A new Catholic Children’s Regional Choir: Parents, would
you like your child grades-3-8 to learn to sing the great treasury
of Catholic liturgical music for a life time? The West Houston
Catholic Children’s Regional Choir is holding auditions
starting Monday February 3, at St. Jerome’s Catholic School
choir hall. Rehearsals are every Monday at 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
Your child will be taught to read basic music, the great catholic
masterpieces, and then to debut for the vigil Mass of Mother’s
day, May 10, at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred heart. For all

“Proof of Heaven" will resume on
January 29, 2014
"Proof of Heaven", which begins on January 29, will knock your
socks off!!! The 5 sessions that we have scheduled will make an
ideal prelude to Lent. The last session will be on the Wednesday

CONGRATULATIONS
ATTENTION – LADIES OF ST. AMBROSE – Cenacle
Silent Lenten Retreat - Once again our parish ladies are invited
to attend a retreat at the Cenacle Retreat House, 420 N.
Kirkwood, just off the Katy Freeway on Friday, April 4, 1014,
from 7:00PM until Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 2:00PM. Relax
under the tall, serene pine trees of the Cenacle. Enjoy your own
private room, home-cooked meals with desserts and even a
massage if you so wish. The days are scheduled with
conferences with our Retreat Master, Reverend Joe Nassal,
CPPS, quiet time, private conferences with Reverend or the
Cenacle staff, as well as free time too.
GIFTS FOR GOD
The theme of the retreat is “The Breath of Life: Honoring the
Mystic Within”. During this retreat, we will explore how we can
honor the mystic within each of us by becoming aware of the
love that God has kindled in our hearts. When we live from this
mystical center of prayer, we will be catalysts for compassion,
reservoirs of reconciliation, and harbors of hope for one another
and our world. Presentations, guided meditations and handouts
for individual prayer and reflection will be used to facilitate this
process. Rev. Joseph Nassal, CPPD, is the author of eight books
including the Conspiracy of Compassion, Rest Stops for the
Soul, Premediated Mercy, Moments of Truth, and Stations of the
Crib.of the Crib. Rev. Nassal has been a Missionary of the
Precious Blood and has been engaged in retreat, renewal, and
reconciliation ministry since 1988, including three years as
director of Shantivanam, the House of Prayer for the
Archdiocese of Kansas City. Ordained in 1982, Fr. Joe has also
served in parish and justice and justice and peace ministry and
in formation, vocation, and leadership for his religious
community. He presently serves on the leadership team of the
Kansas City Province as Provincial Director and resides in
Liberty, Missouri.

ATTENTION: GOLDEN YOUTH TRIP
January 23, 2014 Thursday
Parishioners 50 years and older.
Join us on Thursday, January 23, as the Golden Youth Club of
St. Ambrose will be taking a bus trip to visit Christ Church
Cathedral in downtown Houston. Christ Church is the cathedral
church for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. It is one of the
oldest non-Catholic churches in Texas. The current building
dates from 1893.
Following a tour of the church, we will have lunch at
Treebeards, The Cloister, located in the church's social hall.
Lunch will be on your own. They have daily specials as well as
choices of salads, sides and soups. Following lunch, we will
visit the Menil Collection and enjoy a self guided tour of the
collection.
The tour is limited to persons 50 years or older and bus seating.
The total cost for admissions will be $10 per person. Cost of
lunch not included.

Isaías 49, 3.5–6: Te hago luz de las naciones, para
que seas mi salvación
Salmo 39: Aquí estoy, Señor, para hacer tu voluntad
1Corintios 1, 1–3: La gracia y la paz de parte de
Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesús sean con
ustedes
Juan 1, 29–34: Éste es el Cordero de Dios, que quita
el pecado del mundo
Pablo inicia su carta confirmando la
universalidad del Reino de Dios; expresando que el
mensaje de salvación es para todos los que en
cualquier lugar -y tiempo- invocan el nombre de
Jesucristo. Este saludo es dirigido a los cristianos de
Corinto; sin embargo, por la manera solemne en que
Pablo escribe (a la Iglesia de Dios de Corinto), se
puede afirmar que el apóstol se está refiriendo a la
única y universal Iglesia de Cristo, que se hace
presente históricamente en los creyentes de Corinto.
Es decir, que aunque Pablo escriba de manera
particular a esta comunidad, su mensaje desborda los
límites de espacio y tiempo, adquiriendo en todo
momento actualidad y relevancia, pues es una
Palabra dirigida a la humanidad entera. Hombres y
mujeres hemos recibido la gracia de ser hijos de
Dios, por
medio de Jesús; hemos sido consagrados por Dios
para realizar en nuestras vidas la “vocación santa”,
que en nuestro lenguaje correspondería a la “misión”
de hacer presente, aquí y ahora, el reino de Dios:
hacer de este mundo un lugar más justo y solidario,
menos violento y destructor, más libre y fraterno.
Quien asume como modo normal de vida este
horizonte liberador está invocando el nombre de
Jesús.
El evangelio de Juan manifiesta la
universalidad de la salvación de Dios por medio de la
vida y misión de Jesús de Nazaret, visto éste como
cordero de Dios, que se sacrifica, se entrega
obedientemente a la voluntad del Padre para salvar de
la muerte (del pecado) a toda la Humanidad... Jesús
es el enviado del Padre, el ungido por el Espíritu de
Dios, el servidor de Yahvé del profeta Isaías (49,3)
que tiene como especial misión establecer en el
mundo la justicia del reino; es quien verdaderamente
trae la salvación de Dios a la humanidad. Juan el
Bautista ya había comprendido su propia misión y la
misión de Jesús; por tal razón el profeta del desierto
dice que detrás de él viene uno que es más importante
que él, pues el que viene es el Mesías, una Palabra
nueva de Dios para el mundo. El Bautista reconoce a
Jesús como el Hijo de Dios, por eso da testimonio de
él. Y lo hace -y lo recoge así el evangelio de Juan-,
con las imágenes de aquel tiempo, unas imágenes que
hace mucho tiempo se quedaron sin base y que hasta
han perdido su inteligibilidad. Hablar del Cordero de
Dios, sacrificado, que expía nuestros pecados, que
quita el pecado del mundo con su sangre, que nos
«redime»... es hablar en unas categorías que sólo
podemos conocer por estudio histórico-bíblico, por
cultura especializada religiosa, pero que no podemos
captar «por sentido común» por una evidencia que se
respira en subconsciente colectivo social, como han
de ser captadas las buenas imágenes, las imágenes
que están vivas, no las que ya murieron aunque sigan
siendo leídas o repetidas. Una tarea pendiente de la
comunidad creyente hoy es testimoniar ese encuentro
profundo con Jesús con unas metáforas nuevas, para
que expresen y comuniquen ese encuentro, que sólo
de esa manera se concretizará en una vida fundada
entregada al amor, a la Justicia y a la comunión con
Naturaleza.

Se les hace una invitación para que
pasen tiempo en adoración frente al
Santísimo. Está expuesto todos los miércoles después de
la misa de 8:00 a.m. hasta las 6:15 p.m. en la capilla.
Los bautizos son el domingo después de la
Misa de 12:00 p.m.
Te invitamos a rezar el Santo Rosario en la iglesia
cada domingo a las 11:30 a.m. para prepararnos a
celebrar la Santa Eucaristía.
