Celebrating Our Freedom
Heavenly Father,
you have given us the gifts of life and liberty
and entrust to your people the duty to guard these gifts
wherever they are threatened.
Help us to protect the freedom of all
to follow the Gospel of your Son, Jesus Christ,
and to bring his light and truth to the ends of the earth.
Guide all who play a role in enacting legislation
to uphold the freedom of conscience of all citizens.
Send us your Spirit to inspire in us
the wisdom and courage needed
to witness to the truth and to stand up for all
whose religious liberty is endangered.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our country, pray for us.
Please join in community to pray the Patriotic Rosary
~ Sunday, July 3 at 3:15pm in the main church.
This will be month 5 of our 9-month novena
to our Queen of Peace.
Please note the parish and school offices are closed,
Monday , July 4 in observance of the July 4th holiday.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so
ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for
his harvest." Can we be counted among the laborers?
Are we ready and willing to work for the sake of our
faith, or are we looking for the easy way out?
Our faith is more than a personal experience. It's
more than a routine that fits into our weekly schedule.
Our faith is meant to be shared with others, even
when that requires a bit of work on our part. In today's
Gospel, Jesus calls his followers to "Go on your way,"
to prepare people for the Lord. And we are called to
do the same. We are meant to go on our way-out of
our homes, and even out of our churches-to share the
good news of the Gospel and to serve those in need.
It can be tempting to think, "I believe, I go to church,
isn't that enough?" But Jesus tells us that there is an
abundant harvest out there-countless people who
may just need to know that Jesus loves them or that
someone is willing to help. If we don't step up to the
task then those people will miss out on that word of
encouragement, that personal invitation to Mass, that
act of kindness that might have made all the
difference in their life. God may be calling some of us
to an even deeper commitment-to be a lay minister in
a parish or to discern a religious vocation, for
example-but there is no doubt that God is calling all of
us to labor for his kingdom in some way.
This mission isn't for someone else. It's for us to carry
out the work of the disciples because we are today's
disciples. When we accept this mission, we will not
only enjoy seeing the benefits that others receive, we
will also rejoice with those whose "names are written
in heaven."

June 24, 2016
Dear faithful St. Peter’s families,
Summer greetings! We hope this letter finds you and your family well as you continue to enjoy the more leisurely pace of
the summer months. With the turn of another page of the calendar, we are reminded that the start of a new year is just
around the corner.
This upcoming 2016-2017 school year marks the 25th anniversary of St. Peter’s Catholic School. The legacy of academic
excellence, Catholic tradition, and small class sizes, continues with our strong curriculum and dynamic teaching faculty.
Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing the highest quality Catholic education to all of our students.
“The mission of St Peter’s Catholic School is to prepare students to excel in life by achieving success in a lived and
taught Catholic tradition of excellence. Consistent with our motto “Saints and Scholars”, we aim to produce leaders in
academics and servants in faith.”
Our Catholic identity is very important to us. Students at St. Peter’s Catholic School participate in daily religious
instruction, weekly liturgy and prayer, and frequent service projects. We strive to be a community of good stewards in
support of our less fortunate neighbors.
St. Peter’s Catholic School is accredited by AdvancEd, (formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools),
with oversight from the Diocese of Charleston Catholic Schools Office and the South Carolina Department of Education.
We are also affiliated with the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA).
Instructional staff members are fully licensed, and curriculum is routinely revised to encompass current best practices
and research. Curriculum areas include Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Religion, Physical
Education, Art, Music, Spanish, Technology, and Media. St. Peter’s Catholic School students consistently score in the
top 10% on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills when compared to schools nationally.
Many wonderful things are currently happening here at St. Peter’s! We are undertaking a major project which includes
multiple safety upgrades, and a 25th anniversary renovation and facelift.
St. Peter’s students also have access to a number of extra-curricular activities, including cross-country, and a year-round
soccer program led by our newest staff member, Stephen Aldred. We participate in Mathletics, Quiz Bowl, spelling, and
geography bees, science fair, scouting, and other activities dictated by current student interests.
Our current school clubs include recycling, Garden Club, Celebration Team, children’s choir, Geography Club, and our
altar servers.
One of the most important facets of education at St. Peter’s Catholic School is the palpable family feeling that permeates
school, parish, and family life. Becoming a member of the St. Peter’s family offers you and your child an extended, faithbased family.
“Why we choose to send our children to St. Peters Catholic School:
We keep our children at St. Peter’s for many reasons. One major reason is that the staff and parents work together to
provide an environment that the kids can feel safe in. Secondly, the small class sizes, exceptional academics, and
passionate teachers keep our little ones growing; I am always excited to hear what they are learning about each day! Of
course our faith plays a major factor in why we keep our children at St. Peters. The freedom to pray, the encouragement
to grow in their relationship with Christ, and the religious education are all part of their everyday life, and that is priceless.
Lastly, St. Peter’s is our family. There simply aren’t words to express the relationship aspect shared by the staff, the
parents, and the children.”

(continued from previous page)
A Catholic education encompasses the whole child – spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and
intellectually. And by means of our partnership with you, St. Peter’s Catholic School strives to support your entire
family. As St. Pope John Paul II said, “As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which
we live.”
Without a doubt, Catholic education is a sacrifice for families who choose it for their children. In these times, it’s a
“counter-cultural” decision to skip a meal out or drive a car for a year or two longer to provide a Catholic education for
your children. However, we are certain that the rewards will exceed those small adjustments. We keep tuition as
affordable as possible, and we offer tuition assistance.
Above all, Christ is at the center of all we do here, and we invite you to join our school family as we strive to build
God’s Kingdom with our “Saints and Scholars.” We welcome you to visit St. Peter’s Catholic School to learn more
about the excellent educational and spiritual opportunities available. We are confident that you too will find a warm,
welcoming community motivated to inspire all children to reach their highest potential.
Please call us today with your questions or to schedule a tour at 843-522-2163.
As you make this very important decision for your child, you remain in our prayers. Please do not hesitate to contact
me if I can be of any assistance.
May God’s peace be with you now and always,
Ann M. Feltner

St. Peter’s Church:
A SPECIAL note of thanks to Bonnie Goltz and the Diggers
Club, and to Father Paul, and the many parents and the
school staff. Barbara and I were overwhelmed by your
kindness and generosity. St. Peter’s and the school
children are very dear to me and it is my pleasure and joy
to work with them in the gardens and on the school
grounds,
To the wonderful children who brought their happy and
smiling faces to us in church, we thank you for the special
flowers, gifts, and cards. Most of all for a most dear and
memorable moment in our life. Never to be forgotten.
We love you all,
Dr. Frank and Barb

Help John Paul II Catholic School make Catholic
education affordable and available for students and
families by participating in JPII’s Adopt-A-StudentProgram. The program is designed to provide a quality,
faith based education to students with financial
obstacles. However more than just financial assistance,
participants would serve as a mentor for these students
as they complete their academic career at John Paul II.
In 2015-2016, 30% of the 176 students enrolled
received financial based assistance determined by the
FACTS Grant & Aid assessment process.
Our Lowcountry students need your participation in this
program as enrollment applications for the 2016/17
school have identified an even greater financial need
from our families.

We need volunteers to manage the booth during the sales

MEDITACION EVANGELICO
ALENTAR ENTENDIMIENTO MAS PROFUNDO DE LA
ESCRITURA
comprometidos a hacerlo bien. Jesús lo describe así.
"La cosecha es mucha y los trabajadores pocos.
Rueguen, por tanto, al dueño de la mies que envíe
trabajadores a sus campos". Rogar, pedir, llevar a
¿Cómo has experimentado el
operarios a tu mies! Así sea.

Technology update- Most people are scared of shots, right? With the use of a dental laser
some procedures can be comfortably carried out with out having to be numbed. This also
means not having to wait for it to ware off. Lasers can be used to prepare teeth for fillings,
contour gum tissue, treat periodontal disease, and provide instant relief to oral irritations like
cold sores or fever blisters. Please talk to one of the clinicians to see if a laser procedure will
work for you.
Do you understand your dental insurance? We do. Karen and Bunny are here to make sure
your benefits are completely explained, your claims are prepared for filing, and preauthorizations
are carried out to minimize any unforeseen costs of down grading or denied claims. It is the last
quarter of the year and do you still have unused dental insurance benefits? Each year insurance
companies make millions of dollar off patients who forego necessary and preventative dental
treatment. Many individuals who are paying for dental insurance do not realize that their plans
provide coverage up to a certain dollar amount annually. Consequently, some patients are not
scheduling the dental procedures they need, deserve, and have insurance to cover. Thus, the
insurance money available to pay dental claims on many patients is never used and, unfortunately, those dollars cannot be carried over year-to-year. The bottom line: What you don’t use,
you lose. Talk to us and we can help... Dr. Odom and his staff would like to wish his family
of patients happy holidays and health in the new year. We look forward to seeing you
again and treating your referrals.
