PACIFIC GROVE WEEKLY SUMMARY
PACIFIC GROVE WEEKLY SUMMARY February 7, 2014 CITY COUNCIL Major actions taken by the Council at its regular meeting on February 5, 2014 include: Adopted an ordinance making permanent the increase of paring limits in the downtown area to two hours. Received the report summarizing the results of the Police Services Survey, which elicited over 1,000 responses by Pacific Grove residents and businesspeople. The survey indicated that citizens desire to retain Pacific Grove’s patrol officers and sergeants, and that the City can explore sharing of services in other areas (primarily support and administrative) with other jurisdictions in order to increase capabilities and reduce costs. The Council directed the City Manager and Police Chief to begin those discussions. Received a report on the status of the City organization, given the current staffing situation and challenges. The Council directed the City Manager to proceed with highpriority recruitments and return to the Council with a plan for additional needed steps. Created a homeless persons’ assistance fund and Council Committee, comprising Councilmembers Cuneo and Fischer, to work with neighboring cities to initiate regional efforts to address homelessness and assist those persons who are homeless in our community. Received a report on the status of Aberg v. City of Pacific Grove. The City Council and City Manager also recognized Sal de Franco as the Employee of the Quarter, as selected by his peers, for his outstanding dedication to our community and his duties, including his efforts to mentor and train new employees and others. The agenda reports and supporting documents for all of these actions are on the City’s website, at http://www.ci.pg.ca.us. Details of the actions taken will also be available, upon completion and adoption of the meeting minutes, which will also be posted on the website. David Concepción will be leaving the City of Pacific Grove to the North Bay area and was recognized by the Council and Manager for his commitment to the City. He will be succeeded by Debi Thomsen, CMC who comes to the City of Pacific Grove with many years of experience in the world of Municipal Clerks. If you see Debi around town, please make sure to welcome her! 1 “State of the City” Mayor Kampe and the City Council will hold an address to discuss the state of the City of Pacific Grove, with a “Q&A” session. This forum will take place at the Pacific Grove Community Center at 513 Junipero Ave, on February 18, 2014 from 6-730 PM. WATER Water Management District Approves Interim Conservation Measures.
