redemptive suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. David repented of his adultery and murder and
heard these healing words, “The Lord on his part has forgiven your sin: you shall not die.” The nameless woman in the
Gospel repented of her sins (not specified) by acts of love and tender care, and heard these healing words, “Your sins
are forgiven.”
Forgiveness, restoration, healing and reconciliation are the gifts that Jesus came to give. Let us open our hearts to
receive these gifts by our repentance, and forgiveness of others who wrong us. This week, meditate on the Peace Prayer
of St. Francis.
Congratulations to all fathers, and God’s blessings be upon you as you fulfill your calling.
All who need healing are invited to the healing service and recollection on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The service starts
with the 8 a.m. Mass and ends by 10:30 a.m. Except for emergencies, if you are planning to go into hospital for any surgical procedure or treatment, please stop by the Church and have the Sacrament of anointing of the Sick prior to your
admission.
Our heartfelt prayer and condolence go to the Leath family, on the demise of their loved one, Andrea Faye Leath.
Her remains were laid to rest this Saturday. May she rest in peace. God bless you today, and everyday.
Fr. John Ayang, SOLT
Sunday Spiritual Thoughts
Our readings for this Sunday give us another inspiring message to hope, because of faith and acknowledgement that
David has shown in the First Reading and the woman in the Gospel. Admittance and repentance of one’s wrong doing
is the first step in the process of forgiveness. David simply says, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan says,
“The Lord in his part has forgiven you, you shall not die.” This occasion of forgiveness gives new hope and life to David. The same life and hope we have had in the sacrament of reconciliation.
Forgiveness and reconciliation is Jesus’ gift of his death and resurrection. Jesus has justified us by his suffering and
death, so that through faith in his death and resurrection we are justified before God. Saint Paul to the Galatians, says,”
a man is not justified by legal observance but by faith in Jesus Christ.” It is the same faith that moves the woman in the
Gospel to wash the feet of Jesus with her tears and anoint them with perfume. Jesus tells her,” your sins are forgiven…
Your faith has been your salvation.”
Forgiveness and reconciliation is within the context of faith in Jesus. A disciple of Jesus should therefore know the
sense of urgency of forgiving, and reconciling himself to God and to people offended, for the reward of doing them is
life and hope in God.

” Y Nathan dice,
San Pablo a Galatians,
