given that the deadline for re-registration was Saturday,
June 4 (as announced previously and repeatedly), you must
pay the rates as listed above. No exceptions will be made.

Yonkers.

Sat., June 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for our bilingual Annual Pro-Life Day of Recollection in our school
auditorium. This FREE day of prayer and workshops will conclude with a Holy Hour in the church from 4 to 5 p.m. Bring a
friend! A FREE and tasty dinner will follow in the school cafeteria.
Also, our fourth to sixth grade students are invited to
our Healthy Respect program this summer, starting June
25 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the school!

The Legion of Mary is back!
If you recall the initial launch of the Legion
of Mary a few years ago, the group provided adult
parishioners to seek Jesus via Mary in English.
Thanks to Ms. Raquel Silva, we are going to appeal
to both Mass communities for interest in reviving this
wonderful devotional activity. Please come to a
meeting on Saturday, June 11 at 6 p.m. in the
Rectory to learn more!

When a Priest faces the East at Mass
When the priest offers Mass facing the
same direction as the people, to symbolize that
he and the people together are offering worship
and sacrifice to Almighty God, he is not turning
his back on the people to exclude them.
Rather, as a Christian community, are all facing
ad orientem (i.e. toward the East) waiting in joyful expectation for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ who will
return to judge the living and the dead and the world by fire. What
in the early Church determined the position of the altar was that it
faced East ward. To quote St. Augustine: "When we rise to pray,
we turn East, where heaven begins. And we do this not because
God is there, as if He had moved away from the other directions
on earth..., but rather to help us remember to turn our mind towards a higher order, that is, to God." This quotation shows that
the Christians of those early days, after listening to the homily,
would rise for the prayer which followed, and turn towards the
East. St. Augustine always refers to this turning to the East in
prayer at the end of his homilies, using a set formula, Conversi
ad Dominum ("turn to face the Lord"). [from the bulletin of St.

o ¿Que pasa en Realidad?
<<Cuando el padre ofrece la Misa dirigiéndose en la misma dirección que los fieles, indicando que juntos están brindando culto y sacrificio a
Dios Todopoderoso, no le está dando espalda
para excluirlos. O sea, como comunidad Cristiana, todos se dirigen ad orientem (vb. “al oriente”
en latin) en esperas alegres de la venida de Jesucristo nuestro
Señor, quien juzgará entre vivos y muertos y el mundo por fuego.
En primeros siglos, la santa Iglesia discernió la dirección oriental
del altar. San Agustín nos enseña, <<Al pararnos en oración, nos
volteamos al oriente, donde comienza el cielo. No porque allí
está Dios y no en otras direcciones en la tierra, sino para animarnos de levantar la mente a niveles superiores, o sea a Dios.>>
Estas palabras nos recuerdan que los cristianos de primeros siglos, luego de escuchar la homilía, se paraban y se dirigieron al
oriente. San Agustín siempre exhortaba la vuelta al oriente en
rezo al fin de sus homilías con la frase Conversi ad Dominum
