The Problem:
Did you know? In California, a girl under 18
years can’t get a flu shot, a cavity filled, or an
aspirin dispensed by the school nurse without
a parent knowing. BUT a doctor can perform
a surgical or chemical abortion on a minor
girl (under 18) without informing her parents.
The Solution: Parental Notification
Parental Notification will require that a
physician notify a parent at least 48 hours
before performing an abortion on a minor girl
under the age of 18.
• Over 16,000 abortions are performed
yearly in California on teens under age 18
years. These teens suffer emotional and
medical consequences as a result
of abortion.
• On a daily basis, older men impregnate
teen girls and pressure them (without
their parents’ knowledge and protection)
to have secret abortions to cover up
crimes of statutory rape.
• More than 30 states currently have
Parental/Family Notification Laws in
place. These states have experienced
significant reductions in pregnancies and
abortions among teen girls.
• Parents know their daughters’ needs best.
They know her medical and mental history.
Shouldn’t a parent be involved when a
young teen girl is facing a pregnancy?

A father in California came home early
from work one day to find his 15-yearold daughter had tried to commit suicide
by drug overdose. He learned that his
daughter had been impregnated by her
33-year-old karate instructor who said
he’d commit suicide if she didn’t have
an abortion. So, against her wishes and
her deeply held belief that abortion was
murder, she had the abortion. Because of
the grief and guilt, she attempted suicide.
Had her father not come home early that
day, she would have succeeded.
A Planned Parenthood affiliate in Arizona
was found civilly liable for failing to report
the fact that the clinic had performed an
abortion on a 13-year-old girl who had
been impregnated by her 23-year-old foster
brother. The abortion provider did not
report the crime and the young girl was
returned to the foster home where she was
raped and impregnated a second time.
A Kansas man sexually assaulted his
stepdaughter, age 11, and then took her for
an abortion at Central Women’s Services.
The clinic did not report the rape but
instead sent the girl home in the “care” of
her stepfather, where she and her 12-yearold sister continued to be abused, resulting
in three pregnancies and another abortion,
which also was not reported.
A 13-year-old Ohio girl was impregnated by
her coach who then persuaded her to have
an abortion. Planned Parenthood did not
report the abuse nor did they comply with
the state’s own parental notification law.
Three days after the abortion, the coach
resumed having sex with the girl and then
abandoned her. Only months later did her
parents learn what had happened. The
coach is now serving a prison term. Planned
Parenthood denies any wrongdoing and is
fighting against the parent’s lawsuit.
A 36-year-old Nebraska man impersonated
the father of a 16-year-old girl that he
impregnated in an attempt to obtain
an abortion for her, and thus hide any
evidence of statutory rape of the girl.
A 12-year-old, mentally challenged girl
was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her
mother’s live-in boyfriend. Twice these
assaults resulted in the girl becoming
pregnant. Both times, the boyfriend forced
the girl to have an abortion. Finally, after
the second abortion, the clinic reported the
crime, and the boyfriend was sentenced to
thirty years in prison.
An Oregon abortion clinic performed
an abortion on an 11-year-old girl, yet
failed to report the sexual abuse as
required by law. The abuse was disclosed
to authorities only because the abortion
was incomplete and the girl was taken to
the hospital where a doctor reported the
abortion and abuse.
In Connecticut the case of a 10-year-old
girl being impregnated by a 75-yearold man went unreported. The child
was examined by two physicians, but
neither reported the sexual abuse to the
authorities. Instead they referred the little
10-year-old girl to an abortion clinic.
Kevon Walker, 22, impregnated his
14-year-old “girlfriend” three times in six
months, resulting in three abortions. The
clinic never notified the authorities.
Parental Notification will require a doctor to notify a parent or adult family member 48 hours prior
to an abortion on their minor daughter under 18 years old.

La Solución: Notificación a Padres de Familia
La iniciativa de notificación a los padres de familia
requerirá que el doctor notifique a uno de sus
padres por lo menos 48 horas antes de practicar un
aborto en una joven menor de 18 años.
• Cada año en California, más de 16,000 abortos
son practicados en jovencitas menores de
18 años. Estas jóvenes sufren consecuencias
emocionales y físicas como resultado del aborto.
• Los profesionales de la medicina saben que
una persona joven está más segura cuando
un progenitor o miembro de su familia está
informado de su situación médica.
• Alguien que conozca a la joven y tenga interés
en su futuro, le puede ayudar a entender todas
sus opciones, recibir el cuidado adecuado y
sortear los problemas que la llevaron a esta
situación.
• Frecuentemente, las adolescentes son
abusadas y forzadas a abortos secretos (sin
el conocimiento de sus padres) por hombres
adultos que suelen explotarlas.
• Actualmente, más de treinta estados tienen leyes
en vigencia que apoyan la notificación a padres
de familia. Estos estados han experimentado
reducciones en embarazos y enfermedades
transmitidas sexualmente entre las jóvenes.

Un afiliado al centro de aborto Planned
Parenthood en Arizona se le encontró
civilmente responsable por no reportar el

Un padre de California llego a su casa
inusualmente temprano de su trabajo
y encontró que su hija de 15 años había
tratado de suicidarse con drogas. Fue así,
que se enteró de que su hija había sido
embarazada por su instructor de karate de
33 años, quien la chantajeo diciéndole que
él se suicidaría si ella no tenía un aborto.
Así que en contra de sus creencias que
el aborto es asesinato, se sometió a un
aborto. Debido a su pena y culpabilidad, se
trato de suicidar. Gracias a la llegada de su
padre, la joven no murió.
Una clínica de abortos en Oregon
practicó un aborto a una niña de 11 años,
pero omitieron reportar el abuso sexual
como es requerido por la ley estatal. El
abuso fue revelado a las autoridades solo
porque el aborto fue incompleto y la niña
posteriormente fue llevada a un hospital
donde el doctor reportó el abuso.
Una niña de 13 años de Ohio fue
embarazada por su entrenador quien la
persuadió a tener un aborto. Planned
Parenthood no cumplió con el requisito
estatal de reportar el abuso sexual a
menores. Tres días después del aborto,
el depredador volvió a tener sexo con
la joven, y posteriormente la abandonó.
Fueron meses más tarde, que los padres
de la niña se enteraron de lo que había
pasado. Planned Parenhood niega toda
responsabilidad y está peleando una
demanda hecha por la familia.
La verdad
Leyes referentes a la Notificación a Padres
de Familia, están en efecto en la mayoría de
los estados y lo han estado por años. No
hay ni un solo reporte que estas leyes sean
en ninguna forma adversas al bienestar o
seguridad de las jóvenes.
Los Proveedores de aborto, raramente
reportan casos de violación a menores o
casos de abuso sexual a las agencias de
protección a menores (Child Protective
Services). En lugar de reportarlo, ellos
proporcionan abortos secretos, pagados
con impuestos de los contribuyentes;
lo cual permite que la joven vuelva a la
misma situación de abuso. ABORTOS
SECRETOS PONEN EN PELIGRO A
LAS JOVENES.
Un estudio de mas de 46,000 embarazos
en jóvenes de edad escolar en California,
encontró que dos terceras partes de ellas
fueron embarazadas por hombres adultos
cuya edad promedio era 22.6 años de edad.
La iniciativa de Notificación a los Padres de Familia, requerirá que el doctor notifique a un padre de la familia por lo
menos 48 horas antes de practicar un aborto en una joven menor de 18 años. Para presentar esta iniciativa a los votantes de California durante
las elecciones de noviembre de 2012, necesitamos su ayuda.
