PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
Our Lady of Good Counsel parish is a ROMAN
CATHOLIC, MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY guided by
the AUGUSTINIAN tradition.
Through our CELEBRATION of the WORD and
SACRAMENT, and our PARTICIPATION in the LIFE OF
THE CHURCH, we strive to
GROW in our FAITH and share our faith with
others;
PREACH God’s MESSAGE by word and
example;
BUILD UP a spirit of COMMUNITY;
EXTEND our LOVE through service;
FOSTER a sense of STEWARDSHIP.
ORDINARY TIME IS THE PERIOD OF THE LITURGICAL YEAR THAT FALLS BETWEEN
CHRISTMAS AND LENT, AND BETWEEN EASTER AND ADVENT. Often, when we
hear the word “ordinary” we think of something that is mundane, or banal,
or dull. But we should not think of this time in the liturgical life of the
Church in such a way.
Christmas and Easter are the great mountain peaks of the liturgical year.
Ordinary Time, then, is the verdant meadows that lie between. As Christians, we are called now to descend these peaks and {to} hear the voice of
their shepherd as He feeds us with His Word and His Eucharist. This makes
the color green, with its connotations of life and growth, very appropriate.
Without a great liturgical feast to prepare for or celebrate, the Sunday liturgy
becomes all the more important during Ordinary Time. According to The
General Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar, the days of Ordinary Time, especially the Sundays, "are devoted to the mystery of Christ in
all its aspects."
If you are not in the habit of making the most out of your Sunday, now is the
time. We are called to keep holy the Lord’s day. Read a book. Take a nap.
Exercise. Write in a journal. Play outside. Do something nice for someone
else. PRAY! Worshipping the Lord and rejuvenating yourself is really what
Sunday is all about.

llamados ahora a bajar de esta cumbre y {a} escuchar la voz de su pastor mientras Él
nos alimenta con su Palabra y su Eucaristía. Esto hace el color verde, con sus connotaciones de vida y crecimiento, muy apropiado.
CRECER en la FE y compartir nuestra fe con
otros;
PREDICAR EL MENSAJE DE DIOS con la
palabra y el ejemplo;
DESARROLLAR un espíritu COMUNITARIO;
COMPARTIR nuestro AMOR a través del
servicio;
PROMOVER UN ESPÍRITU DE CORRESPONSABILIDAD.
Sin una gran fiesta litúrgica que celebrar o preparar, la liturgia del Domingo se hace aún
más importante durante el Tiempo Ordinario. De acuerdo a Las Normas Generales
para el Año y el Calendario Litúrgico, los días del Tiempo Ordinario, especialmente los
Domingos, “son dedicados al misterio de Cristo en todo su aspecto”
Si usted no tiene el hábito de aprovechar el Domingo al máximo, ahora es el momento.
Estamos llamados a mantener Santo el día del Señor. Leer un libro. Tomar una siesta.
Hacer ejercicio. Escribir en un diario. Jugar afuera. Hacer algo bueno por otra persona.
ORAR! Adorar a Dios y rejuvenecerse usted mismo es realmente de lo que se trata el
Domingo.

prior to the wedding. Couples should consult with a priest before fixing a date with
the reception hall.

Good Counsel is accepting registrations for
September 2015 program year.
Registration forms can be picked up in the
back of the church or in the parish office.
The complete registration form, a copy of
the Baptism certificate, a copy of the birth
certificate along with the registration fee is
to be submitted at the time of registration.
Registrations are accepted during parish
