CONVERSION OF PAUL, APOSTLE
PARISH VOLUNTEERS
On any given day, if you visit St. Bernadette's, you will find
many volunteers working hard to keep the church running. This
is a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who share your time, wisdom, compassion, faith, kindness and love by volunteering. Our
volunteers include our teens, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Eucharist
Ministers, Readers, Faith Formation teachers, our choir, the sweet
lady that keeps the kitchen clean, the kind man that keeps the
church spotless, the ladies who decorate the altar, the money
counters, the ushers, the Quilters, the Shawl Ministry, the
Women's Guild, Knights of Columbus, the Silver and Gold
Group, the Parish Expansion team, the man who maintains the
repairs of the facility, the computer guys, etc. I am sure there are
others that may have been left out and we apologize. Please
know that you do not go unnoticed or unappreciated by all.

Knights of Columbus and The Respect Life Ministry
Spaghetti Dinner:
“The Respect Life Ministry and the Knights of Columbus are
holding a Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, January 30th from 4 PM
until 8PM in the Parish Hall. Eat-in or Take-out. Adults - $6,
Children 12 and under - $3, Family Maximum - $25. The profit
will go toward placing a Life Memorial monument on the
Church property as a reminder to all that abortion is a sin and
must be stopped. One of God’s Ten Commandments is “Thou
Shall Not Kill”. The Lord did not exclude unborn babies.
Please come and enjoy good food and support this very worthwhile cause.

signup for Retrouvaille. Retrouvaille is a program for married
couples that feel bored, frustrated, or angry in their marriage.
Some experience coldness and simply shut down. Others experience conflict and arguments in their relationship. Most don’t

Free tax preparation for senior citizens and low to moderate income residents will be held Thursday evenings February 5 to March 26 from 7 to 9 PM in the Parish Hall.

552-2922 to schedule an appointment. Assistance is offered in Spanish and English. There will be no tax prep
on Thursday, March 5.

Dear St. Bernadette Catholic Church,
I want to thank you so very much for the many wonderful
gifts and blessings that you showered the families with for
Christmas. You have no idea what a difference you made in
so many families lives. Many of the children would not have
received any gifts for Christmas if it were not for the unselfish
giving of your church. Joe, Kathy, and Cheryll have coordinated a wonderful Angel Tree for several years and they work
tirelessly to insure that all children have a wonderful Christmas. Over the years the Christmas project gets bigger and
bigger and I just want to thank you so much for all the
Church does for the community. Thank you and may God

Contractors interested in helping with the construction of the Family
Learning Center are encouraged to pick up a Contractors Qualification
Form after Mass. The Forms can be found on the table with the project model on display in the commons area or online. Once the Forms
have been completed they can be mailed to or dropped off at the Parish
office. The General Contractor will hold a meeting with qualified
parishioner contractors sometime later this month or early next month.

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal
The Bishop’s Annual Appeal is conducted in every parish of the
Diocese to help finance essential services and programs of the
Catholic Church in the Diocese of Raleigh. The BAA reminds us
that we are one with other parishes and with the Diocese itself.
The Appeal gives us a change to share God’s goodness for us by
extending that generosity to others.
There is an abundance of human need surrounding us—the poor,
the sick, the elderly, troubled families, the disabled, and those in
crisis. The Bishop’s Annual Appeal gives us an opportunity to
respond to those in need and to show Christ’s love by putting our
faith in action as a Diocesan family. The Diocesan agencies and
programs supported by the BAA help with both spiritual and
physical needs and go beyond what an individual parish can accomplish alone. The BAA is a family effort.
The 2009 BAA goal is $5,295,758. Our parish goal is $104,433
and 100% participation. Thousands of people, many programs
and agencies, our parish, and our Diocese need your help. Please
plan to make your pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal.

LA CONVERCION DE PABLO, APOSTOL
DEL PULPITO A SU BANCA……….
La Conversión de San Pablo, Apóstol
La palabra conversión en latín quiere decir "volver la espalda" o "voltearse para ver". Nuestra conversión diaria pues significa retornar a Dios; es decir girar nuestra vida hacia Dios.
Esto incluye el trabajar en nosotros mismos para transformar
nuestras actitudes y conducta hacia una renovación completa
de nuestra forma de pensar y actuar en la vida cotidiana. El 28
de junio de 2008 el Papa Benedicto XVI invitó a la Iglesia
entera a celebrar el año dedicado a San Pablo para festejar los
dos mil años de su natalicio. Durante todo este año estaremos
de fiesta con este gran acontecimiento. San Pablo nos dejó un
gran legado en sus escritos: él es responsable de la mayoría de
las cartas del Nuevo Testamento en la Biblia.
Pero vale la pena que nos demos cuenta de la forma en que
este gran hombre se convirtió al llamado del Señor. Todos
sabemos que él perseguía a los miembros de las primeras comunidades cristianas y que lo hacía por defender la ley judía.
Sin embargo, camino a Damasco el Señor lo hizo caer. Una
vez vencido en el suelo y ciego por la gran luz que lo envolvía, escuchó una voz que le preguntaba: "'Saúl, Saúl, ¿por qué
me persigues?' Preguntó él: '¿Quién eres, Señor?' La respuesta
fue: 'Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues'" (Hch 9, 5-6).
Fue de esta forma que San Pablo se convirtió y giró su vida
hacia donde el Señor Jesús le indicaba. San Pablo se convirtió
de perseguidor a misionero, difundiendo la Palabra de Dios a
todas las gentes. Por lo tanto, ¿qué podemos aprender nosotros
de San Pablo? ¿A qué nos invita su conversión? Pidamos a
este gran apóstol que nos dé su ardor y la valentía de seguir al
Señor Jesús hasta la muerte. Así lo confirmó él con su martirio.

DESARROLLO DE UN NIÑO NO NACIDO
Concepto durante la semana 4:
En el concepto se ha formado una nueva persona con su
propio sexo, color de ojos, color del pelo, etc. El cerebro, la médula espinal, y el sistema nervioso se comienza a formar alrededor del día 18. Para el día 21, el corazón comienza a latir. El siguiente día sus ojos fueron
formados y sus oídos se pueden identificar. Durante el
desarrollo del bebé en la semana 4, comienza a crecer
los brazos y las piernas; la cara también comienza a convertirse. La sangre ahora ha comenzado a correr en sus
venas, pero permanece a parte de la sangre de la madre.
En este tiempo la madre puede incluso no realizar que
ella está embarazada.

PROYECTO DE CONTRUCCIÓN
Todo contratista interesado en colaborar en la
construcción del Centro Escolar de Familia se les
pide que pueden recoger un formulario de Quilificación para Contratistas después de cada Misa.
Formularios se encuentran en la mesa con el modelo del proyecto en nuestra sala de recibir. Una vez
completo, los formularios se pueden enviar por correo si es posible, entregarlos en el despacho de
nuestra iglesia. El Gerente de Contratistas tendrá
una entrevista con los contratistas que cualifican a
fines del mes de enero o comienzos del mes entrante. Gracias por su apoyo.

EXAMENES DE MAMOGRAFIA
El día 13 de marzo conduciremos exámenes de mamografía para todas aquellas personas de 40 años de edad o
mayores, y que las cuales previamente: (1) hallan tenido
un examen de pecho, (2) que hallan tenido un examen de
mamografía durante el ultimo año, (3) y que no tengan
seguro medico. El examen del pecho lo puede tener durante las horas que la clínica atiende, o sea, los primeros
y terceros jueves de cada mes de 3-6 de la tarde. No es
necesario tener cita. Debe usted inscribirse en las Iglesia
de Saint Bernadette durante las horas que la clínica esta
abierta.
